비대면 공학교육에서 공개 및 실명 여부에 따른 학습자 질문 방식의 전략과 효과에 관한 연구 (Strategies and Effects of Questioning Methods Based on Anonymity/Openness in Remote Engineering Education)

  • Students' questions are essential and important for learning, but previous research and experience of instructors shows that there is a lack of interaction between instructors and students in online classes. This research studies how learners can effectively ask questions in online classes at engineering colleges. Based on two axes of anonymity and openness, the four different types of questioning methods were suggested as 'onymous/public', 'onymous/private', 'anonymous/public' and 'anonymous/private.' In this study, seven communication channels were applied to check their effectiveness in an online class. The results showed that learners' satisfaction with learning outcomes increased compared to previous offline classes, while satisfaction with teaching methods was similar. Additionally, among the four types of questioning methods, the preference and effectiveness of 'anonymous/public' was highest, followed by 'onymous/private'. This study suggests several implications of educational approaches to online education in engineering colleges.

공학계열내 학부연구생 프로그램의 실태 분석 (Analysis of the Reality of the Undergraduate Research Assistant Program in Engineering College)

  • This study proposes a means of guiding undergraduate research assistants programs in a more positive direction. This will be achieved by researching the reality of the programs operated in engineering departments for graduate school students and by analyzing the problems thereof. To achieve this objective, a literature study and research were conducted, which comprised of a survey on 204 graduate school students within the metropolitan area of Korea. The results of the study demonstrated that experience as an undergraduate research assistant has a positive influence on the adaptation to and life in graduate school. However, the role of the student and the level of salary varied depending on the role of the student, based on the capacity and support of individual professors. Thus, it is deemed that there will be a need for systematic program improvement and the development of a program that can provide significant academic activities, rather than simple experimental assistance.

공과대학 신입생의 자기효능감, 공학흥미, 사회적지지, 대학생활적응 및 학업지속의향 간의 관계 (The relationship among self-efficacy, engineering interest and social support on adjustment to college and learning persistence in first year engineering college students)

  • The purpose of this research is to investigate the relationship among self-efficacy, engineering interest and social support on adjustment to college and learning persistence in first year engineering college students. The participants were 74 freshman of engineering college students, SPSS and SmartPLS were used to analyze the data. The key findings revealed were as follows: First, self-efficacy, engineering interest and social support had a significant influence on adjustment to college. Second, engineering interest and adjustment to college had a significant influence on learning persistence. This research suggested the implications for adjustment to college and learning persistence in engineering education.

공학교육 빅 데이터 분석 도구 개발 연구 (Research on the Development of Big Data Analysis Tools for Engineering Education)

  • As information and communication technology has developed remarkably, it has become possible to analyze various types of large-volume data generated at a speed close to real time, and based on this, reliable value creation has become possible. Such big data analysis is becoming an important means of supporting decision-making based on scientific figures. The purpose of this study is to develop a big data analysis tool that can analyze large amounts of data generated through engineering education. The tasks of this study are as follows. First, a database is designed to store the information of entries in the National Creative Capstone Design Contest. Second, the pre-processing process is checked for analysis with big data analysis tools. Finally, analyze the data using the developed big data analysis tool. In this study, 1,784 works submitted to the National Creative Comprehensive Design Contest from 2014 to 2019 were analyzed. As a result of selecting the top 10 words through topic analysis, 'robot' ranked first from 2014 to 2019, and energy, drones, ultrasound, solar energy, and IoT appeared with high frequency. This result seems to reflect the current core topics and technology trends of the 4th Industrial Revolution. In addition, it seems that due to the nature of the Capstone Design Contest, students majoring in electrical/electronic, computer/information and communication engineering, mechanical engineering, and chemical/new materials engineering who can submit complete products for problem solving were selected. The significance of this study is that the results of this study can be used in the field of engineering education as basic data for the development of educational contents and teaching methods that reflect industry and technology trends. Furthermore, it is expected that the results of big data analysis related to engineering education can be used as a means of preparing preemptive countermeasures in establishing education policies that reflect social changes.

기술기반 창업 활성화를 위한 이공계 창업교육에 관한 연구 (A Study of Entrepreneurship Education of University in Science and Engineering for Vitalization of Technology-based Startup)

  • Entrepreneurship has been considered as an engine to lead economy, which has been resulting in a focus on entrepreneurship education to promote entrepreneurship. This paper focuses on science and engineering students, and analyzes the relationship between entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurship level. The response results of 950 students (34 universities) were as follows. First, the entrepreneurship level of science and engineering students are a little high but not as significant more than non-science and engineering. Second, science and engineering students have an impact on the level of entrepreneurship about entrepreneurship courses. Third, entrepreneurship courses and clubs have an effect on entrepreneurship level. As a conclusion, we have to improve the quality of entrepreneurship education, recognize startup as a credit, and build up entrepreneurship education ecosystem through the local area network.

미국 대학 기계공학 실험교육 분석 및 제안 (Analysis and Suggestion on Experiment Education in Mechanical Engineering of Universities in USA)

  • This work investigated experiment education in mechanical engineering of universities in USA. Through the investigation, characteristics of each university were analyzed. Finally, the study suggested new contents of experiment education, full-time professors and staffs for experiment, cooperation with design and experiment education, and incentive for the development of experiment education.
