  • The comparative evaluation is the most effective method for site selection because the selection of waste treatment facility is to determine the optimum site out of limited candidate sites. This study adopted the ordinal scale evaluation, one of methods of comparative evaluation. The ordinal scale evaluation aims to determine the investigating items referring to the character of sites, to determine the importance factors for investigating items, and to determine the optimum site according to the quantitative evaluation. This study has focussed on reflecting the opinion of residents to the maximum extent with a weight on social and economic aspects, considering the state of confrontation against each other between the autonomous government organization and local residents, which is being emerged as a social issue relating to the evaluation rating on each item of site selection of an optimum site. Therefore, rational, and clear validity investigations and proper reduction of both time and expenses in site selection as well through this a study.

  • The energy efficiency and environment-friendly aspect of the railway system would be superior to other on-land transportation systems. In a preliminary feasibility study stage, the energy efficiency and problems related with environment are usually not considered. Selection of optimal railway line is taken into consideration include of the purpose of railway, geographical features and facility of management. The railway Alignment which could be reasons of environmental problems are focused and studied in this paper. This study performed opinions of specialists, checking of industrial environment, analysis of bid guideline to select the optimal line and executed AHP method to make quality model and choose weight factors. The investment for railway systems could be encouraged by the considering of main environmental elements evaluated with the modified noise and vibration standard for environment-friendly railway construction.

  • Currently, studies on weight reduction and fuel efficiency increase are the most important topics in the automotive industry and many studies are under way. Among them, weight reduction is the best way to raise fuel efficiency and solve environmental pollution and resource depletion. Materials such as aluminum, magnesium and carbon curing materials can be found in lightweight materials. Among these, research on improvement of bonding technology and manufacturing method of materials and improvement of material properties through study of ultrahigh strength steel sheet is expected to be the biggest part of material weight reduction. As the strength of the ultra hight strength steel sheet increases during forming, it is difficult to obtain the dimensional accuracy as the elastic restoring force increases compared to the hardness or high strength steel sheet. It is known that the spring back phenomenon is affected by various factors depending on the raw material and processing process. We have conducted analytical evaluations and studies to analyze the springback that occurs according to the cross-sectional shape of the ultra high tensile steel sheet.

Antihyperglycemic and Antihyperlipidemic Effects of Fermented Rhynchosia nulubilis in Alloxan-induced Diabetic Rats

  • Alloxan administration in rats is used as a model for non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM). NIDDM is a multifactorial disease, characterized by hyperglycemia and lipoprotein abnormalities. In this study, we evaluated the antihyperglycemic and antihyperlipidemic effects of fermented Rhynchosia nulubilis (FRN) through the regulation of glucose uptake in alloxan-induced rats. Fermented R. nulubilis was administered orally for 28 d at 500 mg/kg of body weight. Body weight and food intake were monitored every day. Biochemical parameters were quantified after 4 week. In the diabetic + FRN group, body weight increased significantly and blood glucose concentrations decreased when compared to those of the diabetic group. After 2 hr of administration, the oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) indicated a significant reduction in the diabetic + FRN group compared to diabetic group. The diabetic + FRN group experienced a significant reduction in total cholesterol, triglycerides, low density lipoprotein, coronary risk factors, and malondialdehyde concentrations, with significantly increased high density lipoprotein compared to those of diabetic group. These results demonstrate that fermented R. nulubilis possesses potent antihyperglycemic and antihyperlipidemic activity in alloxan-induced diabetic rats.

  • 항공기 내 장비의 장착 위치 결정은 환경조건, 감항성, 정비성 등 고려해야 할 사항이 많아 정량적인 기준을 세우기 힘들다. 또한 장비의 숫자 증가에 따라 설계안은 기하급수적으로 늘어나기 때문에 제한된 일정 내에 검토하기 위하여 설계자의 경험에 많이 의존하여 설계가 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 설계안을 비교할 수 있는 정량적인 기준을 만들기 위하여 장비의 위치에 따른 와이어링 하네스 길이 및 중량을 계산하는 방법과 유전 알고리즘을 이용하여 와이어링 하네스의 중량과 장비들의 CG를 최적화하는 방법을 제안하였다. 그리고 최적설계와 실제설계를 비교하여 최적화 결과가 유용함을 확인하였다.

