  • In order to develop a pot lid that would not overflow, three parts were created, each different in size. One cover (A") had a small hole (dia. 10 cm) for the vapor to escape (dia. about 2.5 mm). Another, cover A' had a medium-sized hole (dia. about 5 cm) for the vapor to escape. Cover A (dia. 300 mm, $120\;mm^H$) had a large hole (dia. 100 mm) for the vapor to escape. Because the new cover was partially open while soy paste solution cooking, it showed that it could not only prevent overflow, but also extend the burning approaching and salinity increase time, reducing both cooking time and the amount of energy necessary to cook.

  • All passenger ships aboard more than 36 passengers are to be able to easily find escape routes when the escape way by fire with flame spread were onboard vessel (incl. Ferry, Passenger, Ro-pax, Inland Ferry) It should be impossible by ordinary emergency lights. The international Maritime Organization (IMO) gives special requirement for luminescent evaluation onboard test procedure and applicable location of low location lighting. In order to maintain the residual light source for a certain time in the low location lighting with a strip-shaped light source, the light source material must be sufficiently exposed to the light due to the proper placement of the escape route. The lighting arrangement influence how maintain low location lighting strip luminescent which measured onboard in connection with what elements are mainly sustain luminescent.

  • Theoretical models of reionization require that approximately 10% of the Lyman Continumm (LyC) photons escape from their host dark matter haloes and re-ionize neutral hydrogen in the Universe. However, observations of Lyman break galaxies (LBGs) at z~3 report much lower escape fractions of $f_{esc}{\sim}1%$. In an attempt to understand the discrepancy, we perform radiation-hydrodynamics simulations of isolated disk galaxies using RAMSES-RT with high resolution (maximum ~ 9 pc). We find that $f_{esc}$ is ~6% on average for the reference run ($Z=0.1Z{\odot}$), whereas the fraction decreases to ~1% in the case of metal-rich disk ($Z=1Z{\odot}$). This happens because dense metal-poor gas clumps are disrupted early due to strong Lya pressure and supernova explosions, while star particles are trapped for a longer period of time in the metal-rich environments. We also find that $f_{esc}$ is still significant (~4%) even when the amount of metal-poor gas is increased by a factor of 5. Our preliminary results suggest that the low escape fractions in LBGs may be better explained by (locally) metal-enriched gas near young stars than high gas fractions in galaxies.

  • This thesis is the fundamental study on the adaptation of escape device for reducing small fishes in set-net. The escape devices for experiments were made the mesh-type devices with three different mesh sizes (60.6, 75.8 and 120.0mm). The experiments of size selectivity on escape devices were conducted by using two kinds of species as black rockfish (Sebastes schlegeli) and sea perch (Lateolabrax maculatusi) in the experimental tank. The size selectivity curve was fitted by using a logistic function and the parameters of selectivity curve were estimated by a maximum likelihood method. In the results; 50% selection ranges for the mesh-type escape devices with three different mesh sizes were; a black rockfish was 18.99 in mesh size 60.6mm and 21.96 in mesh size 75.8mm (120mm could not estimate). A sea perch was 22.02 in mesh 60.6mm and 24.46 in mesh size 75.8mm (120mm could not estimate). The 50% selection range of a black rockfish was wilder than a sea perch about 1.1~.2 time. Therefore, the small fishes are able to reduce by using the mesh type escape device. However, the optimum mesh size should be decided to consider the size of target species and economics of catches.

  • This thesis is the fundamental study on the adaptation of escape device for reducing small size of fish in set-net. The escape devices for experiments were made the grid-type devices with three different slit sizes (15, 20 and 25mm). In the results; 50% selection ranges for the grid-type escape devices with three different slit sizes were; a black rockfish was 13.30, 19.22 and 22.06cm and a sea perch was 17.64, 20.91 and 22.78cm, respectively. The 50% selection range of a black rockfish was wilder than a sea perch about 1.1~1.3 time. Therefore, the small size of fish are able to reduce by using the grid type escape device. However, the optimum slit size of grid should be decided to consider the size of target species and economics of catches.

