  • 환경 미학은 장대한 자연의 미와 도시경관의미 전체영역을 포함하는 것이라고 한다면 도시경관은 '도시의 보기 좋은 경치' 또는 '미관'이라고 정의되고 있다. 그러므로 우리는 도시경관의 새로운 계획 패러다임으로 미의 문제를 상정하고 이를 해결 할 수 있는 방법을 찾아야 한다. 이러한 환경미학이란 도시경관의 새로운 계획을 모색하는 것으로 도시경관의 미적 가치와 내용을 살피고 도시경관의 미적 경험을 설명하기 위한 것으로 미학적 맥락인 심미성의 평가는 도시시설물인 스트리트퍼니처(street furniture)의 조형미인 디자인요소를 추출하는 것으로 도시환경 디자인에 있어 새로운 의미를 제공할 수 있을 것이다.

Reliability-based condition assessment of a deteriorated concrete bridge

  • In the existing bridge management systems, assessment of the structural behavior is based on the results of visual inspections in which corresponding condition states are assigned to individual elements. In this process, limited attention is given to the correlation between bridge elements from structural perspective. Also, the uncertainty of parameters which affect the structural capacity is ignored. A system reliability-based assessment model is potentially an appropriate replacement for the existing procedures. The aim of this research is to evaluate the system reliability of existing conventional Steel-Reinforced bridge decks over time. The developed method utilizes the reliability theory and evaluates the structural safety for such bridges based on their failure mechanisms. System reliability analysis has been applied to simply-supported concrete bridge superstructures designed according to the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CHBDC-S6) and the deterioration pattern is achieved based on the reliability estimates. Finally, the bridge condition index of an old existing bridge in Montreal has been estimated using the developed deterioration pattern. The results obtained from the developed reliability-based deterioration model and from the evaluation done by bridge engineers have been found to be in accordance.

APPRAISAL OF MAINTENANCE MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES USED IN PUBLIC HOSPITAL BUILDINGS IN LAGOS STATE, NIGERIA

  • The study focused on the evaluation of maintenance management strategies used in public hospital buildings in Lagos state. It also assessed the labour composition for maintenance operations. In achieving these objectives, opinions of maintenance officers of ten (10) different hospitals in different local government areas of the state were sampled through well structured questionnaires. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. From the analysis, the study revealed that majority of those public hospitals do not have specific budget for maintenance programmes, maintenance policies, maintenance log book and maintenance manual to guide the operatives. About 98% of them do not understand the type of maintenance strategy being used for their maintenance operations. 78% of the maintenance work are only executed when there is a breakdown or in response to user's request. For labour composition, the cleaning of interior and exterior of the building, inspection of building elements, repairs and replacements of building elements are mainly carried out by in-house staff, while the repair and replacement of equipment is by outsourcing. The study also revealed that using in- house staff, reduces costs and provides a higher security while outsourcing provides more flexibility in staffing reduces equipment expenditures and provide better access to special skills. The study recommended proactive measures to provide necessary training and support for maintenance staff and users of these facilities and a means of securing sufficient funds for maintenance programmes.

초등학생의 환경 소양도에 따른 환경 Mapping 평가 사례 분석 (A Case Study of Environmental Mapping Evaluation by Environmental Literacy Degree)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate elementary students' environmental mapping following an environmental literacy degree. For this purpose, 34 elementary students of the 5th grade in Daejeon were used as a sample, and their environmental literacy(EL) by 'environmental literacy inventory(ELI)' was assessed. In the end, the correlation between EL and 'Environmental Mapping' was analyzed. The major findings of this study were as follows: 1) 5th grade elementary school students have a high level of conceptual recognition in regard to environmental issues and problems but they have low level of environmental behavioral function; 2) in the correlational analysis of environmental Mapping assessment and EL degree have significant correlation at p<.01 ; 3) environmental issue knowledge and environmental susceptibility have significant correlation in environmental Mapping and p<.01; 4) in the correlation analysis of environmental Mapping assessment and environmental target level, fundamental elements and conceptual recognition have significant correlation at p<.01 and environmental behavior and function on environment have significant correlation at p<.05.

농업농촌의 문화환경적 자원의 중요도 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on Evaluating the Importance about Cultural-environmental resources of Agriculture and Rural Areas)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate priority of cultural-environmental resource using the Analytic Hierarchy Process. Based on survey of expertise, a series of pairwise comparison judgements is performed to evaluate the relative strength or intensity of impact among the elements in the Hierarchy. This Study are applied three kinds of evaluation criteria and 40 kinds of cultural environmental resource. The results of this study are as follows. First, Traditional culture, landscapes, rural community vitality of Agriculture and Rural culture of environmental resources by establishing the concept of a comprehensive classification scheme are defined by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Rural Amenity Resources Multifunctionality in Agriculture. Second, Experts was considered important to "Continuity of history (43%),"> "Global importance (37%)"> "Notable characteristic (20%)" the order of the ratings on the importance of culture with rural agricultural and environmental resources. This is deemed the most important part of Continuity of history Third, The importance of the cultural and environmental resources comprehensive evaluation of the results, a strong tradition of building traditional sense or a landscape resource most highly were evaluated. and Vinyl greenhouse and warehouse such as agriculture, the current facilities required the relatively compared to other resources very low importance were evaluated. Resources, the importance of this study is judged to be able to be utilized as basic data in the selection criteria for the evaluation of the agricultural heritage.

