In this paper, a technique to detect structural damage and estimate its severity using peaks and zeros of frequency response functions (FRFs) is developed. The peaks in FRFs represent the natural frequencies of the structure and the zeros provide additional information. The characteristics of peaks and zeros are defined and the calculation procedure to obtain the peaks and zeros from the relationship between frequency response function and stiffness and mass matrices are clearly explained. A structural system identification theory which is utilizing the sensitivity of stiffness of a structural member to eigenvalues, i.e., peaks and zeros, is established. The proposed method can identify damage location and its severity, with natural and zero frequencies, by estimating structural stiffness of the structure in the process of making a analytical model The accuracy and feasibility is demonstrated by numerical models of a spring-mass system and a beam structure.
Nowadays it is tendency to make a remodelling or demolition of old structures with the rapid development of blasting technique. In this treatise it is arranged of improvement procedure of blasting demolition method in korea which was begun since August 1991. Recently, the blasting demolition method has much merits with 60-70% reduction effect of construction period than mechanical demolition method. and so that it has much economical points specially over than 5 storied high buildings. In order to maximalize economical effects of the blasting demolition method, environment safety and recycling, it must be needed. at first to develop the estimating programs against vibration, noise, flying stones, and dust. Also it is required to take a responsibility for using recycling materials after blasting demolition of old structures, and to be invested to advance the blasting demolition techniques.

Korea is one of the countries with a large veterinary antibiotics market, although antimicrobial resistance in bacteria is becoming a serious issue in many countries. The Korean government started to take interest in estimating the effects of livestock manure on rivers and agricultural soils and in monitoring of heavy metals, organic pollutants and antibiotics in the ambient water and soil. In this paper, pre-treatment methods to separate the selected antibiotics from solid samples were reviewed. It is essential to select an efficient and appropriate procedure for pre-treatment due to the high proportion of proteins and organics in biosolid samples. Pre-treatment consists of extraction followed by clean-up. Initially, homogenized samples were extracted by sonication, mechanical agitation or pressurized liquid extraction with methanol/acetonitrile/water mixture under acidic/basic conditions depending on the compound. However, aminoglycosides and colistin were extracted with 5% trichloroacetic acid and HCl, respectively. Since the ${\beta}-lactams$ are easily decomposed in acidic and basic conditions, they were extracted in neutral pH. Filtration with a membrane (pore size, $0.2{\mu}m$) or solid phase extraction with HLB and methanol, as eluents, was normally applied for the clean-up. At least, three different pre-treatment procedures should be adopted to screen all the selected antibiotics in solid samples.

An interleaver rearranges a channel-encoded data in the symbol unit to spread burst errors occurred in channels into random errors. Thus, the interleaving process makes it difficult for a receiver, who does not have information of the interleaver parameters used in the transmitter, to de-interleave an unknown interleaved signal. Recently, various researches on the reconstruction of an unknown interleaved signal have been studied in many places of literature by estimating the interleaver parameters. They, however, have been mainly focused on the estimation of the block interleaver parameters required to reconstruct the de-interleaver. In this paper, as an extension of the previous researches, we estimate the convolutional interleaver parameters, e.g., the number of shift registers, a shift register depth, and a codeword length, required to de-interleave the unknown data stream, and propose the de-interleaving procedure by reconstructing the de-interleaver.

In case that multichannel blind deconvolution (MBD) applies to signals of which autocorrelation has a high level, separated signals are temporally whitened by diagonal elements of a separation filter matrix. In order to reduce this distortion, the algorithms, which are based on either constraining diagonal elements of a separation filter matrix or estimating a separation filter matrix by using linear prediction residual signals, are presented. Still, some problems are generated in these methods, when we separate reverberation of signals themselves or interference signals from mixed signals. To solve these problems, this paper proposes the multichannel blind deconvolution method which divides processing procedure into the stage to separate interference signals and the stage to eliminate a reverberation of signals themselves. In simulation results, we confirm that the proposed algorithm can solve the problems.

