Numerical and experimental research on actuator forces in toggled active vibration control system (Part I: Numerical)

  • In this research, toggled actuator forces were examined. For achieving to this object, an actuator was installed in a toggle pattern in a S.D.O.F frame and actuator forces were investigated thru a numerical analysis process. Within past twenty years, researchers tried to use strong bracing systems as well as huge dampers to stabilize tall buildings during intensive earthquakes. Eventually, utilizing of active control systems containing actuators to counter massive excitations in structures was emerged. However, the more powerful earthquake excitations, the more robust actuators were required to be installed in the system. Subsequently, the latter process made disadvantage to the active control system due to very high price of the robust actuators as well as their large demands for electricity. Therefore, through a numerical process (Part I), influence of toggled actuator pattern was investigated. The algorithm used in the system was LQR and ATmega328 was selected as a control platform. For comparison, active tendon control system was chosen. The final results show clearly that using the toggle pattern mitigates the required actuator forces enormously leading to deploy much lighter actuators.

로버스트 추정에 근거한 수정된 ${\bar{x}}$-s 관리도의 설계 (Design of Modified ${\bar{x}}$-s Control Chart based on Robust Estimation)

  • Control charts are generally used for process control, but the role of traditional control charts have been limited in case of a non-contaminated process. Traditional ${\bar{x}}$-s control chart has not been activated well for such a problem because of trying to control processes as center line and control limits changed by the contaminated value. This paper suggests modified ${\bar{x}}$-s control chart based on robust estimation. In this paper, we consider the trimmed mean of the sample means and the trimmed mean of the sample standard deviations. By comparing with ARL value, the responding results are decided. The comparison resultant results of traditional control chart and modified control chart are contrasted.

  • A nonlinear process-model based control for main steam temperature control of a 100MW oil-fired drum-type fossil power plant is delveloped and its performances are compared to those of the conventional PID control. The process model for simulation is derived based "first priciple approach" and is validated in steady and transient conditions. The model is in good agreements with the field test data. Performances of the nonlinear PMBC for main steam temperature control are far superior to those of PID in all aspects for the disturbances of ramp increase in load and step change in fuel Btu value.

  • Since the welding process is complex and highly nonlinear, it is very difficult to accurately model the process for real-time control. In this paper, a discrete-time transfer function matrix model for gas metal arc welding process is proposed. Although this linearized model is valid only around the operating point of interest, the adaptation mechanism employed in the control system render this model useful over a wide operating range. A multivariable one-step-ahead adaptive control strategy combined with a recursive least-squares method for on-line parameter estimation is implemented in order to achieve the desired weld bead geometries. Command following and disturbance rejection properties of the adaptive control system for both SISO and MIMO cases are investigated by simulation and experiment.

  • This paper presents an explicit pole-assignment adaptive servocontrol shceme and its application to cutting force regulation for feedrate maximization. The controller structure of the suggested adaptive control scheme is based on robust control theory. This controller structure is then combined with an on-line model estimation algorithm. The whole scheme is applied to a milling process control. The results of real time cutting experimental studies show that the asymptotic regulation of milling peak cutting forces can be achieved with robust- ness against the time varying perturbations to the process model parameters, which are caused by nonlinear cutting dynamics.

  • In this paper an ANFIS(Adativo Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System)- based fault detection and diagnosis for a closed loop control system is proposed. The proposed diagnostic system contains two ANFIS. One is run as a parallel model within the model in closed loop control(MCL) and the other is run as a series-parallel model within the process in closed loop(PCL) for the generation of relevant symptoms for fault diagnosis. These symptoms are further processed by another classification logic with simple rules and neural network for process and controller fault diagnosis. Experimental results for a DC shunt motor control system illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed diagnostic scheme.

  • There are two important variables in machining process control, which are feed and cutting speed. In this work, a two degree-of-freedom controller is designed and implemented to achieve on-line cutting force control based on the modelling of cutting process dynamics which are established through step response test. Two schemes are proposed and implemented. The first is feed control under the constant spindle speed and spindle speed control under the constant fled speed. The second is a simultaneous control of feed and spindle speed. Those are confirmed to work properly. Especially the latter shows a faster response and we'll be evaluated to pare away workpiece by simultaneous control of position and cutting farce sooner or later.

  • Recently technologies have created new principle and theory but the PID control system remains its popularity as the PID controller contains simple structure, including maintenance and parameter adjustment being so simple. The adjust parameter of PID to achieve best response of process which be using time and may be error if user are not expert. Nowadays this problem was solved by develop PID controller which can analysis and auto tune parameter are appropriate with process which used principle of Ziegler ? Nichols but it are expensive and designed for each task. Thus, this paper proposes auto tune PID based on FPGA by use principle of Dahlin which maximum overshoot not over 5 percentages and do not fine tuning again. It have performance in control process are neighboring controller in industrial and simple to use. Especially, It can use various process and low price. The auto tune digital PID processor embedded on chip FPGA XC2S50-5tq-144. The digital PID processor was designed by fundamental PID equation which architectures including multiplier, adder, subtracter and some other logic gate. It was verified by control model of temperature control system.

  • Electrolytic in-process dressing (ELID) grinding is a new technique for achieving a nanoscale surface finish on hard and brittle materials such as optical glass and ceramics. This process applies an electrochemical dressing on the metal-bonded diamond wheels to ensure constant protrusion of sharp cutting grits throughout the grinding cycle. In conventional ELID grinding, a constant source of pulsed DC power is supplied to the ELID cell, but a feedback mechanism is necessary to control the dressing power and obtain better performance. In this study, we propose a new closed-loop wheel dressing technique for grinding wheel truing that addresses the efficient correction of eccentric wheel rotation and the nonuniformity in the grinding wheel profile. The technique relies on an iterative control algorithm for the ELID power supply. An inductive sensor is used to measure the wheel profile based on the gap between the sensor head and wheel edge, and this is used as the feedback signal to control the pulse width of the power supply. We discuss the detailed mathematical design of the control algorithm and provide simulation results that were confirmed experimentally.

  • 최근 석유 위주의 에너지원에서 가스나 신재생에너지와 같은 새로운 에너지원을 생산 혹은 이용하는 공정들에 대한 연구가 활발한 가운데 이러한 공정들의 상업화를 위해서는 조업 중 에너지 절감과 생산 단가의 경제성 확보가 필수적이며, 이를 위해서는 적합한 공정제어 기법의 도입이 필수적이라 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 지난 50여 년간 공정산업에 적용된 다양한 공정제어 기법 중 큰 기틀이 되는 몇몇 기술을 소개하고, 가스 관련 공정의 응용 예 및 앞으로 나아갈 방향에 대해 논하였다.