비육돈의 도체성적 변화 추세와 환경적인 요인 분석 (Phenotypic Trend and Environmental Factors for Carcass Traits in Commercial Pigs)

  • 본 연구는 1999년부터 2005년까지 부산경남축산물공판장에서 도축된 비육돈 1,251,572두의 자료를 이용하여 돼지의 주요 도체형질인 도축체중, 등지방두께와 도체등급에 대한 년도별 도체등급 변화 추세와 환경적인 요인을 분석하였다. 도축체중의 경우 암퇘지, 수퇘지 및 거세돼지가 각각 $82.97{\pm}0.008$, $82.00{\pm}0.090$$82.79{\pm}0.008kg$으로 조사되었다. 등지방두께는 암퇘지, 수퇘지 및 거세돼지가 각각 $19.27{\pm}0.006$, $15.99{\pm}0.072$$22.49{\pm}0.006mm$로 수퇘지가 유의적으로 얇았다. 도축체중의 경우 1999년에 $80.38{\pm}0.033kg$을 가장 가볍게 나타났고, 2005년에 84.26${\pm}0.033kg$으로 가장 무겁게 나타났으며, 연도가 증가함에 따라 도축체중이 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 년도별 도체등급 변화 추세를 보면 A등급 출현율이 2000년부터 2003년까지는 계속 증가하다가 2003년 이후로 점차 감소하는 경향을 나타냈다.

Notes on the biomass expansion factors of Quercus mongolica and Quercus variabilis forests in Korea

  • Biomass expansion factors, which convert timber volume (or dry weight) to biomass, are used for estimating the forest biomass and accounting for the carbon budget at a regional or national scale. We estimated the biomass conversion and expansion factors (BCEF), biomass expansion factors (BEF), root to shoot ratio (R), and ecosystem biomass expansion factor (EBEF) for Quercus mongolica Fisch. and Quercus variabilis Bl. forests based on publications in Korea. The mean BCEF, BEF, and R for Q. mongolica was 1.0383 Mg/$m^3$ (N = 27; standard deviation [SD], 0.5515), 1.3572 (N = 27; SD, 0.1355), and 0.2017 (N = 32; SD, 0.0447), respectively. The mean BCEF, BEF, and R for Q. variabilis was 0.7164 Mg/$m^3$ (N = 17; SD, 0.3232), 1.2464 (N = 17; SD, 0.0823), and 0.1660 (N = 8; SD, 0.0632), respectively. The mean EBEF, as a simple method for estimating the ground vegetation biomass, was 1.0216 (N = 7; SD, 0.0232) for Q. mongolica forest ecosystems, and 1.0496 (N = 8; SD, 0.0725) for Q. variabilis forest ecosystems. The biomass expansion factor values in this study may be better estimates of forest biomass in Q. mongolica or Q. variabilis forests of Korea compared with the default values given by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

표준단면을 이용한 터널 공사비 예측모델 개발 (I) - 공사비 영향요인 분석 - (Tunnel Cost Estimating Model Based on Standard Section and Cost Variance Index (I) - Analysis Of Critical Cost Factors -)

  • 본 연구는 터널공사를 대상으로 사업 초기단계에서 터널공사의 설계 대안에 대한 공사비를 신속히 추정하고, 사업이 진행되면서 상황변화에 따른 사업비 측면에서의 영향을 파악할 수 있도록 함으로써, 적정한 의사결정을 지원하기 위한 개략적 터널공사비 추정모델 제시를 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 터널공사의 수행에 있어 공사비에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석하고, 공사비 영향요인별 공사비 변화의 정도를 분석하였다. 공사비 영향요인은 천공방식, 굴착방법, 기폭장치, 적재장비 용량, 버력의 단위중량 및 토량환산계수, 터널 연장을 포함하는 7개의 요인을 대상으로 하여 각 영향요인의 변화에 따른 공사비 변동 크기를 분석하였다. 분석결과는 기획단계에서 사업의 기본적인 조건을 바탕으로 사업비를 추정하고, 설계 및 시공단계에서 설계 대안에 대한 공사비의 영향을 효율적으로 평가하는데 필요한 공사비 추정모델의 구축을 위한 기초정보를 제공할 것으로 기대된다.

The Factors Affecting Unsafe Behaviors of Iranian Workers: A Qualitative Study Based on Grounded Theory

  • Background: Some researchers state that they are not yet able to provide a deep understanding of the underlying causes of unsafe behaviors (UBs). Therefore, the present study was conducted to investigate the attitudes and experiences of Iranian workers of UBs. Methods: This present study was conducted in 35 industries using a semistructured interview based on grounded theory. Forty participants were interviewed, including 13 industrial safety and health experts and 27 workers and supervisors. The analysis of the present study consisted of a three-step coding process including open, axial, and selective coding. Results: The results showed that the factors affecting UBs could be classified into three categories: organizational, individual, and socioeconomic factors. Organizational factors were divided into 6 parts: procedure and environmental conditions, communications, monitoring, organizational safety culture, resource allocation, and human resources. Socioeconomic factors had three subcategories: community safety culture, type of organizational ownership, and economic problems. Finally, the individual factors were classified into two categories of personality traits and individual competence. Conclusion: The results showed that organizational factors were the most categorized, and it is estimated that this factor has a more important role in the UBs. Of course, to better understand the close relationship between these factors and find the weight and importance of each factor, it needs to measure it with multicriteria decision systems.
