The solid-state drive (SSD) possesses higher input and output speeds, more resistance to physical shock, and lower latency compared with regular hard disks; hence, it is an increasingly popular storage device. However, tiny components on an internal printed circuit board (PCB) hinder the manual detection of malfunctioning components. With the rapid development of artificial intelligence technologies, automatic detection of components through convolutional neural networks (CNN) can provide a sound solution for this area. This study proposes applying the YOLOv5 model to SSD PCB component detection, which is the first step in detecting defective components. It achieves pioneering state-of-the-art results on the SSD PCB dataset. Contrast experiments are conducted with YOLOX, a neck-and-neck model with YOLOv5; evidently, YOLOv5 obtains an mAP@0.5 of 99.0%, essentially outperforming YOLOX. These experiments prove that the YOLOv5 model is effective for tiny object detection and can be used to study the second step of detecting defective components in the future.
Machine tool errors have to be characterized and predicted to improve machine tool accuracy. A real-time error compensation system has been developed based on volumetric error synthesis model which is composed of machine tool errors. This paper deals with new algorithm about verification of machine tool errors. This new algorithm uses a simplified volumetric error synthesis model. This simplified model is constructed with only main components among the error components of the machines. This main error components are analyzed by three-dimensional helical ball bar test. By substituting result of helical ball bar test fer simplified model, we could find that obtained error components are closed to real error components.
The management of waste tire rubber has become a pressing environmental and health issue, requiring sustainable solutions to mitigate fire hazards and conserve natural resources. The performance of waste materials in structural components needs to be investigated to fabricate sustainable structures. This study aims to investigate the behavior of glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) reinforced rubberized concrete (GRRC) compressive components under compressive loads. Nine GRRC circular compressive components, varying in longitudinal and transverse reinforcement ratios, were constructed. A 3D nonlinear finite element model (FEM) was proposed by means of the ABAQUS software to simulate the behavior of the GRRC compressive components. A comprehensive parametric analysis was conducted to assess the impact of different parameters on the performance of GRRC compressive components. The experimental findings demonstrated that reducing the spacing of GFRP stirrups enhanced the ductility of GRRC compressive components, while the addition of rubberized concrete further improved their ductility. Failure in GRRC compressive components occurred in a compressive columnar manner, characterized by vertical cracks and increased deformability. The finite element simulations closely matched the experimental results. The proposed empirical model, based on 600 test samples and considering the lateral confinement effect of FRP stirrups, demonstrated higher accuracy (R2 = 0.835, MSE = 171.296, MAE = 203.549, RMSE = 195.438) than previous models.
A business model (BM) can be developed based on a business model framework (BMF) consisting of key components such as value proposition, customers, and resources. To systematically generate and analyze emerging BMs such as healthcare BM, an integration of diverse BMF components is needed. The present study is to establish a comprehensive BMF and evaluate its applicability to healthcare BMs. Based on a review of eight BMF studies, ten BMF components were identified and classified into five major components (value proposition, resources, organizing model, customers, and revenue model) and five minor components (technology, service platform, delivery, competitive strategy, and growth/exit) by analyses of frequency and functional importance. Lastly, the BMs of three emerging healthcare companies (WellDoc, Inc., CFW Shops, and Aravind Eye Care System) were analyzed and compared in terms of the proposed BMF components. The comprehensive BMF components presented in the study can be of help for developing new BMs and analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of BMs.
The purpose of this paper is to present a model to design the layout of the user interface components that handles many numbers of qualitative factors. An alternate rating system is also proposed for the closeness relationship ratings between the various pairs of components evaluated by using GOMS (goals, operators, methods and selection rules) technique. The proposed model is applied to the design of the part of the user interface in order to obtain the best layout of the components. The results of the proposed model are compared with that of an existing model, which handles single qualitative factor applied to obtain the layouts of user interface components.
