뉴스생산 환경 및 조직과 기자의 정치적 성향, 업무 수행 자유도가 언론의 전문성, 공정성 인식에 미치는 영향 연구 (The Influence of the Environmental Conditions, the Political Tendency and the Degree of Freedom during Performance on the Perception of Journalists on the Quality of the Press)

  • 이 연구는 언론인들이 기사를 생산함에 있어서 스스로 전문성, 공정성을 판단할 때 영향을 미치는 요인은 무엇인가에 대한 것이다. 슈메이커와 리즈의 계층 모델을 이론적 근거로 하여 뉴스생산 환경의 차이, 조직과 개인의 정치적 성향 일치도, 기자들의 업무 수행 자유도에 따라 언론인이 전문성과 공정성 인식에 어떠한 영향을 받는지 분석하였다. 연구 결과 첫째, 온라인 매체 종사자들이 오프라인 매체 종사자들보다 자신들의 보도 공정성을 높게 평가했다. 둘째, 오프라인과 온라인 매체 종사자 간에 조직의 정치 성향 일치도 판단에 있어서 차이가 났고, 이러한 인식이 언론 공정성 평가에 영향을 미치고 있었다. 셋째, 업무 수행 자유도가 높을수록 언론의 공정성을 높게 평가했고, 언론 보도의 공정성을 높게 평가할수록 업무를 전문적이라고 평가했다. 이는 소속 매체 특성에 따라 인식의 차이가 있음을 보여주는 것이다. 이 연구의 의의는 한국언론진흥재단에서 실시하고 있는 '언론인 의식조사'의 설문 원시 자료를 활용하여 2차 자료 분석을 통해 연구했다는 점이다. 특히 소속 매체에 따라 조직의 정치적 성향, 업무 수행 자유도 측면에서 뉴스 생산 환경에 대한 우리나라 언론인들의 인식이 어떠한지 분석했다는 점에서 저널리즘 측면의 의의가 있다. 언론의 공정성과 전문성 평가에 영향을 미치는 요인은 결국 기사의 질이라는 결과물로 나타나기 때문에 뉴스생산 환경의 정치적 자유가 매우 중요하다는 것을 추론할 수 있다.

비점오염물질 처리를 위한 생물막 공정의 운전 및 미생물 군집의 특성 (Study on the Performances and Microbial Community in the Biofilm Process for Treating Nonpoint Source Pollutants)

  • 본 연구에서는 비점오염물질을 처리하기 위해 생물막 공정이 도입되었다. 반응기내의 생물막의 성장으로 위해 세라믹 담체가 사용되었으며, 담체의 충전률은 각각 5% 및 15(v/v)%였다. 이후, 반응기는 각각 0, 5, 10, 15일의 무강우기간에 따라 회분식으로 운전되었다. COD 및 NH$_4{^+}$-N의 제거효율이 담체 충전률, 온도 및 무강우기간에 따라 조사되었으며, 추가적으로 polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-denaturing gel gradient electrophoresis(DGGE)와 INT-dehydrogenase activity(DHA) test를 통하여 미생물 군집 및 활성도가 해석되었다. 운전 결과, 무강우기간이 늘어남에도 충전률에 관계없이 COD의 제거는 안정적으로 일어났다. COD는 25$^{\circ}C$에서는 6$\sim$8 hr, 10$^{\circ}C$에서는 약 15 hr의 반응시간이 필요하였다. DGGE 분석 결과, 무강우기간이 늘어남에 따라 식종 슬러지에서 발견되는 미생물에서 저니토에서 주로 발견되는 미생물로 변화됨을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 INT-DHA법에 의한 미생물의 활성도 측정 결과, 15일의 무강우기간에도 활성도의 감소는 관찰되지 않았다.

Different Profiles of the Negatively Stained Citrus Canker Bacterium Xanthomonas citri pv. citri Depending on Culture Media and Heavy Metal Stains

  • Staining profiles and bacterial morphology were compared in Xanthomonas citri pv. citri by a transmission electron microscopy. Four types of negative staining regimes were employed depending on culture media and heavy metal stains. The bacterial cells grown on LB agar media often appeared clustered on the supporting film. Meanwhile, individual bacterial cells could be readily found on the preparations from LB broth media. Typical rod-shaped cells (ca. $1\;{\mu}m$ in length) and their flagella were observed in either 2% uranyl acetate (UA) or 2% neutralized potassium phosphotungstate (PTA) staining. The UA-stained bacteria often showed relatively intact cell morphology and rather positively stained cells with a thin electron-dense stain depth around bacteria. The PTA-stained bacteria were characterized by the wrinkled cell surface where the stain was entrapped in grooves. In addition, distinct electron-dense stain depth was evident around the PTA-stained preparations. Numerous fimbriae could be mostly observed from the PTA-stained preparations of the two culture media, but not from the UA-stained preparations.

