This paper presents a new NC machine performance test and calibration system. In order to measure NC machine erros in simpler, and less time-comsuming way, some indirect measuring systems such as circular disk system and double ball bar system have been developed instead of laser interferometer. But these indirect measuring systems have shown their limits in identifying each of NC machine error sources in absolute numerical value. Therefore, we developed an unique NC machine error measurement system which provides a simple measuring process like other conventional indirect methods and still can indentify each of NC machine error sources in absolute numerical value.
Thermally-induced errors originating from machine tool errors have received significant attention recently because high speed and precise machining is now the principal trend in manufacturing proce sses using CNC machine tools. Since the thermal error model is generally a function of temperature, the thermal error compensation system contains temperature sensors with the same number of temperature variables. The minimization of the number of variables in the thermal error model can affect the economical efficiency and the possibility of unexpected sensor fault in a error compensation system. This paper presents a thermal error model with minimum number of variables using a fuzzy logic strategy. The proposed method using a fuzzy logic strategy does not require any information about the characteristics of the plant contrary to numerical analysis techniques, but the developed thermal error model guarantees good prediction performance. The proposed modeling method can also be applied to any type of CNC machine tool if a combination of the possible input variables is determined because the error model parameters are only calculated mathematically-based on the number of temperature variables.
Recently, accurate prediction of power consumption based on machine learning techniques in Internet of Energy (IoE) has been actively studied using the large amount of electricity data acquired from advanced metering infrastructure (AMI). In this paper, we propose a deep learning model based on Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU) as an artificial intelligence (AI) network that can effectively perform pattern recognition of time series data such as the power consumption, and analyze performance of the prediction based on real household power usage data. In the performance analysis, performance comparison between the proposed GRU-based learning model and the conventional learning model of Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) is described. In the simulation results, mean squared error (MSE), mean absolute error (MAE), forecast skill score, normalized root mean square error (RMSE), and normalized mean bias error (NMBE) are used as performance evaluation indexes, and we confirm that the performance of the prediction of the proposed GRU-based learning model is greatly improved.
The imprecise computation technique ensures that all time-critical tasks produce their results before their deadlines by trading off the quality of the results for the computation time requirements of the tasks. In the imprecise computation, most scheduling problems of satisfying both 0/1 constraints and timing constraints, while the total error is minimized, are NP-complete when the optional tasks have arbitrary processing times. In the previous studies, the reasonable strategies of scheduling tasks with the 0/1 constraints on uniprocessors and multiprocessors for minimizing the total error are proposed. But, these algorithms are all off-line algorithms. Then, in the on-line scheduling, NORA(No Off-line tasks and on-line tasks Ready upon Arrival) algorithm can find a schedule with the minimum total error. In NORA algorithm, EDF(Earliest Deadline First) strategy is adopted in the scheduling of optional tasks. On the other hand, for the task system with 0/1 constraints, NORA algorithm may not suitable any more for minimizing total error of the imprecise tasks. Therefore, in this paper, an on-line algorithm is proposed to minimize total error for the imprecise real-time task system with 0/1 constraints. This algorithm is suitable for the imprecise on-line system with 0/1 constraints. Next, to evaluate performance of this algorithm, a series of experiments are done. As a consequence of the performance comparison, it has been concluded that IOSMTE(Imprecise On-line Scheduling to Minimize Total Error) algorithm proposed in this paper outperforms LOF(Longest Optional First) strategy and SOF(Shortest Optional First) strategy for the most cases.
Metaheuristic algorithms can work well in solving or optimizing problems, especially those that require approximation or do not have a good analytical solution. Particle swarm optimization (PSO) is one of these algorithms. The response quality of these algorithms depends on the objective function and its regulated parameters. The nonlinear nature of the pressurized light-water nuclear reactor (PWR) dynamics is a significant target for PSO. The two-point kinetics model of this type of reactor is used because of fission products properties. The proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller is intended to control the power level of the PWR at a short-time transient. The absolute error (IAE), integral of square error (ISE), integral of time-absolute error (ITAE), and integral of time-square error (ITSE) objective functions have been used as performance indexes to tune the PID gains with PSO. The optimization results with each of them are evaluated with the number of function evaluations (NFE). All performance indexes achieve good results with differences in the rate of over/under-shoot or convergence rate of the cost function, in the desired time domain.
