In this study, a variable displacement swash plate pump supplying high-pressure hydraulic oil to control the hydraulic system of a marine engine was developed. A structural analysis was performed on the main parts of the pump to ensure the structural safety in the design. Using a pump testing equipment, performance characteristics such as no-load flow rate, load flow rate, flow rate according to the swivel angle change, flow rate with lubrication orifice, and response time according to the swivel motion were tested. Consequently, the pump was confirmed to satisfy the required specifications.

Recently, many drivers was the damage caused by similar oil product sales and gas station by not using quantitative gas. so, these damages is expected to rise damages by increasing these problem. By using similar oil products, caused damage in the fuel lines' working of lubrication and self-cleaning function for the occurred trouble in the part of the early obsolescence and the accumulation of impurities in the fuel lines, combustion rate due to the difference between retail gasoline engine, the burden of weight, Toxic substances in exhaust emissions, engine oil and unresolved issue is the chemical reaction can occur. to prevent these damages, using the system use in-vehicle state data with OBD-II protocol and measure quantitative gas and similar oil. In this paper, there implement similar oil identification and quantitative gas system through OBD-II scanner to provide WiFi communcation by using WinCe development Board.

AISI 4140 steel is widely used in various mechanical components owing to its superior mechanical properties. Surface hardening techniques are often used to further improve the properties, particularly for applications with moving components. The aim of this research is to understand the effect of heat treatment process on surface properties and tribological characteristics of AISI 4140 steel. In this work, we prepare two different AISI 4140 steel specimens- one cooled by air and one by oil- and determine surface properties such as surface topography and roughness using a confocal microscope. We also observe the cross-sections of the specimens using a scanning electron microscope to understand the difference in the material structure. In addition, we assess the hardness with respect to the distance from the surface using a micro-Vickers hardness tester. After characterizing the surfaces of the specimens, we investigate the wear characteristics of the specimens under hydrodynamic lubrication. The results show the presence of grooves on the surface of the oil-cooled specimens. It is likely that such grooves are formed during the cooling process using the oil. However, we observe no other significant differences in the surface properties of the specimens. The wear test results show the occurrence of severe wear on the oil-cooled specimens, which may be due to the groove formed on the surface. The results of this work may be helpful to improve surface properties using surface hardening techniques from a tribological perspective.
An injector is a mechanical device present inside the engine. Its main function is to supply an appropriate volume of fuel into the combustion chamber, which is directly related to the overall engine efficiency of a car. During the operation of an injector, a magnetic force lifts the parts of the injector from closed position to open position which generates a horizontal force on the needle. The horizontal force acts on a different position from that of the center of mass of the needle. Therefore, this causes eccentricity in the needle and the generation of a tilting motion during the lifting operation which can result in wear. However, appropriate selection of clearances for these parts can prevent wear. In this study, lubrication analysis is conducted to determine the optimum clearance of parts with sliding motion inside the injector. The height functions are derived considering the dynamic behavior and relative velocity of the parts. Using the derived height function, the pressure profiles are calculated for the lubricated surfaces from the Reynolds' equation. Subsequently, the fluid reaction forces are calculated. The equations of motions are applied to the fluid reaction forces and external forces are solved to calculate the minimum film thickness between each part with variation in the clearances. Finally, the optimum clearances are determined. The effect of the clearances on the behavior of the moving parts is presented and discussed.