연안산업 분야별 수요조사를 통한 맞춤형 연안기상 콘텐츠 설계방안 연구 (A study on the design of customized coastal weather contents based on the demand survey with coastal industry fields)

  • In this study, the use survey of domestic and international weather information on coastal regions and the demand survey (e.g. general and in-depth surveys) for customer needs with coastal industries were carried out to design customized coastal weather contents. The general demand survey showed that most of the customers working in the coastal industries were interested in a short-term forecast, such as a general weather outlook (approximately 29% of the total respondents) and typhoon information (19%), and they preferred to be given the forecast information from new media such as the internet web-pages (36%) and mobile utilities (23%) rather than old media such as TV (16%) and radio (11%). In addition, only 31% of the total respondents were found to be satisfied with the use of the current coastal weather service. This low percentage might mainly be a result of lack of information accuracy (about 64%) and diversity (28%). From in-depth survey with site visiting, the need of coastal weather contents, such as weather elements, data form, a tool of communication, and forecast interval, differed with the working stages in three coastal industries (e.g. shipbuilding, maritime trade, and passenger transport industries).

BIOFILTRATION OF GASEOUS TOLUENE USING ADSORBENT CONTAINING POLYURETHANE FOAM MEDIA

  • In this study, conventional biofilters packed with flexible synthetic polyurethane (PU) foam carriers were operated to remove toluene from a contaminated air stream. PU foams containing various adsorbents (e.g., zeolite, sepiolite, dolomite and barite) were synthesized for the biofilter media and their adsorption characteristics of toluene were determined. Adsorption capacity of PU-adsorbent foam was in the order of PU-dolomite ${\approx}$ PU-zeolite > PU-sepiolite > PU-barite. During the biofiltration experiment, influent toluene concentration was in the range of 0-160 ppm and EBRT (i.e., empty bed residence time) was 45 seconds. Pressure drop of the biofilter bed was 4-5 mm $H_2O/m$ column height. The maximum removal capacity was in the order of PU-dolomite > PU-zeolite > PU-sepiolite > PU-barite, while the complete removal capacity was in the order of PU-dolomite > PU-sepiolite > PU-zeolite > PU-barite. The better biofiltration performance in PU-dolomite foam was because PU-dolomite foam had lower density and higher porosity than the others providing favorable conditions for microbial growth. The results of biodegradation kinetic analysis showed that PU-dolomite foam had higher maximum removal rate ($V_m\;=\;11.04\;g$ toluene/kg dry material/day) and saturation constant ($K_s\;=\;26.57\;ppm$) than the other PU foams. This supports that PU-dolomite foam was better than the others for biofilteration of toluene.

Effect of light-emitting diodes on cordycepin production in submerged Cordyceps militaris cultures

  • Light is an important factor for cordycepin production in Cordyceps militaris. We investigated the effects of different light-emitting diode (LED) conditions including various LED wavelengths and their combinations on cordycepin production in Cordyceps militaris cultivated in submerged culture. The results of our study showed that the combinations of LED wavelengths were more beneficial than single LED sources for cordycepin production. Among the three tested wavelength combinations, the greatest effects for cordycepin production were observed for the red:blue light combination at the wavelength ratio of 5:5 or 3:7. The optimal culture conditions were 19.2278 h/day of illumination time; 9.19497 g/50 mL of glucose content in the media; and 53.112 h of cultivation time. Our model predicted a maximum yield of 2860.01 ㎍/mL cordycepin. Finally, to verify the calculated maximum, we performed experiments in the culture media representing the obtained optimum combination and the cordycepin yield of 2412.5 ㎍/mL.