We divided male Sprague-Dawley rats into 4 groups. They were Normal group, Growth deficiency rat with insufficient nutrition diet group, Growth deficiency rat with 0.1% Yongohkgo group and 0.2% Yongohkgo group. They were administered for 5 weeks. We measured body weight, and morris water maze test in escape distance, escape time and escape speed, serum growth hormone, insulin-like growth factor and thyroid stimulating hormone, RBC, concentration of Hb and PCV ratio, total WBC and its composition, the values of GOT and GPT activities. The results are as follows that Yongohkgo 0.1%, 0.2% groups were showed significantly different than control groups in body weight and the counts of RBC. In the morris water maze test, in escape distance and escape time, in concentration of Hb and PCV ratio, 0.2% Yongohkgo group were significantly different than control groups. Serum growth hormone, insulin- like growth factor and thyroid stimulating hormone showed a tendency to increase in Yongohkgo groups. The counts of total WBC and its composition, GOT, GPT activities showed no significantly different in all treatment groups. These results suggested that Yongohkgo have an effect of promoting growth and learning ability of rats and might be effect to treat various kinds of growth and learning ability delay in children.

  • Recently, huge life losses occurred in the elderly long-term medical care fires due to lack of escape safety. As part of the measures to enhance the effectiveness of fire escape safety, while they prolong the available safe egress time (ASET) of non fire compartments, a measure to shorten fire-fighter's arrival time by fire alarm notifying device should be implemented in these facilities. The four categories from the aspects of fire prevention/protection engineering were provided with the necessary component technologies for carrying out these helper-guided evacuations. Fire prevention engineered technology was presented by two provisions; one for ensuring small compartment sections by installing the fire rated wall between bed rooms and another for ensuring the fire retardant or/and non-flammable performance of finishing materials. Also fire protection engineered technology was presented by two items; one for imposing cooling effects by sprinklers and another for providing automatic fire alarm notifying functions to fire stations. In order to improve the escape safety of these facilities in Korea, alternative revisions may presented by considering insufficient provisions in the architectural/fire law provisions by analyzing the provisions of Japanese and domestic laws in detail.

  • This paper presents a method to calculate the escape frequency factor and its verification from TSC(Thermally Stimulated Current) equation and cures. To apply calculation method of ν using asymptotic estimation, it utilized two sets of TSC data with 1K interval. This method enables one to get the exact value of ν and activation energy at the same time by using computer programming. So, it regards their calculation method as a useful process to obtain the value of physical behavior.

  • The objective of this study is to verify the safety in case of fire and change of residential environment for different wall construction approaches in a stairways apartment house. In order to confirm that case_1, which is current case that most of wall is opened and the case 2, which upper part of wall is limitedly opened are compared and analyzed based on simulations of fire, escape and natural ventilation performance. The analysis reveals that possible escape time for case 1 was more than 600 seconds and for case 2 was 195 seconds. Since the escape times for both cases were over 128 seconds, it would be reasonable to assume that every resident would escape. The simulation results on natural ventilation performance shows the air change per hour of case 1 and case 2 were .19n/h and .16n/h and there was 1.2 times difference. However, the difference was too insignificant and it could be seen as that different approaches on wall construction would not significantly influence on natural ventilation performance.

  • We compare electroabsorption modulators (EAMs) with multiple quantum wells (MQWs) based on InGaAs(P)/InP and InGa(Al)As/InAlAs material systems. We carefully choose the quantum-well structures so that the structures based on different material systems have similar band-offset energies and excition-peak wavelengths. Assuming the same light wavelength of $1.55{\mu}m$, we show the transfer functions of EAMs with each quantum-well structure and calculate the escape times of photogenerated charge carriers. As the heavy-hole escape time of the quantum well based on InGaAs(P)/InP is much longer than those of photogenerated charge carriers of InGa(Al)As/InAlAs, the EAM based on the InGa(Al)As/InAlAs material seems to be more suitable for high-optical-power operation.
