  • This paper describes the design of model-based fault diagnosis software to apply to the propulsion system in tracked amphibious assault vehicle which consists of an engine, a transmission, a cooling system, and two waterjets. This software includes specific functions to detect the failures regarding sensor malfunctions, mechanical malfunctions, control errors, and communication errors. This software generates the proper malfunction codes which are classified as the warning and caution. In order to validate the fault diagnosis software, the manual and automatic test are performed using the test program with 32 test cases. Test results show that the designed fault diagnosis software is reliable and effective for applying to the propulsion system.

군사시설 내 지열 히트펌프 시스템 적용에 따른 에너지 성능과 비용 절감 효과 평가 (Energy Performance and Cost Assessment for Implementing GroundSource Heat Pump System in Military Building)

  • The Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Korea is showing a lot of interest in net zero-energy buildings (NZEBs) to reduce energy consumption of military facilities and to promote green growth policy in military sector. The application of building passive technologies and renewable energies is essential to achieving NZEBs. This paper analyzed energy performance and energy cost on the conventional heating and cooling system (baseline scenario) and three different alternative scenarios (ALT 1, ALT 2 and ALT 3) applied in a hypothetical military building. A building modeling and simulation software (DesignBuilder V6.1) with EnergyPlus calculation engine was used to calculate the energy consumption for each scenario. Overall, when the GSHPs are applied to both space airconditioning and domestic hot water (DHW) production, Alt-2 and Alt-3, the amount of energy consumption for target building can be greatly reduced. In addition, when the building envelope performance is increased like Alt-3, the energy consumption can be further reduced. The annual energy cost analysis showed that the baseline was approximately 161 million KRW, while Alt-3 was approximately 33 million KRW. Therefore, it was analyzed that the initial construction cost increase could be recovered within about 6.7 years for ALT 3. The results of this study can help decision-makers to determine the optimal strategy for implementing GSHP systems in military buildings through energy performance and initial construction cost assessment.

  • Shell-and-tube heat exchanger (STHX) is widely used by virtue of its simple structure and high reliability, especially in a space-constrained surface ship. For the STHX of the surface ship, roll, pitch and other motion of the ship will affect the heat transfer performance, resistance characteristics and structural strength of the heat exchanger. Therefore, it is urgent to carry out numerical simulation research on three-dimensional thermal hydraulic characteristics of surface ship STHX under the marine conditions. In this paper, the numerical simulation of marine shell and tube heat exchanger of surface ship was carried out using the porous media model. Firstly, the mathematical physical model and numerical method are validated based on the experimental data of a marine engine cooling water shell and tube heat exchanger. The simulation results are in good agreement with the experimental results. The prediction errors of pressure drop and heat transfer are less than 10% and 1% respectively. The effect of marine conditions on the heat transfer characteristics of the heat exchanger is investigated by introducing the additional force model of marine condition to evaluate the effect of different motion parameters on the heat transfer performance of the heat exchanger. This study could provide a reference for the optimization of marine heat exchanger design.

단독주택 건물 그린리모델링에 따른 건물 에너지 성능과 운전비용 절감 효과 평가 (Energy Performance and Operating Cost Assessment for Implementing Green Remodeling Technologies in a Detached House)

  • The Government the Republic of Korea is showing a lot of interest in net zero-energy buildings (NZEBs) to reduce energy consumption of buildings and to promote green growth policy in construction sector. The application of building passive technologies and renewable energies is essential to achieving NZEBs. Green remodeling reinforced the insulation of the exterior walls and roofs of the buildings and replaced high-efficiency windows and doors. In this study, the energy performance before and after green remodeling applied in a detached house was comparatively analyzed for baseline scenario and three different ones, ALT 1, ALT 2 and ALT 3. A building modeling and simulation software (DesignBuilder V7.0) with EnergyPlus (V9.4) calculation engine was used to calculate the energy demand and energy consumption for each scenario. Based on the calculation results of the building's energy demand for baseline, it was determined that the target building required more heating energy than cooling energy. The simulation results also showed that the implementation of building envelope performance improvement technologies (ALT 1) could notably decrease the heating energy consumption of the building. After the remodeling (ALT 1), the source energy consumption per unit floor area was assessed to be reduced by 65.2%, compared to prior remodeling of 338.7 kWh/m2 -y. Meanwhile, ALT 2 can achieve energy savings of 67.7% and ALT 3 can achieve savings of 73.1%. Following completion of the remodeling project, actual construction costs, and on-site measurements and verification results will be gathered and compared with the simulation results. Additionally, economic analysis including construction costs and payback period will be conducted using actual site data.

