A Study o Environmentally Conscious Behavior of Private Households -Focused on Energy, Money and Time Resources- (가계의 환경의식적 소비특성에 관한 연구 -에너지, 금전 및 시간자원 사용을 중심으로-)

  • The objectives of this study were to measure the characteristics of environmentally conscious behavior in the private household focused on energy consumption, money expenditure and time usage, and to determine the socioeconomic variables, environmental consciousness and environmental education which are associated with the environmentally conscious behavior of private households. The data for this study were collected in a personal interview and the final sample consisted of 178 respondents and the statistics employed to analyze the data are discriminant analysis $\chi$2-test. As a result of the discriminant analysis, it was shown that environmentally conscious private households consumed less energy, had lower transportation costs, but spent more time in purchasing behavior in the market compared with those who did not exhibit environmentally conscious behavior. Environmentally conscious behavior of private households differed significantly according to the education of housewives, and also to the level of environmental consciousness and environmental education of the respondents.

  • In a mega competition having no national boundaries, we have to apply the logistics system considering an environment seriously and to construct the environmentally conscious logistics system (ECLS) with the forward and reverse logistics system of a companies. The objectives of this research were to provide strategies required for implementation of the environmentally conscious logistics system. And also, we propose the future research topics needed for improvement of the studies on environmentally conscious logistics system.

A Difference Analysis Among Nationality, Gender and Age Regarding Environmentally Conscious Behavior (친환경 행동에 대한 국가, 성별, 연령 차이분석)

  • The study seeks to determine how much environmentally conscious behaviors vary depending on the nationality, gender and age. For its purpose, this study suggests hypotheses that Korean and American consumers, who are culturally different from each other, show differences from each other in environmentally conscious behaviors. An interaction effect is also expected between gender and age. With regard to environmentally conscious behavior. Meanwhile, the study tried to examine whether personal values have any mediating effect on the behaviors. The findings of this study can be summarized as follows. Environmentally conscious behaviors by American consumers were more significant than those by Korean consumers. And men were more positive in making environmentally conscious behaviors than women were. In addition, there were interaction effects between nationality and gender, and nationality and age. Furthermore, personal values, depending on age, were found to have moderating effects on environmentally conscious behaviors.

  • This paper was written to find the tendency of pro-environmental consumer behavior and environmentally conscious citizen behavior of university students. The difference between two behavioral tendencies were existed and variables influenced on those tendencies each other. The results were as follows: 1. The pro-environmental consumer behavior of university students was consisted of five tendencies, such as practice in life, environment preservation, environment consideration, patience in uncomfortableness and diversity in circumstances. 2. The environmentally conscious citizen behavior of University students were consisted of four tendencies, such as environment contamination, self-centered, resource economy, pollution reduction. 3. The pro-environmental consumer behavior tendencies of university students were inconsistent with those of environmentally conscious citizen behavior. 4. The variables influenced on those tendencies were sex, concern in environment problem and living condition.

  • Recently, there is growing recognition that we should protect an environment in all industries. As one of the OECD in the world trade market, we have to apply the Envirormentally Conscious Logistics System(ECLS) considering an environment seriously, and to implement environmentally conscious logistics activities. A packaging of entire logistics system have to also do it. Therefore, the objectives of this study were to discuss and to make an overture which an environmental packaging system of logistics system is by introducing a case study.

  • The study aims to examine consumer awareness of green fashion products and demographic characteristics by subdividing environmentally conscious consumers of such products in the current domestic fashion market. It then compares the result with the characteristics of environmentally conscious consumers studied by 1999 in order to understand the trend of the consumer group in the fashion market and to promote the use of green fashion products. Marketing strategies for green fashion products suggested by the study are as follows: First, fashion firms are required to develop and publicize shops selling recycled or second-hand clothing that environmentally conscious consumers show constant interest. For instance, clothing patterns may be developed to enable consumers to make their kids' clothing easily at home, and various garments made from recycled materials may stimulate environmentally conscious consumers' desire to buy. Particularly, advanced technologies should be developed and publicized to manufacture garments that can excel existing ones made of normal materials in their features in order to satisfy consumers' interest in clothing made from recycled PET bottles. In addition, various natural dyes should be developed to decrease water pollution. Second, it seems imperative to develop clothing made of recycled knitted apparel that attracts consumers' interest more than ever, fashionable multi-purpose clothing, and environmentally friendly materials. As the use of natural fur or leather can cause the endangerment of wild animals and the destruction of the ecosystem, synthetic fur or leather may be used to develop sophisticated products with the same texture as real ones to attract environmentally conscious consumers' interest.

  • Environmental factors have become important in manufacturing planning due to governmental regulations and a growing preference for "green" products. However, planning decisions must also consider traditional dimensions such as production rate and quality. In this study, technology related to basic dicision method of environmentally conscious machining considered economic view was dealed. And experiments of dry type machining excluded coolant and semi-dry type machining using minimum coolant were established for the comparison of conventional machining ouputs.ng ouputs.

As the environmental regulations become stricter, new machining technologies which take environmental aspects into consideration are being developed Industry and research institutions established applications for dry, semi-dry, oil-mist and compressed cold air machining. This paper investigates the performance of new compressed cold air system for environmentally conscious machining and evaluates machinability of dry and new compressed cold air machining. A series of tests are carried out using measuring eqipments under dry and compressed cold air machining.

  • Environmentally conscious machining and technology have been taking more and more important position in machining process. Since cutting fluid has some impact on environment, many researches are being carried out to minimize the use of cutting fluid. It can be Increased the environmental pollution through not using coolant any more or minimizing it. In this study, the cooling effects of cutting methods using the compressed cold air, dry cutting and cutting fluid will investigate in the blade machining. In order to examine the characteristics of cutting and tool in the environmentally conscious machining, this work investigates experimentally the degree of tool wear, cutting force and characteristics of surface roughness in relation to machining conditions and cooling methods.
