Recent ransomware attacks employ various techniques and pathways, posing significant challenges in early detection and defense. Consequently, the scale of damage is continually growing. This paper introduces a machine learning-based approach for effective ransomware detection by focusing on file encryption and encryption patterns, which are pivotal functionalities utilized by ransomware. Ransomware is identified by analyzing password behavior and encryption patterns, making it possible to detect specific ransomware variants and new types of ransomware, thereby mitigating ransomware attacks effectively. The proposed machine learning-based encryption behavior detection technique extracts encryption and encryption pattern characteristics and trains them using a machine learning classifier. The final outcome is an ensemble of results from two classifiers. The classifier plays a key role in determining the presence or absence of ransomware, leading to enhanced accuracy. The proposed technique is implemented using the numpy, pandas, and Python's Scikit-Learn library. Evaluation indicators reveal an average accuracy of 94%, precision of 95%, recall rate of 93%, and an F1 score of 95%. These performance results validate the feasibility of ransomware detection through encryption behavior analysis, and further research is encouraged to enhance the technique for proactive ransomware detection.
The goal of this paper is to compare classification performances and to find a better classifier based on the characteristics of data. The compared methods are CART with two ensemble algorithms, bagging or boosting and SVM. In the empirical study of twenty-eight data sets, we found that SVM has smaller error rate than the other methods in most of data sets. When comparing bagging, boosting and SVM based on the characteristics of data, SVM algorithm is suitable to the data with small numbers of observation and no missing values. On the other hand, boosting algorithm is suitable to the data with number of observation and bagging algorithm is suitable to the data with missing values.
With the rapid growth of the Internet, millions of indiscriminate advertising SMS are sent every day because of the convenience of sending and receiving data. Although we still use methods to block spam words manually, we have been actively researching how to filter spam in a various ways as machine learning emerged. However, spam words and patterns are constantly changing to avoid being filtered, so existing machine learning mechanisms cannot detect or adapt to new words and patterns. Recently, the concept of Lifelong Learning emerged to overcome these limitations, using existing knowledge to keep learning new knowledge continuously. In this paper, we propose a method of spam filtering system using ensemble techniques of naive bayesian which is most commonly used in document classification and LLML(Lifelong Machine Learning). We validate the performance of lifelong learning by applying the model ELLA and the Naive Bayes most commonly used in existing spam filters.

Automobiles have long been an essential part of daily life, but the social costs of car traffic accidents exceed 9% of the national budget of Korea. Hence, it is necessary to establish prevention and response system for car traffic accidents. In order to present a model that can classify and predict the degree of injury in car traffic accidents, we used big data analysis techniques of K-nearest neighbor, logistic regression analysis, naive bayes classifier, decision tree, and ensemble algorithm. The performances of the models were analyzed by using the data on the nationwide traffic accidents over the past three years. In particular, considering the difference in the number of data among the respective injury severity levels, we used down-sampling methods for the group with a large number of samples to enhance the accuracy of the classification of the models and then verified the statistical significance of the models using ANOVA.
A speech-act is a behavior intended by users in an utterance. Speech-act classification is important in a dialogue system. The machine learning and rule-based methods have mainly been used for speech-act classification. In this paper, we propose a speech-act classification method based on the combination of support vector machine (SVM) and transformation-based learning (TBL). The user's utterance is first classified by SVM that is preferentially applied to categories with a low utterance rate in training data. Next, when an utterance has negative scores throughout the whole of the categories, the utterance is applied to the correction phase by rules. The results from our method were higher performance over the baseline system long with error-reduction.