The centrifugal oil purifier is used in ships for purifying the engine lubrication oil. The momentum needed for the rotation of the cylindrical chamber is obtained by jet injections. The dust particles in the oil are separated by the centrifugal forces moving to the inner wall of the rotating cylindrical chamber body. The dust particles are eliminated when the particles are adsorbed onto the surface of the inner wall of the chamber body. The flow characteristics and the physical behaviours of particles in this centrifugal oil purifier have been investigated numerically and the filtration efficiencies have been evaluated. For the calculations, a commercial code has been used and the SST k-${\omega}$ turbulence model has been adopted. The MRF (Multiple Reference Frame) method has been introduced to consider the rotating effect of the flows. Under various variables, such as particle size, particle density and rotating speed, the filtration efficiencies have been evaluated. It has been verified that the filtration efficiency is increased with the increments of the particle size, the particle density and the rotating speed of the cylindrical chamber.
To reduce the friction losses and the wear amounts in the piston assembly two methods were proposed. One is the modification of surface profile of the skirt part. The surface coating is another method to protect the sliding surfaces. To modify the profile of the skirt surfaces the surfaces were ground to have three different shapes of profiles. Also, several coatings, such as graphite, TiN, and $MoS_2$, and DLC, were used to protect the surfaces of the piston skirts. The specimens of the skirt and the cylinder bores were tested with the reciprocating wear tester. SAE 5W40 engine oil was used in boundary lubrication regime. Among several coatings the graphite and DLC coatings were very effective to reduce the friction forces. Especially, DLC film represented much better tribological performances than the others. The friction coefficient of the graphite coating was the lowest, but the graphite coating was not effective to protect the surfaces.
The friction and wear behaviors of ceramics against steels with lubricants were investigated and compared with those observed in air. Lubrications wbre done by a water and a commercial engine oil as received. The investigated ceramics were $Al_{2}O_{3}$, SiC, and $Si_{3}N_{4}$. Steels with 0.2 wt.% C were heat treated to obtain tempered structure. A cylinder-on-plate tribometer with rotated sliding motion was used to carry out the experiments. In the experiments reported here, the ranges of different testing speeds and loads were used. It was found that the friction and wear characteristics of tested pairs were significantly influenced by environments. In water and oil environments the wear of ceramics was reduced from 10$^{-6}$ g/s down to 10$^{-8}$ g/s in dry sliding at the same values of the frictional power which are the products of the friction coefficient, the load and the sliding speed. SiC showed excellent wear resistant behavior in water sliding, which was the lowest among tested ceramics, but it was, very poor in oils. In case of $Si_{3}N_{4}$, the wear rates were very low under oil environment, but the highest in water. The wear rates of $Al_{2}O_{3}$ were very low in both lubricating conditions at low values of the frictional power, but high at high values of the frictional power.

The centrifugal oil purifier is used in an engine for lubrication and to remove impurities. The momentum needed for the rotation of the cylindrical chamber is obtained by jet injections. An impure particle in the oil is separated by the centrifugal forces moving to the inner wall of the rotating cylindrical chamber body. The dust particles are eliminated when the particles are absorbed onto the surface of the inner wall of the chamber body. The flow characteristics and the physical behaviors of particles in this centrifugal oil purifier were investigated numerically and the filtration efficiencies was evaluated. Owing to rapid development of power device and inverters, most of submarines adopt an eletric propulsion system. Although PMPM(Permanent Magnet Propulsion Motor) propulsion system has relatively higher power, energy conversion efficiency and smaller volume than engine propulsion system, it also produces large amount of heat due to current flowing inside motor coils and change of magnetic field induced by iron core. The produced heat in stator and inverter largely affects motor efficiency and bearing lubrication and causes thermal aging while the system is on operation. So, we analyze the existing cooling system and submarine ESS (Energy Saving System) cooling system whose power consumption is reduced. HILS(Hardware In the Loop System) technique is used for the modelling of the submarine cooling system. To confirm the ESS cooling system characteristic, HILS is simulated using LabVIEW with hardware. As a result, the ESS cooling system has the characteristic of better temperature stability and less power consumption than the existing one.

A variable displacement vane pump is possible to improve the fuel economy by varying the pump capacity with a vane mechanism according to the engine operating speed range and reducing its driving torque. In general the experimental evaluation of the vane pump for the transmission has been performed mainly not with the vehicle or dynamometer test rig but with component test rig due to the implementation and safety problems. In this paper, in order to evaluate the performance of the developed vane pump as well as the compatibility with other rotary and hydraulic components of the target transmission, the transmission dynamometer based test rig is implemented where the developed pump is built into it and then the variable pump capacity and effect of power reduction are investigated experimentally.