A Study on Establishing an Ecosystem Service Evaluation System in Response to Climate Change Focusing on Garden Value Evaluation Indicators

  • The importance of ecosystem service such as green spaces has risen due to restrictions on outdoor activities amid the climate crisis and COVID-19. While gardens significantly impact economic development, quality of life, and social well-being, comprehensive studies on their multidimensional values are lacking. This research categorizes garden values into social, cultural, environmental, and health dimensions and proposes an integrated assessment framework that introduces detailed elements and evaluation methods. An empirical assessment of carbon storage index in two Korean gardens, Semiwon and Juknokwon, reveals Semiwon's higher carbon storage per unit area. The proposed framework, emphasizing a quantitative approach, enables cross-national and regional comparisons, contributing to a broader understanding and evaluation of garden values beyond specific facilities.

Evaluation of preconsolidation stress by shear wave velocity

  • The behaviors of saturated soils such as compressibility and permeability are distinguished by preconsolidation stress. Preconsolidation stress becomes an important design parameter in geotechnical structures. The goal of this study is to introduce a new method for the evaluation of preconsolidation stress based on the shear wave velocity at small strain, using Busan, Incheon, and Gwangyang clays in Korea. Standard consolidation tests are conducted by using an oedometer cell equipped with bender elements. The preconsolidation stresses estimated by shear wave velocity are compared with those evaluated by the Casagrande, constrained modulus, work, and logarithmic methods. The preconsolidation stresses estimated by the shear wave velocity produce very similar values to those evaluated by the Onitsuka method (one of the logarithmic methods), which yields an almost real preconsolidation stress. This study shows that the shear wave velocity method provides a reliable method for evaluating preconsolidation stress and can be used as a complementary method.

  • 최근 국내외적으로 친환경건설을 위해 환경성 및 경제성을 고려하여 통합평가하는 것은 일반화되어 가고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 VE/LCC와 LCA를 통합분석하기 위한 시스템을 제시하는 것이다. 의사결정자가 환경성 및 경제성을 통합평가하고 이것을 의사결정에 반영하기 위해서는 현실적으로 매우 많은 비용자료, 설계도서 및 문서들을 적절히 관리하고 통합할 수 있어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 정보의 통합수단으로 WBS를 기본으로 한 관리수단을 제시하고, DB와 효율적으로 연계하여 의사결정을 할 수 있도록 하였다. 또한 본 시스템은 VE분석, LCC분석, LCA분석을 위한 모듈을 별개로 제시하여 사용자의 편의성을 좋게 하였다.

A Case Study of Ergonomic Evaluation for the Control Rooms of a Petroleum Complex

  • Objective: Two control rooms of a petroleum complex were ergonomically evaluated for this study using diverse drawings of the rooms. The objective of the study is to show the evaluation process and its results, assessment method and essential elements for drawing-based ergonomic evaluation. Background: Ergonomics can enhance the working environment and safety for a control room when implemented effectively. A control room design was examined by ergonomists based on ergonomic principles and well-practiced standards. This study was conducted because a construction consortium wanted to perform an ergonomic evaluation of the control rooms before the construction. Method: A simple evaluation process, composed with a pre-evaluation, an evaluation and a post-evaluation, was employed to carry out the study. ISO 11064, NUREG-0700, NUREG/CR-6150, and CRIOP were reviewed to evaluate the control rooms. The assessment ranges over the control room layout, workstations, display and control, environmental requirements and safety. Three ergonomists participated in the study and performed the evaluation for two months. Results: An experienced consortium of construction companies designed the petroleum complex and control rooms. No significant ergonomic design problems were detected. Quantitative recommendations were provided for the layout and workstation dimensions. Specific design directions were also proposed for environmental requirements and safety. Conclusion and Application: Design advice and minor potential problems were reported as results of the drawing-based ergonomic evaluation. More practical suggestions could be additionally provided if an on-site assessment was conducted. However, the ergonomic evaluation used in this study could be helpful and applied to designing and evaluating other various control rooms prior to their construction.

건설사업관리자의 안전역량 평가체계 개발에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Development of Evaluation System on the Construction Project Manager's Safety Capability)

  • Among various methods to build the construction safety, the consecutive improvement by the measuring and evaluating safety management capabilities for the construction participants such as an owner, a contractor, and a supervisor (construction project manager) can be the effective one. Thus, an effective evaluation and grading criteria to provide performance index for the implementation of safety management activities should be necessary. In this regards, the purpose of this study is to verify the adequacy by offering a competency evaluation system for the supervisor's safety capability and by applying the system to some construction sites. The proposed evaluation system was developed on the basis of the principles of safety management & accident prevention, basic elements of safety and health management system, and safety evaluation cases at home and abroad. The trial evaluation showed that the safety management of the construction site is mainly carried out by the contractor and the supervisor's awareness for the safety management is low on the whole. Especially, it is urgent to improve the support system from the supervisor headquarter and to place the dedicated safety management person in the field.
