Curved beam through matrices associated with support conditions

  • In this article, the values of internal force and deformation of a curved beam under any action with the firm or elastic supports are determined by using structural matrices. The article presents the general differential formulation of a curved beam in global coordinates, which is solved in an orderly manner using simple integrals, thus obtaining the transfer matrix expression. The matrix expression of rigidity is obtained through reordering operations on the transfer notation. The support conditions, firm or elastic, provide twelve equations. The objective of this article is the construction of the algebraic system of order twenty-four, twelve transfer equations and twelve support equations, which relates the values of internal force and deformation associated with the two ends of the directrix of the curved beam. This final algebraic system, expressed in matrix form, is divided into two subsystems: twelve algebraic equations of internal force and twelve algebraic equations of deformation. The internal force and deformation values for any point in the curved beam directrix are determined from these values in the initial position. The five examples presented show how to apply the matrix procedures developed in this article, whether they are curved beams with the firm or elastic support.

  • This paper aimed at investigating the relationships between business culture and management innovation. Some descriptive analyses were made, and a case study was conducted As a result it was shown that the firm with good business culture and good fellowships could achieve the goal of business innovation more efficiently than the other firm without good business culture.

Information technology and firm performance using resource-based view (자원축이론에 의한 정보기술과 기업성과)

  • This paper investigates relationship between information technology(IT) and firm's performance. Responses from 101 companies relating to their experiences with IT implementation are presented. In this paper, it is assumed that companies' resource classified as the human, business, and IT resource relying on resource-based view, and its performance as the overall performance and IT performance. The findings show that IT resource among companies' resource is most strongly correlated with its performance. In particular, IT-intensive firms show better the overall performance than IT-lagging firms.

  • Business process engineering (BPE) is a top-down management approach for increasing efficiency and productivity through radical and fundamental changes to the business processes of the organization. BPE requires firms to initially develop a model of the existing business processes of the firm to distinguish functional tasks from processes used for coordinating inputs, activities and outputs. The model is used for understanding the business processes in the organization and to simulate the effect of changes to the processes. The model can also be used to justify business processes, which involves assessing whether the business process provides value to the customer in its current configuration. Justification requires a careful examination of the key business processes used by the firm to identify systemic shortcomings in the process and to create a new business process to produce greater efficiency. BPE also considers automating as many business processes as possible to increase operational efficiency and the integration of business process tasks. The construction industry has been slow to adopt BPE because of its project approach in which a major firm contracts with various functional service providers and regards each project as unique. The industry focuses on functional task efficiency rather than business process efficiency. There is no formal methodology or criteria for determining whether a business process is effective for a construction firm in its current configuration. The use of performance measures such as costs, task duration times or other metrics can be useful in evaluating the effectiveness of an existing business process and for modeling the possible outcome of a fundamental and radical change to the process.

  • In real-time control systems, the traditional timing analysis based on worst-case response-time(WCRT) is too conservative for the firm and soft real-time control systems, which permit the maximum utilization factor greater than one. We suggested a probabilistic analysis method possible to apply the firm and soft real-time control systems under considering dependency relationship between tasks. The proposed technique determines the deadline miss probability(DMP) of each task from computing the average response-time distribution under a fixed-priority scheduling policy. The method improves the predictable ability forthe average performance and the temporal behavior of real-time control systems.

  • Since the wireless sensor networks become pervasive, various application-specific requirement have been emerged and suggested. Among them, reliability and real-time service are ones of big research challenges since sensed information is useless if a packet is lost and delivered later than deadline. Even though many research works have been proposed, they was designed to meet one of both requirements. To solve above problem, in this paper, we propose how to extend current protocol to meet two requirements together. More detailed, Mint Route protocol is revised to meet specific real-time requirement, (m,k)-firm stream in wireless sensor networks. Since the main operations in MintRoute are very similar to definition of (m,k)-firm stream, extension is achieved by modifying some parts of procedure. Finally, the simulation results are given and analyzed to validate the its suitability for reliable and real-time requirement.

Business Model and Its Financial Performance: An Empirical Approach to Product and Process Fit (제품 및 공정 적합성과 기업성과와의 관계에 대한 실증연구)

  • This paper attempts to identify the relationship between the business model and its financial performance through the construct of business paradigm, fit which may be defined as the congruence between the customer needs (the demand side) and the firm competence( supply side) to meet them, Each business model\`s business paradigm fit reflects how well the technology that business model has taken is interconnected with market. Basically, the business paradigm fit consists of two parts, product fit dealing with the product(s) to meet the customer needs well and process fit focusing on producing and/or providing that product(s) at the lowest costs. For empirical tasting the business paradigm fit matrix and the measures for them were developed and the data about 73 companies as sample were collects with questionnaires. The findings are: First business paradigm fit can be used as a strong empirical indicator for the firm performance, Second. balance fit in product or process gives to the most desirable outcomes and no fit brings about the worst ones. Third the over fit(the case of doing more excessive innovative efforts than to be needed) shows much better outcomes than the under fit(the case of doing less innovative efforts) Fourth, this paper shows where, in what situation, and what type of innovation has to be taken for firm success at firm level, whereas Schumpeter(1934) already indicated the importance of innovation for economic growth at the economy /industry level. However, further study should be done later with more refined measures and expanded sample data.

  • The purpose of this study is to whether management strategy types are archived improving the business performance and strategic performance management system makes a significant influence on the business performance. Another objective is to identify whether the interaction between management strategy types and strategic performance management system makes a significant influence on the business performance. The results of this study indicate that diversity performance measures(strategy types) are effect partially presented on the firm's performances. And, firms which have the higher using diversity performance measures(strategy types) are achieve the higher firm's performances than lower using firm's(strategy types). And, the interaction of Management strategy types and diversity performance measures are effect partially presented on the firm's performances.

The Impact of Value Creation and Appropriation Elements on Performance (가치 창조 및 전유 요소가 기업의 성과에 미치는 영향)

  • Companies must capture value for sustainable growth. Capturing value is a critical task for companies, particularly when operating own businesses and organizations or starting new business. The business strategy of many companies focuses on capturing the maximum value from customers and other stakeholders. Even though a wide range of studies on value creation and appropriation has been conducted in the strategic management field, most of studies are still conceptual and theoretical. Thus more empirical studies are required to suggest future-oriented value strategy. This study reveals the value creation and appropriation elements in the aviation industry of Korea. The purpose of this study is to understand the trend of value creation and appropriation in the industry. In addition, the relationship between the elements and firm's performance are tested. The firm's performance is defined by that past and future point of views. The sample were collected from Korean Air and Asiana Air. The empirical test shows that the elements of value creation-appropriation have significant impact on firm's performance. Further, the element of value appropriation to customer has a positive impact both on firm's past and future performance. Our results show that investors acknowledge a value-based strategy as a sign of stock valuation. The results of this test correspond with the earlier one, showing that maximizing customers value rather than shareholder value does deliver impressive returns. The finding suggest that companies need to change their strategy to efficiently manage performance. With the test results, we propose a value-based strategy to maximize firm's future financial and stock performance.