그래서 우리는 MEC(multimedia-oriented error control)라고 명명된 오류 제어 기법을 제안하였다. Abstract Communication performance requirements are described as QoS parameters in multimedia communication. One of the important QoS parameters is the reliability of the transfer. As a QoS parameter, the reliability defines error detection, report and correction mechanisms. Conventional error control mechanisms, however, do not consider the integrated viewpoint of multimedia data. So we have proposed the MEC(multimedia-oriented error control). 1 In this paper, we have investigated the performance evaluation of the MEC. The results show that the MEC mechanism provides lower transfer delay and blocking probability than those of the conventional error recovery mechanism. Therefore, the proposed MEC mechanism makes the transport protocol have the flexibility and high performance.
A new blind equalization algorithm that is based on maximizing the probability that the constant modulus errors concentrate near zero is proposed. The cost function of the proposed algorithm is to maximize the probability that the equalizer output power is equal to the constant modulus of the transmitted symbols. Two blind information-theoretic learning (ITL) algorithms based on constant modulus error signals are also introduced: One for minimizing the Euclidean probability density function distance and the other for minimizing the constant modulus error entropy. The relations between the algorithms and their characteristics are investigated, and their performance is compared and analyzed through simulations in multi-path channel environments. The proposed algorithm has a lower computational complexity and a faster convergence speed than the other ITL algorithms that are based on a constant modulus error. The error samples of the proposed blind algorithm exhibit more concentrated density functions and superior error rate performance in severe multi-path channel environments when compared with the other algorithms.
A general method for the evaluation of the symbol error probability (SER) of ultra wideband (UWB) systems with various kind of modulation schemes (N-PAM, M-PPM, Bi-Orthogonal), in presence of multipath channel, multiuser and strong narrowband interference, is presented. This method is shown to be able to include all the principal multiaccess techniques proposed so far for UWB, time hopping (TH), direct sequence (DS) and optical orthogonal codes (OOC). A comparison between the performance of these multiple access and modulation techniques is given, for both ideal Rake receiver and minimum mean square error (MMSE) equalizer. It is shown that for all the analyzed multiple access schemes, a Rake receiver exhibits a high error floor in presence of narrowband interference (NBI) and that the value of the error floor is in-fluenced by the spectral characteristics of the spreading code. As expected, an MMSE receiver offers better performance, representing a promising candidate for UWB systems. When the multiuser interference is dominant, all multiple access techniques exhibit similar performance under high-load conditions. If the number of users is significantly lower than the spreading factor, then DS outperforms both TH and OOC. Finally 2PPM is shown to offer better performance than the other modulation schemes in presence of multiuser interference; increasing the spreading factor is proposed as a more effective strategy for SER reduction than the use of time diversity.

Hardware components are an integral part of Hardware Define Radio (HDR) for seamless operations and optimal performance. On the other hand, Software Define Radio (SDR) is a program that does not rely on any hardware components for its performance. Both of the latter radio programmers utilize modulation functions to make their core components from signal processing viewpoint. The following paper concentrates on SDR based modulation and their performance under different modulations. The bit error rate (BER) of modulations such as PSK, QAM, and PSAM were used as indicators to test channel quality estimation in planar Rayleigh fading. Though it is not commonly used for channel fading, the method of the adder determines the regionally segmented channel fading. Thus, the estimation error of the channel change substantially reduces the performance of the signal, hence, proving to be an effective option. Moreover, this paper also elaborates that BER is calculated as a function of the sample size (signal length) with an average of 20 decibels. Consequently, the size of the results for different modulation schemes has been explored. The analytical results through derivations have been verified through computer simulation. The results focused on parameters of amplitude estimation error for 1dB reduction in the average signal-to-noise ratio, while the combined amplitude deviation estimation error results are obtained for a 3.5 dB reduction
In this paper, we drive a theoretical performance of complementary code keying (CCK) codes on additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. The CCK codes can be demodulated by the optimal maximum likelihood decoding method and sub-optimal correlation magnitude decoding algorithm. We calculate the bit error rate (BER) and symbol or codeword error rate (SER) of the CCK codes using the above mentioned two decoding algorithms. To derive the error performance, we use the weigh distributions and cross-correlation distributions of CCK codes.
