We fabricate fine (<$20{\mu}m$) powders of $Bi_{0.5}Sb_{1.5}Te_3$ alloys using a large-scale production method and subsequently consolidate them at temperatures of 573, 623, and 673 K using a spark plasma sintering process. The microstructure, mechanical properties, and thermoelectric properties are investigated for each sintering temperature. The microstructural features of both the powders and bulks are characterized by scanning electron microscopy, and the crystal structures are analyzed by X-ray diffraction analysis. The grain size increases with increasing sintering temperature from 573 to 673 K. In addition, the mechanical properties increase significantly with decreasing sintering temperature owing to an increase in grain boundaries. The results indicate that the electrical conductivity and Seebeck coefficient ($217{\mu}V/K$) of the sample sintered at 673 K increase simultaneously owing to decreased carrier concentration and increased mobility. As a result, a high ZT value of 0.92 at 300 K is achieved. According to the results, a sintering temperature of 673 K is preferable for consolidation of fine (<$20{\mu}m$) powders.
The humidification is essential for performance enhancement of the electrolysis of PEMFC because proton conductivity depends on hydration of the proton exchange membrane. In this study, the humidification experiment did about On/Off control the humidification and dew condensation for PEMFC by using of the membrane humidifiers. As the results, it was possible to approximation control of the humidity by using of the solenoid valve On/Off control on the membrane humidifier. Also the problem on the dew condensation was resolved by approximation humidity control through solenoid valve On/Off control and the removal of the dew condensation in the flow channel was verified through visualization experiment.

Zinc oxide (ZnO) has drawn much interest as a potential transparent conducting oxide (TCO) for applying to solar cell and front electrode of electro-luminescent devices. For the enhancement of electrical property of TCOs, dopant introduction and hybridization with conductive nanoparticles have been investigated. In this work, ZnO films were formed on glass substrate by using photochemical solution deposition of Ag nanoparticles dispersed or various metal (Ag, Cd, In, or Sn) contained photosensitive ZnO solutions. The usage of photosensitive solution permits us to obtain a micron-sized direct patterning of ZnO film without using conventional dry etching procedure. The structural, optical, and electrical characteristics of ZnO films with the introduction of metal dopants with/without Ag nanoparticles have been investigated to check whether there is a combined effect between metal dopants and Ag nanoparticles on the characteristics of ZnO film. The phase formation and crystallinity of ZnO film were monitored with X-ray diffractometer. The optical transmittance measurement was carried out using UV-VIS-NIR spectrometer and the electrical properties such as sheet resistance and conductivity were observed by using four-point probe.
Using first-principles calculations, we successfully investigate the electrochemical performance of the monoclinic $NaMnO_2$ for the sodium ion batteries. $NaMnO_2$ possesses a voltage window of 3.54-2.52 V and theoretical reversible capacity of $136mAh\;g^{-1}$. Besides, we find that the metallicity of the monoclinic $NaMnO_2$ gradually increases during Na extraction. Moreover, the computational Na migration energy barrier in the monoclinic $NaMnO_2$ is 0.18 eV, ensuring ideal conductivity and reversible capacity. Although the Jahn-Teller distortion effects limit the enhancement of the reversible capacity of the monoclinic $NaMnO_2$, it is still a right cathode material for the sodium ion batteries. The computational results are well in consistent with the experimental investigations.
This paper reports solution-processed, high-efficiency organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) fabricated by a knife coating method under ambient air conditions. In addition, indium tin oxide (ITO), traditionally used as the anode, was substituted by optimizing the conductivity enhancement treatment of poly(3,4-ethylene dioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) films on a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrate. The transmittance and sheet resistance of the optimized PEDOT:PSS anode were 83.4% and $27.8{\Omega}/sq$., respectively. The root mean square surface roughness of the PEDOT:PSS anode, measured by atomic force microscopy, was only 2.95 nm. The optimized OLED device showed a maximum current efficiency and maximum luminous density of 5.44 cd/A and $8,356cd/m^2$, respectively. As a result, the OLEDs created using the PEDOT:PSS anode possessed highly comparable characteristics to those created using ITO anodes.
Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) has revolutionized genetics and become one of the most popular techniques in modern biological and medical sciences. It can be used not only as an in vitro DNA amplification method but also used in many bioassay applications. The PCR can be used to exponentially produce a large number of DNA copies from a small quantity of DNA molecules in a few hours. However, as unwanted DNA fragments are also often manufactured, the amplification efficiency of PCR is decreased. To overcome this limitation, several nanomaterials have been employed to increase the specificity of the PCR reaction. Recently, graphene has attracted a great interest for its excellent electron transfer, thermal and biocompatibility. Especially, gold nanoparticle-coated graphene oxide (GO/AuNPs) led to enhance electron and thermal transfer rate and low-charge transfer resistance. Therefore, we report the development of a demonstration for the PCR efficiency using a large-scale production of the GO and combination of gold nanoparticles. Because a thermal conductivity is an important factor for improving the PCR efficiency in different DNA polymerases and different size samples. When PCR use GO/AuNPs, the result of transmission electron microscopy and real-time quantitative PCR (qPCR) showed an enhanced PCR efficiency. We have demonstrated that GO/AuNPs would be simply outperformed for enhancing the specificity and efficiency of DNA amplification procedure.
Efficiency of the compressor is most important parameter in the domestic refrigerator which runs year around. With developed analytical model about heat transfer analysis in the hermetic compressor, parametric study was performed to know the effect on efficiency by design and material modification of the compressor. Volumetric efficiency of the compressor increased approximately $3\%$ when insulation is increased about $50\%$ in suction component. However, the insulation effect on discharge component was only $1\%$. When the thermal conductivity of the discharge plenum is reduced from 300 to 20 $W/m{\cdot}K$, volumetric efficiency increased about $3.1\%$. There is no attraction in efficiency increment with variation of outside surface area of the compressor and radial heat transfer coefficient of the solid component in the compressor shell.
Supercapacitors, which can deliver significant energy with high power density, have attracted a lot of attention due to their potential application in energy storage. Among various oxide materials, sodium vanadate has been recognized as one of the most promising electrode materials because of high electrical conductivity. In addition, larger layer spacing of ${\beta}$-Na0.33V2O5 compared to V2O5 makes easier Li+ insertion. Moreover, ${\beta}$-Na0.33V2O5 has a tunnel like structure along b axis with 3 kinds of V site allowing it to enhance the ion intercalation by introducing three different intercalation sites along the tunnel. The tunnel can act as a fast diffusion path for ion diffusion, which can improve the overall charge storage kinetics. In this study, high quality single crystalline sodium vanadate (${\beta}$-Na0.33V2O5) nanowires were grown directly on Pt coated $SiO_2$ substrate by a facile chemical solution deposition method without employing catalyst, surfactant or carrier gas. The results show that great enhancement in capacitance was observed compared with previous reports.
Nickel-cobalt-manganese (NCM) lithium-ion batteries(LIBs) are increasingly prominent in the energy storage system due to their high energy density and cost-effectiveness. However, they face significant challenges, such as rapid capacity fading and structural instability during high-voltage operation cycles. Addressing these issues, numerous researchers have studied the enhancement of electrochemical performance through the coating of NCM cathode materials with substances like metal oxides, lithium composites, and polymers. Coating these cathode materials serves several critical functions: it acts as a protection barrier against electrolyte decomposition, mitigates the dissolution of transition metals, enhances the structural integrity of the electrode, and can even improve the ionic conductivity of the cathode. Ultimately, these improvements lead to better cycle stability, increased efficiency, and enhanced overall battery life, which are crucial for the advancement of NCM-based lithium-ion batteries in high-demand applications. So, this paper will review various cathode coating materials and examine the roles each plays in improving battery performance.
Nano-sized gadolinium-doped ceria (GDC)/nickel particle-dispersed $La_ySr_{1-y}Ti_{1-x}Fe_xO_3$ (LSFTO)-based composite solid oxide fuel cell anodes were fabricated by an infiltration method and the effects of the GDC/Ni nanoparticles on the anode polarization resistance and cell performance were investigated in terms of the infiltration time and nickel content. The anodic polarization resistance of the LSFTO anode was significantly enhanced by GDC and/or Ni infiltration and it decreased with increasing infiltration time and Ni content, respectively. It is believed that the observed phenomena are associated with enhancement of the ionic conductivity and catalytic activity in the nanocomposite anodes by the addition of GDC and Ni. Power densities of cells with the LSFTO and LSFTO-GDC/Ni nanocomposite anodes were 150 and $300mW/cm^2$ at $800^{\circ}C$, respectively.