  • Many rivers and seas have been affected by environmental contamination. Therefore, city water supplies often require a high-degree purification treatment to provide safe drinking water. However, in order to achieve a high-degree purification treatment, a large amount of chlorine has to be added to sterilize city drinking water. The added chlorine reacts chemically with water and forms hypochlorous and chlorine ions. The hypochlorous ionizes with hypochlorous ions and hydrogen ions. As a result, the city water contains a large amount of chlorine ion. As such, when city water is used with domestic boilers, many kinds of heat exchangers, and the engines of vehicle and ships, there are often corrosion problems. In this study, alkali water was electrochemically made by electrolysis of city water, and corrosion properties between alkali and city water were investigated with an electrochemical method. Most of the chlorine ions are thought to not be contained in the alkali water because the alkali water is created in the cathodic chamber with an electrolysis process. In other words, the chlorine ion can be mostly removed by its migration from a cathodic chamber to an anodic chamber. Moreover, the alkali water also contains a large amount of hydroxide ion. The alkali water indicated relatively good corrosion resistance compared to the city water and the city water exhibited a local corrosion pattern due to the chlorine ion created by a high-degree purification treatment. In contrast, the alkali water showed a general corrosion pattern. Consequently, alkali water can be used with cooling water to inhibit local corrosion by chlorine ions in domestic boilers, various heat exchangers and the engine of ships and for structural steel in a marine structure.

터보 냉동기용 핀튜브에 관한 연구 ( I ) - 응축 열전달에 관하여 - (A Study on Finned Tube Used in Turbo Refrigerator( I ) -for Condensation Hear Transfer-)

  • Through the early 1900's, the evolution of the surface condenser was closely tied to the development of steam engine and the turbine. As the chemical and petroleum industries evolved in the 1900's, the use of surface condensers in many different processes. Today, industry uses condensers in many shapes and sizes. The actual condensation process occurs on the outside surface of tubes. The nature of this surface geometry affects the condenser's heat transfer performance. The first condensers were built with plain tubes. As tube manufacturing techniques advanced, manufacturers started making tubes with integral fins. In the 1940's, fin densities were limited to about 600 to 700 fins per meter(fpm) because of manufacturing procedure. Today new manufacturing techniques allow production of tubes with fin densities ranging from 750 to 1600 fpm. The integral-fin tubes investigated in this paper are nominally 19 mm diameter. Eight tubes have been used with trapezodially shaped integral-fins having fin density from 748 to 1654 fpm and 10, 30 grooves. For comparison, tests are made using a plain tube having the same inside diameter and an outside diameter equal to that at the root of the fins for the finned tubes. Betty and Katz's theoretical modelis is used to predict the R-11 condensation coefficient on horizontal integral-fin tubes having 748, 1024 and 1299 fpm. Experiments are carried out using R-11 as working fluid. The refrigerant condensates at a saturation state of $30^{\circ}C$ on the outside tube surface cooled by coolant. The amount of noncondensable gases present in the test loop is reduced to a negligible value by repeated purging. For a given heat input to the boiler and given cooling water flow rate, all test data are taken at steady state. The observed heat transfer enhancement for the finned and grooved tubes significantly exceeded that to be expected on grounds of increased area. For the eight fin tubes and one plain tube tested, the best performance has been obtained with a tube having a fin density of 1299 fpm, and a fin bight of 1.2mm and 30 grooves.

  • 항공기 및 엔진의 성능 극대화와 운용 유지비 최소화로 인하여 고압터빈 구성품은 점점 더 가혹한 환경에서 장시간 운용을 요구 받고 있다. 이를 해결하기 위해 냉각 극대화, 재료의 고급화, 코팅 기술 적용 등과 함께 재료 모델링, 유한요소해석, 통계적 기법 등의 수치적 해석 방법이 광범위하게 활용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 일방향 응고 재료의 1 단 고압터빈 노즐의 운용 환경인 터빈 노즐 입구온도분포와 장착조건의 변화에 따른 노즐의 구조 건전성을 저주기 피로 수명을 통해 평가하고 가장 유리한 조건을 모색하고자 한다. 이를 위해 냉각 설계에 의한 노즐의 금속 온도 분포는 복합 열전달 해석을 통해 얻으며, 이를 근거로 탄소성 해석을 수행하고 그 결과를 기초로 저주기 피로 수명을 평가하였다.

