  • Learning has become an important aspect for any organization to stay relevant and competitive in the corporate world of survival. In construction industry, the international construction joint ventures (ICJVs) provide an excellent platform with opportunity of learning among partners seeking to develop new area of competency and improve their overall competitiveness for their next project endeavor. This paper discusses the development of a conceptual model of effective learning in ICJVs using four major stages of development in a typical joint venture (JV) 's process. The study identified that there are three key constructs that contribute to effective learning comprising learning conditions in the JV's pre-inception stage, success factors of JV for learning in the forming & organizing stage, and learning actions in the implementation & adjustment stage. The effective learning outcomes are measured by the characteristics of learning organization during the JV's completion & evaluation stage. Details and issues of each stage and the methodology of research will be presented and discussed.

  • The study is based on the technology-organization-environment (TOE) model which, attempted to determine the factors that are going to influence ICT adoption. The proposed research model evaluates the interplay among technological context (IT infrastructure, system security, and user capacity), organizational context (top management commitment, and innovations strategies), environmental context (quick response to the external agencies, interactive network infrastructure, and competitive pressure) and ICT adoption (productivity growth, organizational change, and competitiveness). Data were collected from 243 senior executives of full member firms of the Bangladesh Garments and Manufacturers Association (BGMEA) of examining the relationships among the constructs in the proposed framework utilizing structural equation modeling (SEM). The analysis of TOE factors revealed that environmental, organizational, and technological factors have a significant impact on the successful implementation of ICT tools. The study also discusses implications for management practitioners.

  • Evapotranspiration (ET) is one of the main factor to understand the hydrologic cycle on land surfaces of entire globe. It accounts for about 65% of precipitation returning to the atmosphere. Accurate estimation of the ET is essential to many applications of water resources management, hydrology, meteorology, climatology, and agriculture. Over the past few decades, there have been extensive efforts to develop and validate a number of ET models. Priestley-Taylor (P-T) and Food and Agriculture Organization Penman-Monteith (P-M) models are generally recognized as simple, but great operational approaches to estimate ET over different land cover types. In this study, we compare/validate different models of increasing complexity, P-T, P-M, and Common Land Model (CLM) in croplands, IA.

Power distance propensity is one of the important organizational and cultural factors that influence the development of the organization. There is a big difference in the attitude of the members of the organization to perform their work according to the tendency of the distance of power. As a result of the main study, the overall level of power distance propensity of the subjects was 2.55 points on average. In particular, there was a significant difference in the propensity of power distance according to class (p<0.05). In the future, it is necessary to study the effect of job characteristics according to the rank of firefighters on the propensity to distance power. It is expected to form a positive organizational culture of the firefighting organization by utilizing the power distance tendency of the members of the organization.