A novel, 6-node, two-dimensional mixed finite element (FE) model has been developed to analyze laminated composite beams by using the minimum potential energy principle. The model has been formulated by considering four degrees of freedom (two displacement components u, w and two transverse stress components ${\sigma}_z$, $\tau_{xz}$) per node. The transverse stress components have been invoked as nodal degrees of freedom by using the fundamental elasticity equations. Thus, the present mixed finite element model not only ensures the continuity of transverse stress and displacement fields through the thickness of the laminated beams but also maintains the fundamental elasticity relationship between the components of stress, strain and displacement fields throughout the elastic continuum. This is an important feature of the present formulation, which has not been observed in various mixed formulations available in the literature. Results obtained from the model have been shown to be in excellent agreement with the elasticity solutions for thin as well as thick laminated composite beams. A few results for a cross-ply beam under fixed support conditions are also presented.
Smart structural systems are defined as ones that demonstrate the ability to modify their characteristics and/or properties in order to respond favorably to unexpected severe loading conditions. The performance of such a task requires a set of additional components to be integrated within such systems. These components belong to three major categories, sensors, processors and actuators. It is wellknown that all structural systems entail some level of uncertainty, because of their extremely complex nature, lack of complete information, simplifications and modeling. Similarly, sensors, processors and actuators are expected to reflect a similar uncertain behavior. As it is imperative to be able to evaluate the impact of such components on the behavior of the system, it is as important to ensure, or at least evaluate, the reliability of such components. In this paper, a system model for reliability assessment of smart structural systems is outlined. The presented model is considered a necessary first step in the development of a reliability assessment algorithm for smart structural systems. The system model outlines the basic components of the system, in addition to, performance functions and inter-relations among individual components. A fault tree model is developed in order to aggregate the individual underlying component reliabilities into an overall system reliability measure. Identification of appropriate limit states for all underlying components are beyond the scope of this paper. However, it is the objective of this paper to set up the necessary framework for identifying such limit states. A sample model for a three-story single bay smart rigid frame, is developed in order to demonstrate the proposed framework.
Three 3D nonlinear finite-element models are developed to study the behavior of concrete beams and plates with and without external reinforcement by fibre-reinforced plastic (FRP). All three models are formulated based upon the 3D theory of elasticity. The stress model is modified from the element developed by Ramtekkar, et al. (2002) to incorporate material nonlinearity in the formulation. Both transverse stress and displacement components are used as nodal degrees-of-freedom to ensure the continuity of both stress and displacement components between the elements. The displacement model uses only displacement components as nodal degrees-of-freedom. The transition model has both stress and displacement components as nodal degrees-of-freedom on one surface, and only displacement components as nodal degrees-of-freedom on the opposite surface. The transition model serves as a connector between the stress and the displacement models. The developed models are validated by comparing the results of the analyses with an existing experimental result. Parametric studies of the effects of the externally reinforced FRP on the load capacity of reinforced concrete (RC) beams and concrete plates are performed to demonstrate the practicality and the efficiency of the proposed models.
For the optimization design and strength evaluation of the umbilical cable, the calculation of cross section stress is of great importance and very time consuming. To calculate the cross section stress under combined tension and bending loads, a new integrated analytical model of umbilical cable is presented in this paper. Based on the Hook's law, the axial strain of helical components serves as the tensile stress. Considering the effects of friction between helical components, the bending stress is divided into elastic bending stress and friction stress. For the former, the elastic bending stress, the curvature of helical components is deduced; and for the latter, the shear stress before and after the slipping of helical components is determined. This new analytical model is validated by the experimental results of an umbilical cable. Further, this model is applied to estimate the extreme strength and fatigue life of the umbilical cable used in South China Sea.
Real-life time series characteristic data has significant amount of non-stationary components, especially periodic components in nature. Extracting such components has required many ad-hoc techniques with external parameters set by users in a case-by-case manner. In this study, we used Empirical Mode Decomposition Method from Hilbert-Huang Transform to extract them in a systematic manner with least number of ad-hoc parameters set by users. After the periodic components are removed, the remaining time-series data can be analyzed with traditional methods such as ARIMA model. Then we suggest a different way of setting control chart limits for characteristic data with periodic components in addition to ARIMA components.
