Policy literacy plays a critical role in enhancing deliberative communication among the public, policymakers, and experts. It also helps develop a positive view of policy by the public, which facilitates public acceptance. Despite its importance, however, policy literacy has received little attention in energy policy practice. Therefore, this study explores factors affecting the public's understanding and knowledge (i.e., policy literacy) of nuclear and new-renewable energy policies. Accordingly, we analyzed data from an online survey of 790 laypeople in Korea. Specifically, we examined the effects of trust, transparency, and policy public relations (PR) on the policy literacy of the public regarding the two alternative energy sources. The analysis revealed that people showed higher policy literacy about the alternative sources when provided with more transparent information and exposed to more policy PR activities. However, we found that trust in energy plant operators played a negligible role in improving policy literacy for both energy sources. Based on these findings, we developed some policy suggestions to secure the energy policy literacy of the public.

With the recent growth of information technology, various literacy such as digital literacy, data literacy, AI literacy is being studied. In this paper, we focus on data visualization literacy as visualization is an essential part of big data analysis and is used in several mobile apps. Visualization Literacy Assessment Test(VLAT) was developed in 2016 and we introduce how the test was developed and modified to a Korean version, K-VLAT. K-VLAT is consisted of 12 visualizations and 53 questions through a website. Additionally, to understand the research trend in visualization literacy we analyzed 81 papers that had cited the VLAT publication. We categorized the research into 4 categories with 11 sub-categories. The area of studies visualization literacy related to was understanding the relation with cognition, expanding the literacy measures, relation with education, utilization for developing user-centric dashboards or using the test to show effectiveness of visualizations. At last, we discuss about different ways to utilize K-VLAT for future research.

This paper attempts to study the impact of Financial Literacy on Youth Entrepreneurial Intent in Pakistan. A closed-ended self-administered structured questionnaire covering financial literacy, computer knowledge, financial attitude, and financial knowledge with Entrepreneurial Intent was collected from young entrepreneurs. The research tried to investigate the education level with computer skill to inspect the effect of financial literateness on young generation Entrepreneurial Intent in the context of Pakistan. The research model was tested using PLS-SEM and authenticating a measurement model through the advanced methodology and their association with Entrepreneurial Intent. Results revealed that financial literacy and its two parts (financial attitude and financial knowledge) have a positive impact on Entrepreneurial Intent. The size of the joint impact of financial literacy and its components on Entrepreneurial Intent was assessed to be adequate. Entrepreneurial Intent is essential for creating new firms to maintain economic development. Furthermore, it is determined in this research that if youth has better financial knowledge and financial attitude, the probability of Entrepreneurial Intent increases. This suggests that if the youth in Pakistan desire to attain a higher limit of Entrepreneurial Intent, they must implement financial literacy models for enhancing and promoting their current Entrepreneurial Intent.
This paper discusses the use of GPT and GPT API for prompt engineering in the development of the interactive smart device lock screen application "Smart Lock," aimed at enhancing literacy among young children and lower-grade elementary and middle school students during critical language development periods. In an era where media usage via smartphones is widespread among children, smartphone-based media is often cited as a primary cause of declining literacy. This study proposes an application that simulates conversations with parents as a tool for improving literacy, providing an environment conducive to literacy enhancement through smartphone use. Generative AI GPT was employed to create literacy-improving problems. Using pre-generated data, situational dialogues with parents were presented, and prompt engineering was utilized to generate questions for the application. The response quality was improved through parameter tuning and function calling processes. This study investigates the potential of literacy improvement education using generative AI through the development process of interactive applications.
Engineering Colleges in Korea have two educational objectives: 1) strengthening of speciality 2) cultivation of the engineering literacy such as the ability of working together, the ability of communication and creative thinking. In order to achieving these objectives, Engineering Literacy education was originated. The improvable proposal of general education course of engineering college is divided into two parts. One is American type that emphasizes on the general education independently of major. The other is Korean ABEEK's type that attach importance to engineering literacy. This study researches the case of Seoul National University that applied ABEEK's engineering literacy on redesigning the curriculum. To redesign the curriculum, college of engineering, Seoul National University reduced the optional courses in general education and had the students complete the engineering literacy. This device is effective, because it is able to keep the universal general education and make the most of major's characteristics.
The purpose of this study is to develop the Artificial Intelligence thinking-based education program for improving AI literacy and verify its effectiveness for beginner. This program consists of 17 sessions, was designed according to the "ABCDE" model and is a project-based program. This program was conducted on 51 first-year middle school students and 36 respondents excluding missing values were analyzed in R language. The effect of this program on ethics, understanding, social competency, execution plan, data literacy, and problem solving of AI literacy is statistically significant and has very large practical significance. According to the result of this study, this program provided learners experiencing Artificial Intelligence education for the first time with Artificial Intelligence concepts and principles, collection and analysis of information, and problem-solving processes through application in real life, and served as an opportunity to enhance AI literacy. In addition, education program to enhance AI literacy should be designed based on AI thinking.