Indian herbal plants are used in agriculture and in the food, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical industries. Laboratory-based tests are routinely used to identify and classify similar herb species by analyzing their internal cell structures. In this paper, we have applied computer vision techniques to do the same. The original leaf image was preprocessed using the Chan-Vese active contour segmentation algorithm to efface the background from the image by setting the contraction bias as (v) -1 and smoothing factor (µ) as 0.5, and bringing the initial contour close to the image boundary. Thereafter the segmented grayscale image was fed to a leaky capacitance fired neuron model (LCFN), which differentiates between similar herbs by combining different groups of pixels in the leaf image. The LFCN's decay constant (f), decay constant (g) and threshold (h) parameters were empirically assigned as 0.7, 0.6 and h=18 to generate the 1D feature vector. The LCFN time sequence identified the internal leaf structure at different iterations. Our proposed framework was tested against newly collected herbal species of natural images, geometrically variant images in terms of size, orientation and position. The 1D sequence and shape features of aloe, betel, Indian borage, bittergourd, grape, insulin herb, guava, mango, nilavembu, nithiyakalyani, sweet basil and pomegranate were fed into the 5-fold Bayesian regularization neural network (BRNN), K-nearest neighbors (KNN), support vector machine (SVM), and ensemble classifier to obtain the highest classification accuracy of 91.19%.
It is reported that genome-wide RNA-seq profiles has potential as biomarkers of aging. A number of researches achieved promising prediction performance based on gene expression profiles. We develop an age prediction method based on the transcriptome of human dermal fibroblasts by selecting a proper age interval. The proposed method executes multiple rules in a sequential manner and a rule utilizes a classifier and a regression model to determine whether a given test sample belongs to the target age interval of the rule. If a given test sample satisfies the selection condition of a rule, age is predicted from the associated target age interval. Our method predicts age to a mean absolute error of 5.7 years. Our method outperforms prior best performance of mean absolute error of 7.7 years achieved by an ensemble based prediction method. We observe that it is possible to predict age based on genome-wide RNA-seq profiles but prediction performance is not stable but varying with age.

An effective educational program warrants the inclusion of an innovative construction which enhances the higher education efficacy in such a way that accelerates the achievement of desired results and reduces the risk of failures. Educational Decision Support System (EDSS) has currently been a hot topic in educational systems, facilitating the pupil result monitoring and evaluation to be performed during their development. Insufficient information systems encounter trouble and hurdles in making the sufficient advantage from EDSS owing to the deficit of accuracy, incorrect analysis study of the characteristic, and inadequate database. DMTs (Data Mining Techniques) provide helpful tools in finding the models or forms of data and are extremely useful in the decision-making process. Several researchers have participated in the research involving distributed data mining with multi-agent technology. The rapid growth of network technology and IT use has led to the widespread use of distributed databases. This article explains the available data mining technology and the distributed data mining system framework. Distributed Data Mining approach is utilized for this work so that a classifier capable of predicting the success of students in the economic domain can be constructed. This research also discusses the Intelligent Knowledge Base Distributed Data Mining framework to assess the performance of the students through a mid-term exam and final-term exam employing Multi-agent system-based educational mining techniques. Using single and ensemble-based classifiers, this study intends to investigate the factors that influence student performance in higher education and construct a classification model that can predict academic achievement. We also discussed the importance of multi-agent systems and comparative machine learning approaches in EDSS development.

Early prediction of chronic diseases such as diabetes is an important issue, and improving the accuracy of diabetes prediction is especially important. Various machine learning and deep learning-based methodologies are being introduced for diabetes prediction, but these technologies require large amounts of data for better performance than other methodologies, and the learning cost is high due to complex data models. In this study, we aim to verify the claim that DNN using the pima dataset and k-fold cross-validation reduces the efficiency of diabetes diagnosis models. Machine learning classification methods such as decision trees, SVM, random forests, logistic regression, KNN, and various ensemble techniques were used to determine which algorithm produces the best prediction results. After training and testing all classification models, the proposed system provided the best results on XGBoost classifier with ADASYN method, with accuracy of 81%, F1 coefficient of 0.81, and AUC of 0.84. Additionally, a domain adaptation method was implemented to demonstrate the versatility of the proposed system. An explainable AI approach using the LIME and SHAP frameworks was implemented to understand how the model predicts the final outcome.

Crop estimation is essential for the multinational meal and powerful demand due to its numerous aspects like soil, rain, climate, atmosphere, and their relations. The consequence of climate shift impacts the farming yield products. We operate the dataset with temperature, rainfall, humidity, etc. The current research focuses on feature selection with multifarious classifiers to assist farmers and agriculturalists. The crop yield estimation utilizing the feature selection approach is 96% accuracy. Feature selection affects a machine learning model's performance. Additionally, the performance of the current graph classifier accepts 81.5%. Eventually, the random forest regressor without feature selections owns 78% accuracy and the decision tree regressor without feature selections retains 67% accuracy. Our research merit is to reveal the experimental results of with and without feature selection significance for the proposed ten algorithms. These findings support learners and students in choosing the appropriate models for crop classification studies.