Even the rough prediction of the product test time before the lifetime test of mechanical component begins would be of use in estimating cost and deciding how to keep up with the test. The reliability predictions of mechanical components are difficult because failure or degradation mechanisms are complicated, and few plausible databases are available for lifetime prediction. Therefore, this study conducted lifetime predictions of elastomeric U seals that were respectively installed in a hydraulic actuator and a pneumatic actuator using lifetime models and a field database based on failure physics and an actual test database obtained from the NSWC handbook. To validate the results, the predicted failure rates were compared with the actual lifetime test results acquired in the lab durability tests. Finally, this study discussed an engineering procedure to determine the coefficients in the failure rate models and analyzed the sensitivity of each influential parameter on the seal lifetime.

On public constructions, that the first planed projects delay than the scheduled completion day occurrence frequently because gap between the scheduled construction durations and the actual construction durations. These facts connect with not only problems of the construction during as the construction delay but also brought about the distribution costs increase as the failure of facility use plan and the people discomfort weight, failure of the production and the supply using facility then tremendous loss of each part etc. For reduce these loss, it must improve accuracy of the scheduled construction duration estimating when it order. This study try contribute to a successful manage of public project and reduce the construction duration extension frequent of the construction during, and then ensure the suitable construction duration by present the estimation model of the scheduled construction duration that include the construction duration correct element using as an index on the scheduled construction duration estimation.
In this study, the effects of stand planting density on parameters of stand height and basal area growth models were investigated. We used the Korf equation as the base model in estimating the parameters of the growth models for cryptomeria plantation forest stands. Then, in order to investigate the effects of the change in plantation density on the parameter estimates, the "extra sums of square" principle, which provided a reasonable statistical procedure for a performance test, was used. The results of the test coincide with the understandings that stand height growth is not affected significantly by the planting density and the growth curves of stand basal area approaches a common asymptote regardless of the stand density for a given site. However, the shapes of the basal area growth curves were affected significantly by the planting density. Based on the results of the test, we developed a basal area growth model to account for the effects of initial planting density in cryptomeria plantation forest stands.

This paper proposes a method for segmenting objects from the background in IR(Infrared) images based on GrabCut algorithm. The GrabCut algorithm needs the window encompassing the interesting known object. This procedure is processed by user. However, to apply it for object recognition problems in image sequences. the location of window should be determined automatically. For this, we adopted the Otsu' algorithm for segmenting the interesting but unknown objects in an image coarsely. After applying the Otsu' algorithm, the window is located automatically by blob analysis. The GrabCut algorithm needs the probability distributions of both the candidate object region and the background region surrounding closely the object for estimating the Gaussian mixture models(GMMs) of the object and the background. The probability distribution of the background is computed from the background window, which has the same number of pixels within the candidate object region. Experiments for various IR images show that the proposed method is proper to segment out the interesting object in IR image sequences. To evaluate performance of proposed segmentation method, we compare other segmentation methods.

Estimating the emission rate of VOCs from a gasoline industry at national level can be a challenging take even though the estimation is mean-based. However, using the procedures in the US EPA AP-42 guidelines, it is possible to approximate the mean industry emission rate once enough data are available. However, this estimate can be misled in the sense that there exist many stochastic factors in the EPA\\`s estimation procedures and also throughout the marketing channels of gasoline industry. Addressing the stochasticity problem in EPA\\`s procedure is hard to tackle because the detailed data needed to execute the estimation are not usually available even from refiners. Instead, this research tries to stay focused on the second type of stochasticity issue, raised from the mean0based metrological and marketing practice data collected from the 4 major refiners. To do so emission raters from each marketing channels (8 marketing points by 3 transportation types and by storage facilities of 4 refiners) are estimated monthly, following AP-42 procedures and using Tank 4.0. Once these estimates are acquired, the distribution of VOC emission rate for each marketing channel of all 4 refiners is estimated through simulation method using @Risk. The mean-based emission rates are weighted by company quantities to estimate the emission rate from the whole gasoline industry. Simple economic implication is provided, based on the result. This study found that, on the mean-bases, about 0.66% of gasoline marketed are evaporated into air. Considering the stochasticity in the estimation, about 90% of simulation results fell into the range of 0.65 to 0.68%. For 90% chance, the estimated economic loss is $54.65 million to $57.17 million, not counting the cost caused by air quality degradation and associated health impact.