A study was conducted to develop Internet Literacy Questionnaire(ILQ) to investigate the levels of user's knowledge on Internet literacy. ILQ was found to be reliable (showed an internal consistency) with Cronbach's alpha of 0.93(p-value<0.001) and valid with test-retest correlation of 0.90 (p-value<0.001). ILQ, composed of 21 questions, was developed to test four areas of user's Internet literacy: general experience on Internet, advanced experience on Internet, knowledge on Internet program languages, and Internet application software programs. These four factors represented 69.2% of the knowledge of all areas of Internet literacy. As a result, ILQ could be used to differentiate the levels of user's Internet knowledge as beginners, intermediates, and experts before any Internet application programs are to be developed.
The purpose of this study is to investigate how fusion science program for undergraduate general education influences the understanding of Nature of Science (NOS) and STEAM Literacy of students majoring in science and engineering in college. The students participated in the pre/post NOS survey(Lee, 2013) and the STEAM literacy survey(Choi et al., 2013) in the program. The results of this study are as follows. First, the fusion program was effective in understanding the NOS because there is a statistically significant difference between the pre/post tests.(p < 0.01). Second, while there were no significant differences between genders, however, there is a significant difference in students' majors in NOS understanding(p < 0.05). Third, it showed that improvement in STEAM Literacy in Convergence and Creativity domains is significant(p < 0.01). By contrast, the Caring domain of STEAM Literacy was decreased statically significant(p < 0.01). In the end, there is no difference in STEAM Literacy between genders as well as among students' major(p < 0.05).
The purpose of this study is to analyze university students' views on STS(science-technology-society) literacy. We divided definition and interaction of science, technology and society in the views' category about STS literacy. Research object was three universities' students(engineering department: 119 and social science department: 117) in Seoul and Jeju. Research result was following. First, students from engineering department valued convenience of life in the definition of science and technology. Students from social science department valued explanation of phenomenon and experiment in the definition of science and technology. Second, two groups perceived inter-relationship of science, technology and society. Third, two groups had different opinions about responsibility and ethics of scientific technician and technical use. As a result of this study, students perceived highly about STS literacy. As disasters have been increasing in recent years, disaster health literacy is gaining more important for a population such as middle-age women. This is because they face developmental crises (menopause) and situational crisis (disaster). Due to the growing elderly population, it is imperative to seriously consider the issue of aging women's healthcare, and their educational needs relative to emergencies and disasters. The purpose of study was to clarify the importance of disaster health literacy for middle-age women. This study is a review of the literature using PubMed, ScienceDirect, Web of Science, Google Scholar, SCOPUS, OVID, ProQuest, Springer, and Wiley. Data was collected with keywords related to the research topic ("Women's health" OR "Geriatric health") AND ("Health literacy" OR "Disaster health literacy" OR "Disaster prevention literacy" OR "Risk knowledge" OR "Knowledge management") AND ("Disasters" OR "Risk" OR "Crises") in combination with the Boolean-operators OR and AND. We reviewed full text English-language articles published November 2011 November 2017. Additional references were identified from reference lists in targeted publications, review articles and books. This review demonstrated that disaster health literacy is critical for elderly women, because they may suffer from physical and psychological problems triggered by developmental crises such as menopause and situational crises such as disasters. Disaster literacy could enable them to improve resiliency and reduce disaster risk. Education has vital role in health promotion of middle-age women. Policymakers and health managers should be aware of the challenges of elderly women as a vulnerable group in disasters and develop plans to incorporate disaster health literacy for preparedness and prevention in educating this group.
