  • This study investigates how discrete choice analysis can be applied to health care operations. Discrete choice analysis helps to understand the complex decision-making process of purchasing expensive medical equipments by identifying relative weights that decision makers impose on each attribute through simple virtual choice experiments. We also verified the usefulness of applying discrete choice analysis to the purchase of medical equipments with empirical evidence.

  • This paper proposes the demand-side management(DSM) monitoring system of high efficient end-use equipments considering demand-side bidding (DSB). The effect on the market penetration of high efficient equipments by demand side bidding is analysed. Seasonal peak demand forecasting and penetration capacity of these equipments . are analysed.

  • In Korea, co-utilization of research equipments has been low, even though co-utilization policies for them have been implemented for a long time. This situation results because the policy formation and implementation for the co-utilization of research equipments have been conducted from the perspectives of the policy maker not from those of the researchers and equipment managers. Therefore, this work has been conducted for analyzing the current state of co-utilization of research equipments as well as for discussing the future developments of its more co-utilization in the basic research programs by adopting the bottom approach in policy implementation theory. The research shows that firstly principal investigators, especially professors in universities, have placed a relatively low priority on the co-utilization of research equipments, secondly implementation resources such as high quality technicians and affordable budget for co-utilization are scare, thirdly incentives for the activation of co-utilization in the stage of daily operation of research equipments are lacking. As a result, the study tries to develop a more economic means and information tools for the promotion of co-utilization of research equipments in the perspectives of bottom-up approach in policy implementation theory.

A Study of X-ray Output for Diagnostic X-ray Equipment (진단용 X선 발생 장치의 X선 출력에 관한 연구)

  • For the managements of the diagnostic X-ray equipments, the authors examined the output of single phase rectification assembly, Three phase rectification assembly and serial radiographic appartus, and got the following conclusions. 1. When the tube voltages in X-ray control panels ware compared to the measured values on the kVp pulse meter, only little differences were detected in all the X-ray equipments. And most of the equipments were all well managed within the internationally permitted limits, excepting the 12.02 % error at 120 kVp in three phase rectifying assembly. 2. As for the X-ray qualities affecting the X-ray images, the serial radiographic apparatus showed excellence, while the single phase rectification assembly were somewhat inferior to the others only maining the internationally recommended limits. 3. The tube voltage ranges where the X-ray output showed excellence were $100{\sim}200\;mA$ in serial radiographic apparatus, $200{\sim}350\;mA$ in three phase rectification assembly and $350{\sim}400\;mA$ in single phase rectification assembly respectively. 4. In the repeatability test of the X-ray equipments, CVs were in the range of $0.0029{\sim}0.049$, which is within the HEW or KS standards. Consequently all the equipments are thought to be well-manage. 5. This study on characteristics and output of the X-ray equipments was accomplished within a limited short time. Long-time researches on the function managements for the X-ray equipments should be followed along with the periodical checking the output for reduction of X-ray exposures to the patients or radio-technologists, and for maintanance and prediction of trouble of the equipments.

  • This paper was performed research for the total filtration in the useful beam of 45 diagnostic x-ray equipments using in Korea. We obtained the following results: 1. A good ability of total filtration was showed in higher than lower maximum permissible rating equipments. 2. In 53 percentage of 45 diagnostic x-ray equipments, the total filtration in the useful x-ray beam was not less than the values given in the Korean industrial standard. This results suggested to user to need the more ability management of diagnostic x-ray equipments using now.

  • This paper considers and suggests the life cycle of the power equipments installed in buildings. The target equipments were divided into 5 groups by a couple of conditions, and a theoretical consideration and domestic foreign case studies were carried out. As a result, the most appropriate life cycles and monitoring periods were suggested for each group. The suggested results are expected to practically help the field electricians determine whether they have to replace the deteriorated equipments or not.

  • Failure of essential avionic equipments have a significant impact on the operations and safety of P-3 maritime patrol aircraft. Therefore, avionic equipments of P-3 are required to have higher reliability. Based on the field failure data, this paper studies the reliability growth of essential avionic equipments in P-3 using Duane model. Additionally, a simulation model is built and implemented for identifying the operational availability according to the field failure data of avionic equipments.

  • Signalling equipments at railroad sites are widely exposed to high voltage lightning surges. This paper presents a lightning protection system for the signalling equipments at subway car depots. The main features of the system are as follows : (1)the common grounding system between power system grounds and the signaling system grounds, (2)physical and chemical methods to reduce grounding resistivity, (3)rearrangement of lightning rods based on the rolling bal1 theory, (4)equi-potential bonding networks to minimize the potential differences between the equipments grounds. The system has been constructed at six subway car depots in Seoul metropolitan area and it is measured that the grounding resistivity are reduced to 0.266 ohms and the potential differences between devices are reduced to a negligible quantity. After the construction of the systems, it has not been reported the break-down of the signalling equipments caused by lighting surges.
