Accordingly, various efforts and policies that can save energy of the building is being performed. The various researchers are conducting research to diagnose the thermal performance of existing buildings. This study is to apply in the field of precision thermal insulation performance diagnostic method for thermal performance analysis of existing detached house in Seoul, Gangreung, Gyeongju, Pohang. And this paper is analyzed quantitatively measure the existing detached house energy performance. Method: Research methodology analyzed the thermal performance over the Heat Flow Meter method by applying the measurement process and method by applying the criteria of ISO 9869-1 & ASTR method. In this study, the surface heat transfer coefficient was calibrated by applying indoor surface heat transfer resistance with reference to ISO 6946 standard. The measurement error rate between the HFM diagnosis method and the ASTR diagnosis method was reduced and the measurement reliability was obtained through measurement method error verification. Result : As a result of the study, the thermal performance vulnerable parts of the building were quantitatively analyzed, and presented for methods which can be improved capable of efficient energy use buildings.

  • Novel optical measurement systems and improved cell configurations for measuring of azimuthal anchoring energies were developed. The difference between the mechanical rubbing direction and the optical easy axis that caused errors in the previous azimuthal anchoring energy measurement was compensated. In addition, the measurement accuracy of the twist angle and therefore the azimuthal anchoring energy was greatly enhanced. As a result, we were able to obtain valid azimuthal anchoring energy values for different alignment layers.

  • This paper presents the efficiency measurement and energy analysis for a parallel HEY. Using the HEV test rig, the efficiency of each powertrain component is measured for a given driving cycle including the regenerative braking system. Accompanied by the efficiency measurements, a detailed energy analysis is performed. Based on the efficiency measurement and energy analysis, a HEV performance simulator is developed. Using the simulator, the HEV performance is evaluated for a mild hybrid system. It is expected that the HEV simulator developed can be used to obtain further optimization potentials.

  • Background: A cargo container scanner using a high-energy X-ray generates a fan beam X-ray to acquire a transmitted image. Because the generated X-rays by LINAC may affect the image quality and radiation protection of the system, it is necessary to acquire accurate information about the generated X-ray beam distribution. In this paper, a diode-based multi-channel spatial dose measuring device for measuring the X-ray dose distribution developed for measuring the high energy X-ray beam distribution of the container scanner is described. Materials and Methods: The developed high-energy X-ray spatial dose distribution measuring device can measure the spatial distribution of X-rays using 128 diode-based X-ray sensors. And precise measurement of the beam distribution is possible through automatic positioning in the vertical and horizontal directions. The response characteristics of the measurement system were evaluated by comparing the signal gain difference of each pixel, response linearity according to X-ray incident dose change, evaluation of resolution, and measurement of two-dimensional spatial beam distribution. Results and Discussion: As a result, it was found that the difference between the maximum value and the minimum value of the response signal according to the incident position showed a difference of about 10%, and the response signal was linearly increased. And it has been confirmed that high-resolution and two-dimensional measurements are possible. Conclusion: The developed X-ray spatial dose measuring device was evaluated as suitable for dose measurement of high energy X-ray through confirmation of linearity of response signal, spatial uniformity, high resolution measuring ability and ability to measure spatial dose. We will perform precise measurement of the X-ray beamline in the container scanning system using the X-ray spatial dose distribution measuring device developed through this research.

  • The accurate measurement of temperature in the ground source heat pump system is crucial for assessing the thermal response of the system and validating the numerical model for parametric study, which is necessary for the thermal performance evaluation of the geothermal energy system. Conventional temperature sensors have some disadvantages such as they are difficult to install, and their position can be shifted during the backfill process of the ground heat exchanger. In this study, Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) sensors were used to measure the temperature change of a recently developed ground heat exchanger (Coil Column Unit, CCU). FBG sensors were first calibrated in a thermal chamber alongside a correlation sensor (RTD sensor). The calibrated sensors were then mounted on the pipe surface at each spiral of the CCU to measure how temperature changes during the in-door mockup thermal response test. Finally, the measurement results of the FBG sensors were verified with a finite element coded program. The results indicated that the temperature difference between the numerical analysis and the experiment was less than 1%, which is significantly lower than that of the previous study using the RTD sensors. Therefore, it is feasible to apply FBG sensors for temperature measurement during the operation of the TRT of the geothermal energy system.

  • In this experiment, we did sampling 6 kinds of photovoltaic modules and analyzed the discrepancy of measurement results between l laboratory and 4 PV makers to have performance repeatability at Standard Test Condition(STC) condition. From the KIER's results, Korea's standard test laboratory, other laboratory showed -10% measurement variation. The causes came from correction of reference cell, test condition and the state of skill. Form the comparison test, we analyzed the problems. But three PV maker reduced measurement variation, other one PV maker and one test laboratory didn't improve the problems of correction of reference cell, test condition and the state of skill. Also, High Efficiency Module had a big discrepancy of -10.0$\sim$-6.2% among 3 laboratories which have a less than 10msec light pulse duration time. This made low spectrum response speed so the Fill Factor decreased maximum output power under 10msec light pulse duration time

  • This article measured and analyzed the indoor radon concentrations at one university building in Gyeongju, Republic of Korea, to investigate if there is any relationship between earthquakes and indoor radon concentration. Since 12 September 2016, when two 5.1 and 5.8 magnitude earthquakes occurred, hundreds of aftershocks affected Gyeongju until January 2017. The measurements were made at the ground floor of the Energy Engineering Hall of Dongguk University in Gyeongju over a period between February 2016 and January 2017. The measurements were made with an RAD7 detector on the basis of the US Environmental Protection Agency measurement protocol. Each measurement was continuously made every 30 minutes over the measurement period every month. Among earthquakes with 2.0 or greater magnitude, the earthquakes whose occurrence timings fell into the measurement periods were screened for further analysis. We observed similar spike-like patterns between the indoor radon concentration distributions and earthquakes: a sudden increase in the peak indoor radon concentration 1-4 days before an earthquake, gradual decrease before the earthquake, and sudden drop on the day of the earthquake if the interval between successive earthquakes was moderately longer, for example, 3 days in this article.

  • In this paper, an experimental study was conducted on the performance of the cooling tower. In order to improve reliability in the cooling tower performance test, the measurement uncertainty of the instrument was estimated. Measurement uncertainty refers to the uncertainty of a measurement, estimates the range in which the expected value of the measurement can be within a certain confidence level, and suggests a range in which the measured representative value is incorrect. Therefore, the measurement result of the performance experiment is not an actual value, but a reasonable estimated value. The measurement uncertainty for the test was calculated and the measured results were presented.
