  • Many countries over the world have taken many discussions and endeavors on environmental improvements of energy savings and greenhouse gas emission reductions for solving global climate change problems. In Korea, pre-considerations of environment-conscious factors in buildings have been taken to be critical with new constructions and renovation markets. In this situation, the Korean Green Building Certification(KGBC) system to induce the diffusion of sustainable buildings was introduced in 2002 and developed as an improved version of the G-SEED(Green Standard for Energy and Environmental Design) system in 2013 after major revisions. This research examines the importance of assessment criteria on apartment buildings to certify green buildings using the AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) method and suggests a new direction on certification assessment standards from the AHP result. In order to apply the AHP method, the survey via e-mail was conducted to design staffs in domestic architectural firms. As a result, assessment criteria such as ecological environment, indoor environment, and energy & environment pollution among 7 main ones proved to be important on assessing the G-SEED system for apartment buildings, while criteria such as land use & transportation, material & resource, water circulation management, maintenance management did relatively unimportant.

  • Due to change in management environment and paradigms, companies need to the open management system that provides information for real-time costing, customer satisfaction, decision making support, responsibility management etc. We are not ready to implement this system yet. But we must introduce a new management system, i.e., ABMS(Activity- Based Management System) on the basis of the ARC(Activity-Based Costing) by development of production/information technique. This paper realizes foundational concepts of Activity and ABC, reestablishes the concept of ABC correctly and expands ABC for ABMS. Thus this paper is useful for ABMS modeling, leading competitors, total productivity improvement and strategic management for the best quality and service.

  • Solid waste management is currently a topic of concern, particularly in the protection of humans and the environment from toxic pollutants and hazardous materials. The importance of solid waste management is recognized at international, national, and community levels. Different agendas have been prioritized and assigned to improve quality of life, productivity, and health, and reduce the burden of pollution. Suitable management of solid waste requires appropriate technology that is affordable, socially accepted, and environmentally friendly. The use of a smart management system involving system dynamics can save energy, money, and labor. System dynamics is a computer-based approach that aids in predicting the behavioral patterns of variables, and correlating dependent and independent variables. The inclusion of system dynamics-based models in solid waste management has recently become more common. In this review, we used system dynamics to determine methods to disentangle solid waste management systems and analyzed different studies on solid waste management using system dynamics in different countries in detail. We also discussed the various software packages that are available for system dynamics and their usefulness for waste management. This review may help in understanding current solid waste management practices using system dynamics.

  • This study aimed to quantitatively analyze the risk using data from 329 safety accidents that occurred in aquaculture fisheries management vessels over the recent five years (2018-2022). For quantitative risk analysis, the Bayesian network proposed by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) was used to analyze the risk level according to the fishing process and cause of safety accidents. Among the work processes, the fishing process was analyzed to have the highest risk, being 12.5 times that of the navigation, 2.7 times that of the maintenance, and 8.8 times that of the loading and unloading. Among the causes of accidents, the hull and working environment showed the highest risk, being 1.7 times that of fishing gear and equipment, 4.7 times that of machinery and equipment, and 9.4 times that of external environment. By quantitatively analyzing the safety accident risks for 64 combinations of these four work processes and four accident causes, this study provided fundamental data to reduce safety accidents occurring in aquaculture fisheries management vessels.

  • An effective tool management system is one of the keys to maximizing the benefits of a computer integrated manufacturing (CIM). Tool management systems, however, are often tailored to the requirement of a highly automated system. Therefore, a different approach is needed for small and medium sized mold shops. This work deals with the implementation of tool management system for milling operations in small and medium sized CIM environment of injection mold production. In this paper, a distributed management approach is proposed for efficient tool management in relatively small machining shops in mold industry. And the design and the functions of the developed system are described.

  • The amount of information increases rapidly when working in a distributed environment where multiple collaborative partners work together on a complex product. Today's PDM (product data management) systems provide good capabilities regarding the management of product data within a single company. However, taking into account the variety of systems used at partner sites in an engineering environment one can easily imagine problems regarding the interoperability and the data consistency. This paper presents a concept to improve the workflow management using the parameters network. It shows a parameter driven engineering workflow that is able to manage engineering task across company boarders. We introduce a mechanism of workflow management based on the engineering parameters and an architecture of the distributed workspace to apply it within a PDM system. For a parameter mapping between CAD and PDM system we developed an XML-based CATIA data interface module using CAA.
