  • This paper presents an architecture and control logic of a Flexible Manufacturing Cell (FMC) which is one of the important elements under Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) environment. To implement FMC, it is very important to develop a software which can control and monitor the overall system in an integrated environment. Our primary concern in this research is not to develop individual systems, but to integrate them in the hierarchical control level. Progress on the research of integrating CAD/CAM, Process Planning, Off-line Robot Programming and Simulation module into FMC control system is reported. FMC hardware system used here has an Automated Storage & Retrieval System (AS/RS), a conveyor system, a transfer robot, a CNC milling machine, a bar-code system, and an IBM PC/AT as Cell Control System (CCS). In order to demonstrate the operational result, the name plates, text-carved aluminium plates, are manufactured by this system.

  • In this paper, the analysis and design of a motion simulator (based on the approach taken by interactive virtual reality (VR) entertainment systems) is conducted. The main components of the system include a bilateral control interface, simulation and a motion simulator control scheme. The space entertainment system uses a virtual environment that enables operators to feel the actual feedback sensing and distorted motion from the virtual environment, just as they would in the real environment. The space entertainment system integrates the dynamics of the motion simulator and the virtual environment and the operator maneuvers a steering wheel to interact with the system. The multiple bilateral control schemes employ a dynamical controller, which is designed by considering the velocity and acceleration that the operator imposes on the joystick, the environmental changes imposed on the motion simulator. In addition, we develop a calculated method to evaluate the Ratio of the simulation results. It is shown that the proposed control scheme can improve the performance of the visual entertainment system. Experiments are conducted on the virtual reality entertainment system to validate the theoretical developments.

  • In this paper force feedback control system is investigated for improving the quality of the haptic feedback in virtual reality applications. We suggested the method of controlling the haptic device and modelling the virtual environment. Haptic device is composed of five bar link structure, voice coil motor, control board, and virtual environment modeling program. We applied voice coil motor in the actuating system for simple structure and easy control. Virtual environment modelling is constructed in PC, and the control signals of the actuators and the encoder data are transferred to the control system through USB. Experiment is performed to evaluate the characteristics of the haptic device.

PLC와 컴퓨터를 이용한 식물생산공장의 환경제어 (Environmental Control of Plant Production Factory Using Programmable Logic Controller and Computer)

  • This study was conducted to develop a system and an control algorithm for control the environment of a plant factory. The greenhouse control system for environmental control was largely composed of a computer and a PLC. The screen of control program was composed of a greenhouse figure which was included machinery and equipments for greenhouse, the graph of environmental factors of inside greenhouse and the image of greenhouse. In order to reduce temperature change, the operation time of ventilation window was changed by 3 stage according to difference between a target and present temperature. When is heating, a temperature variation was shown to be $16.7{\pm}0.8^{\circ}C$. When is cooling, a temperature variation was shown to be $23.1{\pm}0.6^{\circ}C$. When is humidifing, a humidity variation was shown to be $39.3{\pm}1.6^{\circ}C$ %RH. An environmental control system and a control algorithm were proved that it was shown a good performance in a control accuracy. So a computer control system should be adapted to a control system of a greenhouse and a plant factory.

주광을 활용한 LED조명시스템의 컨트롤에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Control Strategy of LED System Using Daylight)

  • Visual Environment and productivity are correlated. So we need to create a comfortable visual environment and maintain proper workplane illumination level. We can obtain lighting energy savings and comfortable visual environment using daylight and LED lights. In this study, we characterized the indoor illuminance level according to the sky condition and proposed dimming control strategy of LED lights. Energy savings in On/Off control mode are 40% at clear sky and 28% at intermediate sky. In dimming control mode, energy savings are 77.2% at clear sky and 64.1% at intermediate sky. Then we obtain the appropriate dimming control strategy of LED lights based on data. Dimming rates are 0-14.2-80(min-avg-max, %) for LED 1, 0-19.9-60% for LED 2 and 30-61.4-90% for LED 3. Lighting energy savings are 68.2% for LED dimming system applied this control method.

  • Unity programs are largely recognized as game development tools. However, it has many functions built in, so it can be applied to various fields as well as game development. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a smart farm environmental control program using Unity and Photon. The proposed program has vast compatibility that is not limited to specific devices, and it is very easy to build network systems for remote control. In addition, the proposed programs were installed on various devices such as pc and smartphones, making it easy to control the smart farm environment system. Through experiments, it was confirmed that data transmission and reception between Windows and Android, other operating system environments, and that smart farm systems were operating normally.

  • The low nutrient environment in drinking water treatment plants and distribution systems cannot to be a good environment for bacterial growth. However, biofilms can be frequently found submerged surface in treatment plants and distribution system. Biofilms in distribution system are harmful, in that they can release organisms, and may cause problems in taste and odor of water. Control of these Biofilms is difficult, and disinfection alone is usually ineffective. Biofilms will not be eliminated from distribution systems by any contemporary technology available now or in the future. Therefore reduction of organic matter, improved disinfection, or a combination of these methods can be useful in controlling distribution system biofilms.

  • The advance of computer, network, and Internet technology enables the control systems to process the massive data in the distributed computing environments. To implement and maintain the software in distributed environment, the component-based methodology is widely used. This paper proposes the middleware architecture for the distributed computer control system. With the proposed middleware services, it is relatively easy to maintain compatibility between products and to implement a portable control application. To achieve the compatibility between heterogeneous systems, the proposed architecture provides the communication protocols based on the XML with lightweight event-based service.

  • In spreading an internet service and developing a network technology, The interest of study about the remote control system using web environment increased. In treatise, We describe a design and an implementation of the gateway system that is based 3-tier model using corba in middleware. This system is applicatble various system environment because of using middleware and overcome a time limit and range limit because of using web browser interface.

  • In this study, in order to control real system under the environment of graphic user interface, study on the technique which can control real system without additional hardware drivers using virtual machine driver operated on the windows operating system. Consider the problem which is the error and the delay of a sampling time on the multi task processing through the load test of the experiment using graphic user interface.
