  • In this paper, we propose a design method of Reed-Solomon (23, 17) decoder for UWB using direct decoding method. The direct decoding algorithm is more efficient for the case of relatively small error correction capability. The proposed decoder requires only 9 $GF(2^m)$ multipliers in obtaining the error-locator polynomial and the error-evaluator polynomial, whereas other decoders need about 20 multipliers. Thus, the attractive feature of this decoder is its remarkable simplicity from the point of view of hardware implementation. Futhermore, the proposed decoder has very simple control circuit and short decoding delay. Therefore this decoder can be implemented by simple hardware and also save buffer memory which stores received sequence.

  • The use of an error-correcting code is essential in communication systems where the channel is noisy. Unless a receiver has accurate channel coding parameters, it becomes difficult to decode the digitized encoding bits correctly. In this paper, we propose two algorithms for reconstructing convolutional codes: one for general convolutional codes and the other for punctured convolutional codes. And we also verify the algorithms by performing intensive computer simulation in additive white gaussian noise (AWGN) channel.

  • In this paper, we introduce three modulation codes of the code rate 1/2 with different minimum distances, respectively, and investigate the performance of the codes according to the minimum distance. We simulate the codes in accordance with blur and misalignment. As the minimum distance increases, the complexity of encoder and decoder also grows. However, it can improve the error correcting capability and shows good performance with blur and misalignment.

  • Reed-Solomon(RS) code which is especially effective against burst error is studied as a forward error correction technique in this ppaer. The circuits of RS encoder and decoder for ASIC implementation are designed and presented employing modified Euclid's algorithm. The functionalities of the designed circuits are verified though C programs which simulates the circuits over the various errors and erasures. The pipelined circuits using systolic arrays are designed for ASIC realization in VHDL, and verified through the logic simulations. Finally the circuit synthesis of RS encoder and decoder can be achieved.

  • In this paper, a new receiver for a frequency-hopped multilevel FSK system for mobile Communications is presented. This new receiver provides an implementation advantage by eliminating unecessary energy detection of all the frequency channels. A performace analysis of the proposed system is carried out by using the union bound. We show that an optimim number of message bits that minimize the word error probability exists for a given number of simultaneous users. This scheme is a generalization of the MFSK system that allows the message bits to be uaried, making it possible for designers to increase the flexibility of implementation. Error probabilities are calculated in the case of fixed bandwidth and fixed tone repetition number. The effect of using error-correcting coding is considered.

  • Underwater acoustic communication has multipath error because of reflection by sea-level and sea-bottom. The multipath of underwater channel causes signal distortion and error floor. In this paper, in order to design an efficient packet structure, we employ channel coding scheme and phase recovery algorithm. For channel coding scheme, half rate LDPC channel coding scheme with N=1944 and K=972 was used. Also, decision directed phase recovery was used for correcting phase offset induced by multipath. Based on these algorithms, we propose length of data for optimal packet structure in the environment of oceanic experimentation.

  • A soft-decision decoding scheme of a channel code for correcting an error occurring in a receiver of a digital communication systems is proposed. A method for efficiently decoding by use of the linear and arithmetic structure of linear block codes is presented. In this way, the probability of decoding errors has been reduced. In addition, it is possible to reduce the complexity of decoding as well. Sufficient conditions for achieving optimal decoding has been derived. As a result, the sufficient conditions enable efficient search for candidate codewords. With the proposed decoding scheme, we can effectively perform the decoding while lowering the block error probability.

  • Multimedia fingerprinting protects multimedia content from illegal redistribution by uniquely marking every copy of the content distributed to each user. Differ from a symmetric/asymmetric scheme, fingerprinting schemes, only regular user can know the inserted fingerprint data and the scheme guarantee an anonymous before recontributed data. In this paper, we present a scheme which is the algorithm using LDPC(Low Density Parity Check) for detection of colluded multimedia fingerprint and correcting errors. This proposed scheme is consists of the LDPC block, Hopfield Network and the algorithm of anti-collusion code generation. Anti-collusion code based on BIBD(Balanced Incomplete Block Design) was made 100% collusion code detection rate about the linear collusion attack(average, AND and OR) and LD% block for the error bits correction confirmed that can correct error until AWGN 0dB.

  • The future society requires not only knowledge but also various competencies, including creativity, cooperative spirit and integrated thinking. This research develops a program for integrating mathematics and information science to enhance important mathematical competencies such as problem-solving and communication. This program does not require much prior knowledge, can be motivated using everyday language and easy-to-access tools, and is based on creative problem-solving activities with multilateral cooperation. The usefulness and rigor of mathematics are emphasized as the number of participants increases in the activities, and theoretical principles stem from the matrix theory over finite fields. Moreover, the activity highlights a connection with error-correcting codes, an important topic in information science. We expect that the real-world contexts of this program contribute to enhancing mathematical communication competence and providing an opportunity to experience the values of mathematics and that this program to be accessible to teachers since coding is not included.

  • A code-based cryptosystem can resist quantum-computing attacks. However, an original system based on the Goppa code has a large key size, which makes it unpractical in embedded devices with limited sources. Many special error-correcting codes have recently been developed to reduce the key size, and yet these systems are easily broken through side channel attacks, particularly differential power analysis (DPA) attacks, when they are applied to hardware devices. To address this problem, a higher-order masking scheme for a McEliece cryptosystem based on the quasi-dyadic moderate density parity check (QD-MDPC) code has been proposed. The proposed scheme has a small key size and is able to resist DPA attacks. In this paper, a novel McEliece cryptosystem based on the QD-MDPC code is demonstrated. The key size of this novel cryptosystem is reduced by 78 times, which meets the requirements of embedded devices. Further, based on the novel cryptosystem, a higher-order masking scheme was developed by constructing an extension Ishai-Sahai-Wagne (ISW) masking scheme. The authenticity and integrity analysis verify that the proposed scheme has higher security than conventional approaches. Finally, a side channel attack experiment was also conducted to verify that the novel masking system is able to defend against high-order DPA attacks on hardware devices. Based on the experimental validation, it can be concluded that the proposed higher-order masking scheme can be applied as an advanced protection solution for devices with limited resources.
