액체로켓엔진 추력실의 재생냉각에 관한 실험적 연구 (I) (Experimental Investigation of the LRE Thrust Chamber Regenerative Cooling.)

  • 본 연구에서는 액체로켓에서 널리 사용되는 재생냉각시스템이 장치된 실험용 액체로켓 엔진을 설계하고 제작하여 연소실험을 수행한 내용을 다루었다. 설계 프로그램을 이용하여 엔진을 설계하였고 이를 바탕으로 엔진을 제작하였다. 연소실험을 통해 측정한 열유속이 계산에 의한 해석결과와 유사하므로 실제로켓엔진의 설계 및 제작에 설계 프로그램을 이용할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 또한 연소시 생성된 탄소층이 냉각성능에 미치는 영향을 간단히 고찰하였다.

  • This paper proposes an optimal design scheme to reduce the noise of the engine cooling fan by adapting Kriging with two meta-heuristic techniques. An engineering model has been developed for the prediction of the noise spectrum of the engine cooling fan. The noise of the fan is expressed as the discrete frequency noise peaks at the BPF and its harmonics and line spectrum at the broad band by noise generation mechanisms. The object of this paper is to find the optimal design for noise reduction of the engine cooling fan. We firstly show a comparison of the measured and calculated noise spectra of the fan for the validation of the noise prediction program. Orthogonal array is applied as design of experiments because it is suitable for Kriging. With these simulated data, we can estimate a correlation parameter of Kriging by solving the nonlinear problem with genetic algorithm and find an optimal level for the noise reduction of the cooling fan by optimizing Kriging estimates with simulated annealing. We notice that this optimal design scheme gives noticeable results. Therefore, an optimal design for the cooling fan is proposed by reducing the noise of its system.

  • 화염유도로 냉각시스템은 발사체 엔진의 점화 시 발생하는 충격파를 감쇠하는 중요한 역할을 수행한다. 또한 이 시스템은 발사체의 구조와 페이로드를 손상시킬 수 있는 커다란 진동을 감소시키기도 한다. 나로우주센터의 발사대에 설치된 화염유도로 냉각시스템은 발사체 엔진의 화염에 직접 물을 분사시키도록 구축되었으며, 나로호의 비행시험 결과는 화염유도로를 냉각하는 관점에서 이 방법이 기능상 우수함을 보여 주었다.

  • A typical cooling system of an engine relies on a water pump that circulates the coolant through the system. The pump is typically driven by the crankshaft through a mechanical link with engine starting. In order to reduce the friction and warm-up time of an engine, the clutch-type water pump (CWP) was applied in 2.0 liter diesel vehicle. The clutch-type water pump can force cooling water to supply into an engine by the operation of an electromagnetic clutch equipped as the inner part of pump system. The onset of CWP is decided by temperature of cooling water and engine oil. And, the control logic for an optimal operation of the clutch-type water pump was developed and applied in engine and vehicle tests. In this study, the warm-up time was measured with the conventional water pump and clutch-type water pump in engine tests. And the emission and the fuel consumption were evaluated under NEDC mode in vehicle tests. Also, tests were carried out for the various temperature conditions starting the operation of CWP. From the results of the study, the application of CWP can improve the fuel consumption and $CO_2$ reduction by about 3%.

  • 액체로켓 연소기 내의 막냉각 특성 분석을 위한 비회체 분무연소에 대한 수치해석을 수행하였다. 막냉각 연료의 특성에 따른 연소기 벽면의 온도변화를 살펴보기 위하여 막냉각용 연료의 유랑, 막냉각용 액적의 직경, 그리고 공기/연료 혼합비를 매개변수로 한 수치해석을 수행하여 연소기 벽면의 온도는 막냉각용 연료 액적 직경의 변화에는 큰 영향을 받지 않지만 막냉각용 연료 유량 및 공기/연료 혼합비에 영향을 받고 있음을 확인하였다. 또한, 추진기관 벽면으로 전달되는 전도 및 복사열유속을 고찰함으로서 이러한 액체 추진기관의 연소특성을 이해하기 위해서는 열복사 및 물성치의 적절한 고찰이 필요함을 지적하였다.

담금 냉각되는 LED 조명엔진의 열특성에 대한 연구 (Study on the Thermal Behavior of Immersion Cooled LED Lighting Engines)

  • This study is aimed at investigating the thermal behavior of immersion-cooled high power LED lighting engines. 3D CFD models have been generated for the numerical analysis. Five cases in terms of the configuration of LED chips have been explored for various passive cooling conditions of the lighting engine, i.e., the natural air convection with a lens, the natural air convection without a lens, the deionized water-immersion cooling condition with a lens. The numerical study reveals that the deionized water-immersion cooled lighting engine has nearly twice better thermal performance than the natural air convection cooled lighting engine containing a lens. The investigation has also demonstrated that the four chips configuration has the better thermal performance than the single chip configuration.

  • Recently, for the thermal system design in an engine room, the importance of the numerical analysis on the heat and fluid flow has been recognized. In the present study, the flow inside an engine room with complex geometry was analysed by use of TURBO-3D program being developed in KIST. Radiator and Cooling fan were simulated by porous media and momentum sources, and the result shows a good agreement with our expectation.

냉각팬 전자제어를 통한 시내버스의 연비 개선 (The Effect of Cooling Fan Control on Fuel Economy of City Bus)

  • This paper focuses on cooling fan control by using a magnetic clutch type for the improvement of fuel economy on a heavy city bus. In general, Heavy duty vehicles use viscous clutch type cooling fan which has some disadvantages, such as slow response, wide temperature variation of engine coolant water. But a magnetic clutch type cooling fan can be controlled electronically so the engine coolant temperature can be precisely controllable and this effects could be used to reduce fuel consumption. A control system for applying the magnetic clutch type cooling fan was developed in this study and applied to the real field test and chassis dynamometer test. The result showed well controlled coolant temperature and enhancement of fuel economy.

  • 본 연구에서는 액체로켓엔진 내부에 라이너를 설치하고 기체 질소를 이용한 막냉각 방법을 사용하여, 라이너의 막냉각 특성을 살펴보았다. 고온 가스는 액체로켓 연소가스와 액체질소를 혼합하여 사용하였다. 기존의 액체로켓엔진 시험 설비에 추가적으로 라이너 냉각 기체를 공급 설비를 구축하였으며, 라이너 및 냉각 기체 공급부를 제작하였다. 10초 연소 실험을 통해 라이너 내부 고온 가스의 온도와 라이너 외부 벽면 온도를 측정하였으며, 기체 질소에 의한 라이너 냉각 특성을 확인하였다.
