  • Kwangyang harbour has been developed very rapidly and has 20 berths including 2 for 250,000DWT bulk carriers at the terminal of Kwangyang Steel Company only. In addition to this, the port is developing a container terminal with 10 berths for 50,000GRT container ships, the construction of which is scheduled to be finished in the year 2000. Because of these development, it has been pointed out that the existing waterways are not wide and safe enough for the new large ships to be catered for. This work, therefore, aimed to examine the naviga-tional safety of the waterways of Kwangyang Harbour, and to suggest how to improve the existing water-ways for the large ships to be introduced in the near future. In examining the safety of the existing and newly suggested waterways, waterway design simulation methodology has been applied. From this study, it has been suggested that the No.4 navigational channel has to be dredged to the depth of 22.5 meters and used as an entrance channel only, while the No.3 channel is used as an exit channel. Additionally, a new waterway has been recommended to be established over the Myodo Island for the container ships which will use the new terminal, the width of which has been recommended to be 400 meters with 440 meters from the bend area.

Surveying visits were made to 30 model houses for which individual apartments of 8 million Won or more per pyeong (about 3.30 square meters) were on sale from December 1999 through November 2000 in Seoul and suburb area, pundang. The major finding were summarized as follows; (1) The characteristics of the planes indicated that the living-room separation type accounted for the majority, which was not generally different from common apartments. The master zone divided several room. The main room which conventionally played the roles of the family gathering space and the second room shared by family members, was designed exclusively for husband and wife. Distinctively separated from the other spaces, it was to be used for personalized space, together with bathroom for the couple, dressing room, or study. Attempts were made for the high-class apartments to get away from the common uniformed apartments, such as the yard-type balcony or the second entrance in consideration of the moving path. (2) The characteristics of the interior designs showed that the detailed attention was paid to every composing element for the emphasis of the high quality image. The factors determining the quality were finishing materials, kitchen furniture, hygienic ceramics, electrical appliances water supply equipment, or functional storage closet.

  • The purpose of this study was to provide basic data for better design of Pharmacy after introducing the new system of separation of dispensing from prescribing medicine. To analyze characteristics of interior design in pharmacy and to measure worker satisfaction, a survey was conducted with 255 workers who serve at any Pharmacies located in Busan, Korea. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, t-test, One-way ANOV A were performed with the SPSS Win program(Ver. 10.0). The major findings were as follows: 1) As a result of analyzing the role and functions of the pharmacist is to be classified into many items such as entrance, a waiting room, a dispensary, a medication & consultation area, a drug storage and a worker's room. 2) Natural substances should be used more widely instead of using chemical substances for the pharmacy interior design as finishing materials 3) Pharmacy worker's satisfaction with dispensary is specially low among the total satisfaction which is :slightly higher than the average. 4) The degree of satisfaction between pharmacy workers from different groups varied depending on work hours, and especially long time(over 10hrs) workers showed dissatisfaction. Pharmacy managers need to consider the option of expanding convenience facilities. 5) According to the satisfaction analysis for each pharmacy conditions, the group who worked in 30-pyeong spaces were most satisfied. Since the 30-pyeong space is most standardized space research should be conducted.

  • In this paper, we analyzed the freshmen's achievements on general mathematics their GPA based on 'basic mathematics diagonal test score'. Also, we studied the achievements of students who were not passed the 'Basic Mathematics Diagonal Test (BMDT)' and had to take supplementary lessons to improve their mathematics abilities four times a week during the first semester of academic year 2008 in Mokpo National University. Before taking college entrance exam, high school students had to choose two types of scholastic area. One is on 'Ga' or 'Na' in mathematics and the other is on Natural Science or Social Science. According to the types, we classified the freshman-Ga or Na and NS or SS. We found some facts. First, a few of Ga and NS freshmen had low score on the BMDT. Second, Na and NS freshman got higher score than Na and SS freshmen on the BMDT. Third, Ga and NS freshmen who passed the BMDT got higher score on the general mathematics than those who failed the BMDT. Finally, there are correlations between achievements of general mathematics and a curriculum of freshmen who were passed test after taking supplementary lessons.

  • This study attempts to explore the organization of domestic space in Belgium and then to compare them with those found in Korea. Data were collected by questionnaires mailed to 110 staff members, both academic an dadministrative, working at Vrije Universiteit Brussel in Belgium. The major findings of the study can be summarized as fllows: First, the most common pattern of Belgian LDK(living-room dining-room and kichen) layout is the LD type, which separates K from L and D by wall or door while linking L and D to each other. On the other hand, a large portions of Korean LDK layout is the DK type , which seperates L from D and H, but D and K are interconnected. As expected, the bigger the size of floor space, the more likely L-D-K type is to be, which places L, D, and f, separate each other. And the smaller the sire the more probable the DK type and/or the one room type would be, where L, D and K are merged into one room. Second, the enterance of domestic space in Belgium is normally found adjacent to public space. The Belgian entrance often forms a space independent from other parts of the house, or a space that leads directly to garage. These two patterns are rarely found in Korea. Third, Belgians tend to locate Kichen in the front of the house when they design apartment units, Whereas it is not the case in Korea where it is located in the rear.

  • This study aims to examine and classify plane types of Hanok at Haengbok village, analyze changes, area distribution and space structures of space components and sort plane types and their characteristics. Plane types were divided into four; living room, kitchen, dining room, etc. These plane types were labelled as LK type, L+K type, L+DK type and LDK type. LK type and L+K type were mainly found at single-wing house and made of living room and kitchen centered space structure, but substantially they were designed to ensure guest room, room and living room. Therefore, hanok built at Haengbok village were designed to combine the functions of residential function and lodging. Plane type was preferred to be used for double functions of residence and lodging. On the other side, L+DK type and LDK type were mainly found in house with several wings and they were designed centering around living room for family space. In addition entrance was placed to simplify entry from the outside and each room and guest room were arranged to be accessed from living room. It means that the functions of house focused on residence rather than lodging and all rooms had the structure to be used as residential space in case of emergency.

  • Gamcheon harbor was developed as a multipurpose port to mix processing functions of exclusive piers for bulk cargo such as marine products, domestic cargoes. Since the container terminal was opened in 1997, maximum $40,000\sim50,000$ DWT containership have been incoming and outgoing. However, bemuse the breakwater entrance in Gamcheon harbor is narrow and the crossed vessels are ever-present at breakwater front, marine accident danger is high that grasping traffic characteristics is required in reply. Therefore marine traffic characteristics were analyzed for Gamcheon harbor and Gamcheon approaching waters, included the track and traffic volumes of peak hours period in inbound/outbound and front sea area of the harbor in present.

  • The microporous carbon derived from PVDC-resin by a simple heat-treatment under an inert atmosphere exhibits a reasonable specific capacitance for a supercapacitor's electrode. However, the capacitance was rapidly decreased at high charge/discharge rate. The micropores present in an electrode surface hinder the entrance of an electrolyte ion onto the entire surface. To induce the meso-sized pores during the carbonization of PVDC-resin, Mg(OH)2 was utilized as a hard template. The porous carbon made from the mixture of PVD-Cresin and Mg(OH)2 include mesopores as well as micropores. The induced mesopores does not homogeneously distributed on the entire surface of the synthesized carbon. The PVDC-resin and Mg(OH)2 are dissolved in the dimethylformamide for the hard template to evolve the pores on the synthesized carbon uniformly. The carbon made from PVDC-resin with solvent and a hard template contains mostly mesopores resulting in the high power performance. The reduced amount of solvent in the precursor derives the carbon with high specific surface area and high power density.
