  • The hydraulic hybrid vehicle(HHV) is an application of hydrostatic transmission technology to improve vehicle fuel economy and emissions. A relatively lower energy density of hydraulic accumulator and complicated coordinating operations between two power sources require a special energy management strategy to maximize the fuel saving potential. This paper presents a new type of configuration for parallel HHV to minimize the disadvantages of the hydraulic accumulator, as well as a methodology for developing an energy management strategy tailored specially for PHHV. Based on an analysis of the optimal energy distribution between two power sources over a representative urban driving cycle with a Dynamic Programming(DP) algorithm, a fuzzy-based optimal torque management strategy is designed and developed to control the torque distribution. Simulation results demonstrates that the optimal torque management strategy maximizes the advantages of this hybrid type of configuration, and the high power density characteristics of hydraulic technology effectively improve the robustness of the energy management strategy and fuel economy of the PHHV.

  • A novel vector control strategy for a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) based on the kinetic energy stored in the rotor is proposed in this paper. The novel strategy is composed of two closed loops, in which the current loop is the inner loop, and the kinetic energy serves as the outer loop. The theoretical basis and the design procedure of the two loops are given. The feasibility of the proposed control strategy is verified by experimental results. When compared with traditional vector control strategies, the proposed vector control strategy based on energy feedback has better dynamic performance. In addition, an effective estimation solution for the load variation is put forward.

  • In this study, we studied solar cell and fuel cell. To estimate the technology competitiveness, we used patent analysis using patent information and delphi method. For patent analysis, PII indicating the impact of patent was used. Also to analysis PII, citations data of registered and published patent were used from 2001 through 2010 in the United States, Japan, South Korea and the European Patent Office. And the delphi method results of the 'International trend analysis on the Green Energy Technology and the establishment of international cooperation models(2009)' were cited to estimate the technology level. According to the analysis results, Korea's patent registration growth rate was fairly high, but the patent impact and technology levels were significantly lower than in the United States, Japan and Germany. Especially in the solar cell, United States's PII is 1.8, but Korea's PII is 0.2. And the technology level of United States is 7 to 8, but Korea's is 5 to 6. Therefore, to improve technology competitiveness, Korea need to enhance the core technology R&D, and set up the consumer-oriented R&D strategy for commercialization from R&D planning phase. In this study, we analysed competitiveness of renewable energy which is not actively discussed. But there are limitations of the study because we used the result of past research and patent data in the past 10 years. Therefore to accurate research the period of patent data should be extended. Finally diverse indicators for measuring the technology competitiveness should be researched and developed.

  • The rapid development of both communication traffic and increasing optical network sizes has increased energy consumption. Traditional algorithms and strategies don't apply to controlling the expanded network. Immunization algorithms originated from the complex system theory are feasible for large-scale systems based on a scale-free network model. This paper proposes the immunization strategy for complex systems which includes random and targeted immunizations to solve energy consumption issues and uses traffic to judge the energy savings from the node immunization. The simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed strategy. Furthermore, this paper provides a possibility for saving energy with optical transmission networks.

  • Fault diagnosis depends critically on the selection of sensors monitoring crucial process variables. Boolean network (BN) is composed of nodes and directed edges, where the node state is quantized to the Boolean values of True or False and is determined by the logical functions of the network parameters and the states of other nodes with edges directed to this node. Since BN can describe the fault propagation in a sensor network, it can be applied to propose sensor selection strategy for fault diagnosis. In this article, a sufficient condition for parameter identifiability of BN is first proposed, based on which the sufficient condition for fault identifiability of a sensor network is given. Then, the fault identifiability condition induces a sensor selection strategy for sensor selection. Finally, the theoretical result is applied to the fault diagnosis-oriented sensor selection for a nuclear heating reactor plant, and both the numerical computation and simulation results verify the feasibility of the newly built BN-based sensor selection strategy.

  • This paper proposes an energy management strategy and adaptive control for superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) in a distribution power system with a grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) farm. Application of the SMES system can decrease the output power fluctuations of PV system effectively. Also, it can control the real and reactive powers corresponding to the scheduled reference values with adequate converter capacity, which are required at a steady-state operating point. Therefore, the adaptive control strategy for SMES plays a key role in improving the system stability when the PV generation causes uncertain variations due to weather conditions. The performance of proposed energy management strategy and control method for the SMES is then evaluated with several case studies based on the PSCAD/EMTDC$^{(R)}$ simulation.

  • T-type isolated DC/DC converters have recently attracted attention due to their numerous advantages, including few components, low cost, and symmetrical operation of transformers. This study proposes an improved control strategy for increasing the efficiency of T-type isolated DC/DC converters. Under the proposed strategy, the primary circulating current flows through the auxiliary switches (metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors) instead of their body diodes in free-wheeling periods. Such feature can reduce conduction losses, thereby improving the efficiency of T-type isolated DC/DC converters. The operation principles and performances of T-type isolated DC/DC converters under the proposed control strategy are analyzed in detail and verified through the simulation and experimental results.
