Impedance Spectroscopy Analysis of Hydration in Ordinary Portland Cements Involving Chemical Mechanical Planarization Slurry

  • Impedance spectroscopy was used to monitor the hydration in the electrical/dielectric behaviors of chemical mechanical planarization (CMP)-blended cement mixtures. The electrical responses were analyzed using their equivalent circuit models, leading to the separation of the bulk and electrode based responses. The role of the CMP slurry was monitored as a function of the relative compositions of the CMP-blended cements, i.e. water, CMP slurry, and ordinary Portland cement. The presence of $Al_2O_3$ nanocrystals in the CMP slurries appeared to accelerate the hydration process, along with a more tortuous microstructure in the hydration, with enhanced hydration products. The frequency-dependent impedance spectroscopy was proven to be a highly efficient approach for evaluating the electrical/dielectric monitoring of the change in the pore structure evolution that occurs in CMP-blended cements.

배플이 없는 사각형 음향센서의 자기방사 임피던스 (Self-Radiation Impedance of rectangular Acoustic Sensor Without Baffle)

  • 배플이 없는 폴리우레탄 유한 윈도우를 장착한 사각형 음향 센서의 수중 음향방사로 인한 자기방사 임피던스 (self-radiation impedance)의 컨덕턴스(conductance)와 서셉턴스(susceptance)를 실험으로 계측 하여 이를 전기적 등가회로를 이용하여 수중방사 임피던스 양을 계산하였다. 또한 무한배플(rigid infinite baffle)의 사각형 피스톤을 모델로 선정한 Levine식을 이용하여 음향방사로 인한 자기방사 임피던스를 적분식으로 표시하고 이것을 방사 저항과 방사 리액턴스로 분리하여 수치해석하였다. 실험의 경계조건과 비유적 유사한 이론해석 결과를 실험치와 비교하였다.

Electrochemical Oxidation of Ethanol at $RuO_2-Modified$ Nickel Electrode in Alkaline Media Studied by Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy

  • Electrochemical oxidation of ethanol has been studied at nickel and $RuO_2-modified$ nickel electrodes in 1 M KOH using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Equivalent circuits have been worked out from simulation of impedance data to model oxidation of ethanol as well as the passivation of the electrode. The charge-transfer resistances for oxidation of these electrodes became smaller in the presence of ethanol than in its absence. The nickel substrate facilitated ethanol oxidation at $RuO_2-modified$ nickel electrodes. We also describe the Performance of nanosized electrocatalysts of the same composition in comparison to those of the bulk electrodes. The nanosized electrodes were obtained by electrode-positing the alloy from complexed form of these metal ions with fourth and fifth generation polyamidoamine dendrimers.

Relative Comparison of Cathode Polarizations in Solid Oxide Fuel Cells Using the Spreading Concept in AC 2 Point Impedance Spectroscopy

  • A modified two-point impedance spectroscopy technique exploits the geometric constriction between an electrolyte and a cathode with an emphasis on semispherical-shaped electrolytes. The spatial limitation in the electrolyte/electrode interface leads to local amplification of the electrochemical reaction occurring in the corresponding electrolyte/electrode region. The modified impedance spectroscopy was applied to electrical monitoring of a YSZ ($Y_2O_3$-stabilized $ZrO_2$)/SSC ($Sm_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}CoO_3$) system. The resolved bulk and interfacial component was numerically analyzed in combination with an equivalent circuit model. The effectiveness of the "spreading resistance" concept is validated by analysis of the electrode polarization in the cathode materials of solid oxide fuel cells.

  • Although DC ground resistance is a good index of grounding performance for grounding electrodes, it does not reflect the grounding performance during transient state. Besides, impulse ground impedance, which is defined by a ratio of the peak value of transient ground potential rise to the peak value of impulse current, cannot be an absolute index due to its dependence on impulse current shape. In this paper, ground impedance of various rod-type ground electrodes has been measured in frequency domain ranging from 1 Hz to hundreds of kHz. Equivalent circuit models of the ground rod have been identified from the measured values of ground impedance in frequency domain.

Knowledge-Based Approach Using Support Vector Machine for Transmission Line Distance Relay Co-ordination

  • In this paper, knowledge-based approach using Support Vector Machines (SVMs) are used for estimating the coordinated zonal settings of a distance relay. The approach depends on the detailed simulation studies of apparent impedance loci as seen by distance relay during disturbance, considering various operating conditions including fault resistance. In a distance relay, the impedance loci given at the relay location is obtained from extensive transient stability studies. SVMs are used as a pattern classifier for obtaining distance relay co-ordination. The scheme utilizes the apparent impedance values observed during a fault as inputs. An improved performance with the use of SVMs, keeping the reach when faced with different fault conditions as well as system power flow changes, are illustrated with an equivalent 265 bus system of a practical Indian Western Grid.

  • The investigation of the equivalent circuit models for the electrode/electrolyte interface has been pursued for a long time by several researchers. Previous circuit models fit the experimental results in limited conditions such as frequency range, type of electrode, or electrolyte. This paper describes a new electrical circuit model and its capability of fitting the experimental results. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy was used to characterize the interface for Au, Pt, and stainless steel electrode in 0.9% NaCl solution. Both the proposed model and the previous model were applied to fit the measured impedance results for comparison. The proposed model fits the experimental data more accurately than other models especially at the low frequency range, and it enables us to predict the impedance at very low frequency range, including DC, using the proposed model.

  • For a low dielectric constant inter-metal dielectric application, the low-k SiCOH film with a dielectric constant of 2.8-3.2 has been deposited by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition with decamethylcyclopentasiloxane, cyclohexane, and helium which is carrier gas. In this work, we investigated chemical deposition rate, dielectric constant, characterization of plasma polymer films according to temperature(25C-200C) of substrate and change of component concentration. We measured impedance by using V-I prove during process. From experimental result, deposition rate decrease with increasing temperature. Through real time impedance analysis of chamber, we find corelation between film thickness and impedance by assuming equivalent circuit.

  • The equivalent electroacoustic circuit approach has been conventionally used for estimating the absorption coefficient of a single layer perforated plate system. When the single layer system is extended to the multiple layer ones, however, it is found that an analogy error has been involved in the equivalent electroacoustic parallel circuit approach proposed by previous investigators. The analogy error is demonstrated by the corrected equivalent electroacoustic circuit approach in this study.
