Mobile portable devices for wireless network solely depend on a limited battery power. Therefore, we need to design for wireless communication protocols with an energy efficiency. TCP-Westwood is one of the most important approaches on TCP performance improvement in wireless environments that estimates the available bandwidth by using the sampling mechanism. The advantage is that data can be transmitted efficiently using the estimation of available bandwidth. However, when the sender with TCP-Westwood is in a wireless environment, it does not consider of the sampling mechanism operation. In this thesis, a new energy saving transport protocol, called E2TP(Energy Efficient Transport Protocol), is proposed to solve problems which occur when the sender with TCP-Westwood is in a wireless environment. Also, when there are packet loss while doing frequent link error in a wireless environment, E2TP provides the instantaneous segment size adjustment for a more efficient data retransmission. The simulation result proves that the proposed E2TP has better performance in energy efficiency and throughput than both TCP and TCP-Westwood.
A package to transport the high level radioactive materials is required to withstand the hypothetical accident conditions as well as normal transport conditions according to IAEA standards and domestic regulations. The regulations require that the package should maintain the shielding, thermal and structural integrities to release no radioactive material. In general, safety evaluation of packages is performed by experimental methods using scale model and/or analytical methods using computer codes. This paper presents the safety evaluation of package to transport the radioisotopes produced in the HANARO to the radioisotope production facility. Radiation shielding, thermal and structural analyses were peformed using the computer codes. It has been verified that the package is safe under hypothetical accident conditions as well as normal transport conditions.
In this study, a new method called as multi-dropped liquid membrane (MDLM) which is more practical and more effective than other liquid membrane techniques is applied for transport of Zn(II) has been studied. HCl as the stripping solution and D2EHPA dissolved in kerosene as the membrane solution, has been examined. The effects of stripping solution concentration, carrier concentration, temperature and pH in the feed phase on the transport of Zn(II) have also been investigated. As a result, the optimum transport conditions of Zn(II) were obtained, i.e., the concentration of HCl solution was 0.25 M, the concentration of D2EHPA was $8{\times}10^{-3}M$, and pH value in the donor phase was 5.00. Under the optimum conditions, the transport percentage of Zn(II) was up to >99% during the transport time of 80 min when the initial concentration of Zn(II) was $120mgL^{-1}$. The activation energy is calculated as $5.30kcalmol^{-1}$. The value of calculated activation energy indicates that the process is diffusionally controlled by Zn(II) ions. The experiments have demonstrated that D2EHPA derivative is a good carrier for Zn(II) transport through MDLM in the study.
This paper deals with the evaluation of environmental impact of rail and road transport in South Korea. A framework of energy input-output analysis is employed to estimate the total energy consumption and $CO_2$ emission in acquiring and using a life cycle of passenger and freight transport activity. The reliability of $CO_2$ emission based on uncertainty values is assessed by means of a Monte Carlo simulation. The results show that on a passenger-kilometers basis, passenger roads have life cycle emissions about 1.5 times those of rail, while that ratio is ten times greater when the scope of evaluation regards the tailpipe. In the case of freight transport, on a million ton-kilometers basis, the value for road mode is estimated to be about three times compared to those of rail mode. The results also show that the main contribution of $CO_2$ emission for road transport is the operation stage, accounting for 70%; however, the main contribution for rail transport is the construction and supply chain stage, accounting for over 50% emission.

It is very important to properly understand such "Transport Pathways" elements as "Pipe" and "Cell" pathways in commercial GoldSim Transport Module (GTM) for developing higer quality models and programs for performance assessment of complex radioactive waste repositories. With an illustrative case under an earthquake scenario, by which an increasement in the groundwater flow rate occurs though the geological medium, ways of avoiding possible modeling errors in the nuclide transport modeling in the radioactive waste repository system for its safety assessment by utilizing such pathways are discussed and a proper usage of the pathways is proposed.
A large portion of total energy expenditure associated with ruminant livestock production goes towards maintenance. Approximately 55% of whole body energy use is consumed by visceral tissues (including internal organs) with the majority of this going to the liver and gastrointestinal tract. Muscle and adipose tissues consume about 27% of total body energy expenditure. Metabolic components within the viscera responsible for the majority of energy consumption include ion transport, protein turnover, substrate cycling, and urea synthesis (liver). Within muscle tissue of growing animals ion transport and protein turnover account for most of the energy expenditure. Protein synthesis consumes approximately 23% of whole body energy use and visceral tissues account for proportionally more of whole body protein synthesis than skeletal muscle. Research efforts focused on improving energetic efficiency of the tissues and metabolic mechanisms responsible for the majority of whole animal energy expenditure should provide information leading to more efficient production of an edible product.

To develop operation scenarios of KT-2 tokamak, 3 operation modes(OH, high ${\beta}$ and high bootstrap) deduced from zero dimensional steady-state power balance are examined with TSC(Tokamak Simulation Code) time-dependent transport .ode. Plasma profiles are evaluated self consistently during simulations and plasma shapes are maintained by feedback control on PF coil currents. Simulations show operation modes which are typical of KT-2 expected discharges are compatible with the KT-2 PF system design specifications[1].

A transport container for a 500 kCi tritium storage vessel was developed, which could be used for the transport of metal tritide from Wolsong TRF facility to a disposal site. The structural, thermal, shielding, and confinement analyses were performed for the container in a view of Type B. As a result of structural analysis, the developed container sustained its integrity under normal and accidental conditions. The maximum temperature increase of the inner storage vessel by radiation was evaluated at $134.8^{\circ}C at room temperature. In $800^{\circ}C$ fire test, The thermal barrier of container sustained the inner vessel at $405^{\circ}C after 30 min, which temperature was allowable for the container integrity since maximum design temperature of inner vessel was $550^{\circ}C. In the evaluation of the shielding, the activity of radiation was nearly zero on the outer surface of inner vessel. Consequently the transport container for a 500 kCi tritium was evaluated to pass all the safety tests including accidental condition, so it was concluded that the designed transport container is proper to be used.
