The ability of a robot system to comply to an environment via the control of tool-environment interaction force is of vital for the successful task accomplishment in many robot application. This paper presents the implementation of external force control for two dimensional contour following task using a commercial robot system. Force accommodation is used since a constraint imposed in our work is not to modify the commercial robot system. A linear, decoupled model of two dimensional contour following system in the discrete time domain is derived first. Then the experimental verification of linear control is obtained using a PUMA 560 manipulator with standard Unimation controller, Astek FS6-120A six axis wrist force sensor attached externally to the arm and LSI-11173 microcomputer. Experimentally obtained data shows that the RMS contact force error is 0.8246 N when following the straight edge and 2.3768 N when following 40 mm radius curved contour.
This paper presents a network-based traction control system(TCS), where several electric control units(ECUs) are connected by a controller area network(CAN) communication system. The control system consists of four ECUs: the electric throttle controller, the transmission controller, the engine controller and the traction controller. In order to validate the traction control algorithm of the network-based TCS and evaluate its performance, a Hardware-In-the-Loop Simulation(HILS) environment was developed. Herein we propose a new concept of the HILS environment called the network-based HILS(Net-HILS) for the development and validation of network-based control systems which include smart sensors or actuators. In this study, we report that we have designed a network-based TCS, validated its algorithm and evaluated its performance using Net-HILS.
In greenhouse vegetable, the automatic control in cultivating environment has been projected as a national business ; especially a countermeasure against the settlement of UR negotiation. Because it makes possible to manage a large greenhouse with family-hands and to expect the betterment of quality and the increasement of harvest in crops. In the course of carrying the workout, however, there are many problems with the overall control system with computers as well as the individual systems for environment control because of hardware and software problems : especially the shortage of data for development of the system is most serious. Among the many problems for development of the automatic control system, the automations of irrigation, liquefied fertilizer and chemical solution, mixing and ventilation, etc and the development of the general automatic controller system for environment control in greenhouse are studied, which requires a lot of tabors. The results are summarized as follows ; 1. In moisture control by the soil moisture meter, the error was shown 10 % in the beginning irrigation point and 19 % in the stop irrigation point. 2. The supply of liquefied fertilizers with the irrigation system was excellent by setting the operating time and the mixing ratio. 3. The developed chemical spraying system was operated well, but not perfect in nozzle positions. 4. The cucumber was cultivated properly with the trickle irrigation system. 5. The developed controller for the automatic control system in greenhouse was remarkable in the part of hardware, but more researches are needed in the part of software.

The present research paper is devoted to solving an urgent problem, i.e., the energy saving and energy efficiency of buildings. A rapid settlement method and experimental control of the energy conservation based on the specific characteristics of the thermal energy consumption for the heating and ventilation of the buildings, and as well as the rapid development of wireless sensor networks, can be used in a variety of monitoring parameters in our daily lives. Today's world has become quite advanced with smart appliances and devices such as laptops, tablets, TVs, and smartphones with various functions, and their use has increased significantly in our day-to-day lives. In this case, the most important role is played by a wireless sensor network with its development and use in heterogeneous areas and in several different contexts. The fields of home automation, process management, and health management systems make extensive use of wireless sensor networks. In this paper, we explore the main factors of the microclimate in an indoor environment. We control the temperature humidity, and other factors remotely using sensors and Internet-of-Things technologies.
This paper is intended to propose what manufacturing configuration (manufacturing planning and shop floor control) is suitable for the tire industry. Basically tire-manufacturing process is mixed-products, parallel-disconnected-flow-shop. Both throughput time and cycle tine are very short, the variety of tires is very high, the setup time is long, shop floor data reporting requirements is high, and there are many equipments and people working. And with no exception, tire industry also now confronts increasing requirements of delivery conformance with the above peculiar characteristics of tire manufacturing and changing market environments, this paper suggests, weekly master scheduling with no MRP is desirable and traditional kanban is right selection for shop floor control/scheduling. This paper describes why this configuration should be, using the manufacturing engineering principles and some new insights like four primitives of parallel flow shop. Generally known that shop with high parallel-product-mix and long setup time isn't good candidate for kanban. The four primitives of parallel flow shop explain why kanban is also useful scheduling technique in that environment.
