Multifunctionality of agriculture is relation to logic of economics. Mutifunctionality of agriculture was introduced in Korea in 1990s. Owing to different paradigm approach, multifunctionality of agriculture and environmental education have different concept and basis. The purpose of this study is to introduce socio-economical context of multifunctionality of agriculture and enhance mutual understand. More study activities should be encouraged to improve mutual understand and interdisciplinary research.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the middle school and high school student's environmental consciousness and clothing behavior for environmental protection in their home, and to present the basic educational material for the reasonable clothing behavior which could help the environmental problems. This study was done by self-administered questionaires to the 439 middle school and high school students, and done from March to April in 1997. Frequencies, percentages, mean, and standard deviation were calculated. $\chi$$^2$-test, t-test, and F-test were done for group differences, and Duncan's multiple range test was followed. The results of this study were as follows ; 1. Environmental consciousness was higher at the middle school students, at good graded students, and at the good news receivers who watch or listen to the mass media frequently. And also environmental consciousness was higher at the students who separate and dispose waste practically and at those who realize the need of environmental education. 2. Those who purchase clothes reasonably in their home, practising the clothing behavior for environmental protection, were the middle school students, and the students sho watch or listen news frequently through the mass media. And those who manage clothes well in their home were the middle school students, metropolitan area residents, good news receivers, and residents in apartments. Those who separate and dispose waste well, those who have experienced much environmental education, those who know better the environmental protection marks which are attatched to the low pollution products and those who realize the need of environmental education seriously, were almost the same students who buy and manage clothes reasonably in their home, practising the clothing behavior for the environmental protection. And those who feel much more environmental education seriously were those who reuse clothes practically in their home. 3. As the students had the higher environmental consciousness level, the better they practised the clothing behavior for environmental protection in their home. The major sources of the students'knowledge and information about environment were from the mass medea, and then from school teachers.

  • In this study, environmental knowledge and consciousness and eco-friendly behavior related to dietary life of middle school students were examined. Male and female students in Gyeongsan and Daegu Metropolitan City were selected for the study. Total of 490 questionnaires were delivered and collected, and 445 of them were analyzed by using SPSS Win Ver 12.0. Percentages of students who checked' don't know the answer' in 20 environmental knowledge assessment questions were $14.4\~41.8\%$, and those who gave correct answer to these responded to how the answer were $40.1\~93.3\%$. The average score of environmental consciousness was 3.45 and that of eco-friendly dietary behavior was 2.9 out of 5. When dietary behavior was divided by three categories, such as food purchasing, eating. and dish washing, the score of food purchasing behavior was 2.7, those of eating behavior and dish washing behavior were 3.0, 3.1, respectively. In the relationship between environmental knowledge. consciousness. and eco-friendly dietary behavior, there was significant positive correlation between howledge and consciousness, but no significant relation between consciousness and behavior. It showed that environmental knowledge and consciousness didn't always lead to eco-friendly dietary behavior. Therefore, education for practical betlavior must be emphasized even though the knowledge and consciousness education on environment are important.

The educational themes of 'Textile and Cloth', 'Purchase, Usage and Storage of Clothes', 'Laundry of Clothes', Recycling and Disposal of Clothes' were extracted from ten kinds of textbooks. And eight lessons of NIE community activity teaching-learning plan were developed. Ninety-seven students at second grade in 3 classes of the middle school were randomly enrolled in this study. After learning, their environmental recognition and educational interest and attitude on the class of NIE community activity were investigated. The general environmental recognition of most students was improved via NIE community activity, which is emphasizing on the analysis of articles of newspapers, the critical and creative thinking, and the mutual discussion. The environmental recognition related to 'Textile and Cloth', 'Purchase, Usage and Storage of Clothes', 'Laundry of Clothes', Recycling and Disposal of Clothes' was significantly improved. Educational interest and attitude on the class of NIE community activity were also improved of great significance. • This study examines optimal emission taxes and welfares in mixed duopoly markets where public and private firms produce differentiated goods and emit pollutions. Both comparing quantity and price competitions and comparing simultaneous and simultaneous games provides the followings findings: First, irrespective of competition modes between quantity and price competitions or simultaneous and sequential games, the optimal emission tax is always lower than marginal environmental damage. Second, emission tax under private leadership is the highest in quantity competition while that under public leadership is the highest in price competition. Third, environmental damage under Cournot and private leadership is worsened in quantity competition while that under public leadership is worsened in price competition. Finally, welfare under Bertrand and public leadership is improved in price competition while that under private leadership is improved in quantity competition.

  • In this paper, as a determining factor of the Environment Kuznets Curve hypothesis, we analyzed the impact of technological innovation. In this paper, in order to empirically validate the role of technological innovation to an inverted U-shaped Environments Kuznets Curve hypothesis, we utilize the 2SLS considering relationship between R&D and the GDP per capita. Also, using the Panel VAR (Panel Vector Auto Regression) model to analyze with what time lag R&D per capita has impact on the emissions of greenhouse gases per capita. Empirical results show that R&D per capita(proxy of innovation) is a important factor to explain Environmental Kuznets Curve hypothesis, and that the external shock such as R&D per capita reduces greenhouse gas emissions per capita with about 3 time lag.