열 에너지 그리드 연계운전의 운전 거동 특성 분석을 위한 방법론에 관한 연구 (A Study for the Methodology of Analyzing the Operation Behavior of Thermal Energy Grids with Connecting Operation)

  • 본 연구에서는 스마트 열 그리드의 운영 특성 분석을 위한 기초적인 방법론과 해당 방법론에 근거한 열 그리드 연계운전 분석 시뮬레이션 프로그램에 대해 소개하고자 하며, 특히 기존의 광역 열에너지네트워크에 해당하는 집단에너지 시스템 인근에 소규모 열 그리드가 신규로 연계되어 운전될 경우에 대한 각 시스템별 운영특성 및 주요 운전 변수에 대한 상호 영향에 대해 면밀히 살펴볼 수 있는 시뮬레이션 방법론에 대해 고찰해보고자 한다. 본 연구에서 열 그리드 간 연계운전에 따른 기존의 규모가 큰 열 그리드에 대한 영향은 해당 그리드의 연간 시각별 운영 실적 데이터를 바탕으로 한 경험적 상관관계식을 도출하여 간략히 모델링하고자 하였으며, 신규 그리드에 설치, 운영되는 열원 설비들에 대한 운전 특성은 실제 제품의 운전부하별 운전효율 자료에 대한 DB를 구축, 사용함으로서 시뮬레이션 분석 결과의 신뢰도를 제고하고자 하였다. 또한 본 시뮬레이션 프로그램에서는 해당 수요처의 에너지부하 예측에 있어 건물 유형별로 연간, 시각별로 실측한 데이터를 기반으로 수립된 단위 에너지부하 모델을 이용, 예측함으로써 운전시뮬레이션을 통한 최적화 분석 결과의 신뢰성을 확보하고자 하였다. 본 연구에서 기 제안된 방법론 및 이에 근거한 시뮬레이션 분석 결과로부터 그리드 상호간 열 거래에 기반한 복수의 열 그리드 운전 특성 분석 방법의 효용성을 확인할 수 있었으며, 향후 수요자 및 열 에너지 공급자간 다양한 정보의 공유를 근간으로 하는 IT 기반 스마트 열 그리드 최적화 분석으로의 확장을 위한 기초 자료를 확보할 수 있었다.

위성영상과 머신러닝 활용 도시열섬 지역 옥상녹화 효과 예측과 이산화탄소 흡수량 평가 (Predicting the Effects of Rooftop Greening and Evaluating CO2 Sequestration in Urban Heat Island Areas Using Satellite Imagery and Machine Learning)

  • 고밀도 도심지의 열섬현상이 도시 기온을 더 높이고 있으며 이로부터 대기오염 악화, 냉방 에너지 소비 증가 및 온실가스 배출 증대와 같은 부정적 영향들이 발생한다. 녹지의 추가 확보가 어려운 도시 환경에서 옥상녹화는 효율적인 온실가스 감축 전략이다. 본 연구에서는 열섬현상 현황 분석에서 더 나아가 고해상도 위성자료 및 공간정보를 활용하여 연구 지역 내 옥상녹화 가용면적 산정 후 옥상녹화가 가져오는 온도 분포 예측을 통한 열섬현상 완화도 및 이산화탄소 흡수량 평가를 수행하였다. 이를 위해 WorldView-2 위성자료를 활용하여 부산시 도시열섬 지역의 기존 토지피복을 분류하고 머신러닝 기법을 적용하여 옥상녹화 전 후 온도 분포 예측 모델을 개발하였다. 옥상녹화 면적 변화에 따른 열섬현상 완화도를 평가하기 위해 랜덤포레스트 기법을 통해 온도가 종속변수인 온도 분포 예측모델을 구축하였고, 이 과정에서 랜덤포레스트 모델의 훈련자료로 사용될 고해상도 지표 온도 도출을 위해 Google Earth Engine을 활용하여 Landsat-8과 Sentinel-2 위성자료를 융합하는 다중회귀모델을 적용하였다. 또한, 옥상녹화용 초본식생별 이산화탄소 흡수량을 기반으로 녹화 면적에 따른 이산화탄소 흡수량을 평가하였다. 연구 결과를 통해 개발된 위성자료 활용 도시 열섬현상 평가 및 랜덤포레스트 모델 기반 온도 분포 예측 기술은 도시열섬 취약 지역에 확대 적용이 가능할 것으로 기대된다.