The existing SCADA(Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system software is usually developed to suitable for the specific hardware platforms. However, as per rapid improvement of computer performance and development of network technology, it is required to support scalability and inter-operability in existing different SCADA systems. In order to meet such requirements, in this paper, we propose a new type of SCADA testbed using Java for electric distribution applications. The system consists of three modules; development support tools, client and server modules. The basic architecture of the proposed SCADA system is similar to existing one, however, we improve the function of MTU and MMI interface to facilitate LAN and WAN environment. Also, the proposed system can deals with alarm and history data by using heterogeneous DBMS. Since the system is built in Java environment, the development cost is cheap and it can support sacalability and portability. Our experience can be utilized to develop next generation of small and medium size of SCADA system.
This research was performed to simulate shellfish production systems and sales in Gamak Bay, South Korea. To study the way the shellfish system generates maxima, a numerical model was developed to simulate the model under a control and a number of different scenarios. The program calculates the EMERGY flows by multiplying the flows of energy and materials by the appropriate solar transformity. In this study, an energy systems model was built to simulate the variation of sustainability for oyster aquaculture. The results of the simulation based on 2005 data that as oyster production yield slightly increases, money and assets increase to a steady state. When the program is run control simulation, the system reaches carrying capacity after 8 years. The simulation of models with price of purchased inputs increased with 3.5% inflation rate per year showed maximum benefit of shellfish production occurs after 6 years but amounts are less than control simulation, and then decreases slightly in money and yield results. The results with 3.5% inflation and increase of oyster price annually showed steady and slightly increase of money and yield.
The temperature control system which is using liquid and gaseous nitrogen has been known as the most economical system to simulate space temperature condition due to relatively not expansive price of the liquid nitrogen (less than 0.2 USD per liter). And, among these systems, the closed loop system which circulates compressed nitrogen gas come from sprayed liquid nitrogen by blower and makes a target temperature with heat from an electrical heater and flow rate of liquid nitrogen is prevail all over the world. But, this complete closed loop system requires expansive equipments such as blower, heater, and liquid nitrogen injector, and special maintenance on the system. Therefore, KARI is developing efficient and simple open loop system which utilizes liquid and gaseous nitrogen with eliminating a special blower and other expansive units. In this study, this open loop system with more efficiency and flexibility will be designed and introduced.
A recently proposed method for stabilizing haptic interfaces and teleoperation systems was tested with a 'PHANToM' commercial haptic device. The 'Passivity Observer' (PO) and 'Passivity Control1er' (PC) stabilization method was applied to stabilize the system but also excited a high frequency mode in the device. To solve this problem, we propose a method to use a timevarying desired energy threshold instead of fixed zero energy threshold for the PO, and make the actual energy input follow the timevarying energy threshold. With the time-varying energy threshold, we make the PC control action smooth without sudden impulsive behavior by distributing the dissipation. The proposed new PO/PC approach is applied to PHANToM with high stiffness (K = 5000N/m), and stable and smooth contact is guaranteed. Resetting and active environment display problems also can be solved with the reference energy following idea.
In this paper, a dynamic backoff adjustment method of IEEE 802.15.4 is proposed for time-critical sporadic data in a noisy factory environment. For this, a superframe of IEEE 802.15.4 is applied to a real-time mixed data (periodic data, sporadic data, and non real-time message) transmission in factory communication systems. To guarantee a channel access of real-time sporadic(non-periodic) data, a transmission method using the dynamic backoff is applied to wireless control networks. For the real-time property, different initial BE, CW parameters are used for the dynamic backoff adjustment method. The simulat-ion results show an enhancement of the real-time performance of sporadic emergency data. The proposed method provides the channel access of real-time sporadic data efficiently, and guarantee real-time transmission simultaneously within a limite-d timeframe.
