  • The present paper improves the direct identification scheme based upon the equation error formulation with incomplete modal data. First, an indirect estimation technique is considered for estimating unmeasured elements of latent vectors by the combined use of a model and measured incomplete eigen vectors. It is used for estimating the other elements of eigen vectors, which are essential for identification but not available. Next an index is introduced here to indicate the quality of estimation with respect to the mode and the measured positions. A sensitivity formula for eigenvalues with respect to the unknown joint coefficient is also derived to select the modes appropriate for identification. An identification strategy is suggested to meet with practical problems with the help of the index and sensitivity formula. The index and the sensitivity are proved to be useful for selecting measurement positions and modes appropriate for identification A comprehensive simulation study is performed to test the proposed method.

  • In the irrigation facilities, the irrigation system is connected systematically, and thus, it agrees to the object-oriented concept. Since it is necessary to go through comparative evaluations and to devise several alternatives plans in designing the irrigation system, it will be very efficient to use the objects that contain the design data. In this study, the object-oriented methodology has been proposed to define the objects, which will be used in the design system of irrigation facility. Furthermore, as for the essential elements of the objects, concept of element objects is formulated. By employing this concept, appropriate element objects have been derided for the irrigation facility. Necessary data model for realization of the objects is examined and selected. And then, required elements for applying the selected data model to the irrigation facility will be proposed

  • Restaurant is a settign for est and social intercousrse fo rpeople in the cities, and is essential to provide its users with pleasant and comfort space. Color is used as a design tool which has most powerful effect to change the nature of a space and atmosphere, As a basic study for desirable environmental color for restaurant, this is studied mainly on the following discussion points. 1) Inportance of environmental color and its role in accordance with space characteristics as restaurant. 2) The psychological effects of color in the clinetes, color conditioning of the dining ares, problem of change in the appearance of color in the selection of materials and color harmony of total environments. 3) Prior to color planning in detail , the nature and characteristics each restaurant contains and their correlation with various locational , physical , social environmental , human variables have been analyzed. And the total atmosphere of the dining area as a place where the clients finally stay has been dealt with various visual , environmental and functional problems of color about fixed elements such as the wall. the floor, the ceiling and semifixed elements such as tables, chairs, etc.

  • This review paper discusses research from the last few years relating to windborne debris risk models and the essential elements of engineering damage prediction models. Generic types of windborne debris are discussed. The results of studies of debris trajectories that are relevant to damage models are described - in particular the horizontal component of debris velocity as a function of distance travelled. The merits of impact momentum versus impact kinetic energy as a relevant parameter for predicting damage are considered, and how published data from generic cannon Impact tests can be used in risk models. The quantitative variation of debris impact damage with wind speed is also discussed. Finally the main elements of previously-proposed debris damage models are described.

  • This paper presents a novel method to design and implement mobile u-health system by defining the essential elements of mobile healthcare services. We choose common service elements for the proposed u-healthcare scheme and design the service platform. Especially we focus on automatic feces or urine sensing u-care scheme to prove the effectiveness of our platform. We construct the system with sensing part with a manikin and a diaper, wireless communication part with feces or urine sensing data, and coordinator system based on the u-health platform defined in this paper. Experimental results show that our scheme is useful in the area of u-care service for the handicapped, the elderly, and patients who can hardly move by themselves. In addition the designed scheme offers a realized u-care scheme with the purpose of advanced developing tools for application or service developers.

  • This study applies the Delphi method to design services with convergence characteristics in the financial sector. In designing a service robot for practical deployment that can support and replace bank teller, the opinions and judgments of various expert groups were extracted and a consensus process was made through feedback. A total of six dimensions and thirty service elements were derived over three rounds. Coefficient of Variation and content validity were used to verify the suitability and reliability of the selected service elements. As a result, the essential service element of robots was interaction with customers, followed by basic and professional financial services. Based on these service factors, we proposed two types of service models. support mode to assist employees during business hours and alternative mode on behalf of employees outside business hours. It is hoped that this study will use the Delphi technique in the design of IT convergence services.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions on urban areas. This study is made up GHG emission estimation and emission prospect methods, setting of GHG reduction target, GHG reduction plan formulation and feasibility assessment. The significance of this study is as follows. First, this study provides the local government for the overall frame of low carbon strategies. Second, this study contribute to establishment of GHG emission reduction strategies in the local autonomy by providing GHG emission estimation and setting reduction target which is essential elements of reduction strategy. Third, we organize a reduction element for low carbon city embodiment and showed the way to assessment the reduction effect of these elements quantitatively.

  • In this paper, effective and user friendly CAM software is presented that automatically generates any three dimensional complex toolpaths according to a CAD drawing. In advanced manufacturing, often it is essential to scan the sample following a complex trajectory which consists of short (few microns) and multidirectional moves. The reported CAM software offers constant velocity for all short trajectory elements and provides an efficient shift of tool path direction in sharp corners of a tool trajectory, which is vital for any laser, based precision machining. The software also provides fast modification of tool path, automatic and efficient sequencing of path elements in a complicated tool trajectory, location of reference point and automatic fixing of geometrical errors in imported drawing exchange files (DXF) or DWG format files.

  • Invertible transformations over n-bit words are essential ingredients in many cryptographic constructions. When n is large such invertible transformations are usually represented as a composition of simpler operations such as linear functions, S-P networks, Feistel structures and T-functions. Among them we study T-functions which are probably invertible transformations and are very useful in stream ciphers. In this paper we study the number of single cycle T-functions satisfying some conditions and characterize single cycle T-functions on $(\mathbb{Z}_2)^n$ generated by some elements in $(\mathbb{Z}_2)^{n-1}$.

  • In this paper, a quadrafilar antenna is designed to have a lower profile as an essential part of the size reduction technique and lower backradiation(namely, higher forward radiation) for the S-band telemetry/telecommand(TM/TC) function of a communication satellite. Particularly, to meet the challenging requirements on the higher isolation between the TM/TC antennas and simultaneously a smaller size, the lowest backradiation and lowest cross-polarization, the optimal physical dimensions of the quadrafilar antenna are found by using the Genetic Algorithm(GA). To prove the validity of the proposed antenna design, its 3D electromagnetic analysis and measured results are compared to show good agreement. Using this antenna as the elements, an array antenna is made to have directivity.