  • 본 연구는 멸종위기에 처한 꼬리겨우살이 종자로부터 기내배양체계 기반확립을 위해 기내 종자발아 실험을 실시하였다. 꼬리겨우살이 종자는 배지에 치상 1주 후 원기근이 형성되어 발아가 진행되었다. 배지종류와 viscin 유 무에 따른 꼬리겨우살이의 기내 종자발아율은 viscin이 제거된 종자를 SH 배지에 치상하였을 때 가장 높은 발아율(69%)을 나타냈고, 고형지지물 종류와 농도에 따른 발아율은 0.35% gelrite 첨가 시 가장 높은 발아율(75%)을 보였다. 저장 기간과 저장 상태에 따른 발아율은 채집 직후(3일 후) 조건에서 가장 높은 발아율을 나타냈고, 저장기간이 8주, 16주로 길어짐에 따라 발아율은 감소하였다. 흡착판과 흡기근은 White 기본배지에 치상하였을 때 각각 95%, 8%의 형성율을 나타내었다. 꼬리겨우살이의 기내 종자발아과정은 원기근 형성, 흡착판 형성, 흡기근 형성 순으로 진행되었다.

폭기식 잠수여상을 이용한 고밀도 양식장의 순환수 처리 -1. 해수중의 암모니아 제거 특성- (The Recycling Water Treatment of High Density Fish Culture System Using the Aerated Submerged Filter -1. Ammonia Removal Characteristics in Sea Water-)

  • Submerged filter process was used to evaluate the nitrifying efficiency of ammonia in the recycling water of marine aquatic culture system. The ammonia removal efficiency was achieved as high as $99\%$ at the hydraulic surface loading rate of up to $4.3{\ell}/m^2-day$. And the nitrite accumulation did not occur in the reactor even when the hydraulic surface loading rate of up to $36.8{\ell}/m^2day$ was applied. In the present study, the relationship between the effluent ammonia concentration and ammonia surface loading rate was formulated as an equation. The attachment rate of biofilm on the filter media at the ammonia surface loading rate of 62.3 and $311.7mg/m^2day$ was 15 and $55mg/m^2-day$, respectively, showing the linear relationship between the attachment rate and ammonia loading rates. Biofilm thickness and density of the filter media were found to be the function of the ammonia loading rate.

아민계 함침 메조포러스 실리카를 이용한 CO2 흡착 (Adsorption of CO2 on Amine-impregnated Mesorporous Silica)

  • Adsorption experiment of carbon dioxide was performed on MCM41 silica impregnated with two kinds of EDA(ethylenediamine) and MEA(monoethanolamine). The prepared adsorbents were characterized by BET surface area, X-ray diffraction and FT-IR. The $CO_2$ capture study was investigated in a U type packed column with GC/TCD. The results of XRD for MCM-41 and amine-impregnated MCM41 showed typical the hexagonal pore system. BET results showed the MCM 41 impregnated amine to have a surface area of 141 $m^2/g$ to 595 $m^2/g$ and FT-IR revealed a N-H functional group at about 1400$cm^{-1}$ to 1600$cm^{-1}$. The $CO_2$ adsorption capacity on EDA and MEA was as follow: MCM41-EDA30 > MCM41 -EDA40 >MCM41-EDA20 >MCM-EDA10 and MCM41-MEA40 >MCM41-MEA30 > MCM41-MEA20> MCM41-MEA10. The MCM41-EDA30 showed the highest adsorption capacity due to physical adsorption and chemical adsorption by amino-group content. The results suggest that mesoporous media with EDA is effective adsorbent for $CO_2$ capture from flue gases.

MTBE의 환경위해성평가 (Environmental Risk Assessment of MTBE)

  • Methyl tertiary-butyl ether(MTBE) is used as an octane enhancer in gasoline. MTBE can enter the environment at any stage in the production, storage, and transport of undiluted MTBE or MTBE-blended gasoline. Although data on concentrations of MTBE in the environment are not available, modelling of fate of MTBE has provided predictions for concentrations of MTBE in the various media to which humans and other organisms may be exposed. Many individuals do not taste or smell MTBE at the $5{\mu}g/L$ level, and thus may be exposed to higher concentrations for a significant amount of time. MTBE exposure through inhalation is likely to be below health-threatening levels, except for occupational workers such as gasoline station attendants and auto mechanics. It should be stressed, however, that there are important data gaps in our understanding of the acute and chronic toxicity of MTBE. Little or no research concern including being conducted that directly addresses these issues. Rather than any immediate ban on MTBE, I recommend consideration of phasing out MTBE in USA and other countries. During the transition phase, a number of policies are suggested to reduce the risk of using MTBE. One of these policies is that the state should invest in a research program. Such research should, for example, examine effective alternatives for motor vehicle fuels, and detect concentrations of MTBE in ambient air, water, and other environmental media.
