Greenhouse have been developed to provide the plants with good environmental conditions for cultivation crop, two major factors of which are the inside air temperature and humidity. The inside temperature are influenced by the heating systems, ventilators and for systems among others, which in turn are geverned by some type of controller. Likewise, humidity environment is the result of complex mass exchanges between the inside air and the several elements of the greenhouse and the outside boundaries. Most of the existing models are based on the energy balance method and heat balance equation for modelling the heat and mass fluxes and generating dynamic elements. However, greenhouse are classified as complex system, and need to make a sophisticated modeling. Furthermore, there is a difficulty in using classical control methods for complex process system due to the process are non linear and multi-output(MIMO) systems. In order to predict the time evolution of conditions in certain greenhouse as a function, we present here to use of recurrent neural networks(RNN) which has been used to implement the direct dynamics of the inside temperature and inside humidity of greenhouse. For the training, we used algorithm of a backpropagation Through Time (BPTT). Because the environmental parameters are shared by all time steps in the network, the gradient at each output depends not only on the calculations of the current time step, but also the previous time steps. The training data was emulated to 13 input variables during March 1 to 7, and the model was tested with database file of March 8. The RMSE of results of the temperature modeling was $0.976^{\circ}C$, and the RMSE of humidity simulation was 4.11%, which will be given to prove the performance of RNN in prediction of the greenhouse environment.

Cu(In,Ga)3Se5 (β-CIGS) has a band gap of 1.35 eV, which is an optimum value for high solar-energy conversion efficiency. The effects of Cu and Ga content on the cell performance were investigated previously. However, the effect of Se content on the cell performance is not well understood yet. In this work, β-CIGS films were fabricated by three-stage co-evaporation of elemental sources with various Se fluxes at the third stage instead of at all stages. The average composition of five samples was Cu1.05(In0.59,Ga0.41)3Sey, where the stoichiometric y value is 5.03 and the stoichiometric Se/metal (Se/M) ratio is 1.24. We varied the Se/metal ratio in a range from 1.18 to 1.28. We found that the best efficiency was achieved when the Se/M ratio was 1.24, which is exactly the stoichiometric value where the CIGS grains on the CIGS surface were tightly connected and faceted. With the optimum Se/M ratio, we were able to enhance the cell efficiency of a β-CIGS solar cell from 9.6% to 12.0% by employing a Na2S post deposition treatment. Our results indicate that Na2S post deposition treatment is very effective to enhance the cell efficiency to a level on par with that in α-CIGS cell.
Recurring jets, which are jets ejected from the same site, are a peculiar type among various solar jet phenomena. We report such recurring jets ejecting from the same site above an active region on January 22, 2012 with high-resolution multi-wavelength observations from Solar Dynamics Observatory(SDO). We found that the recurring jets had velocities, lengths and lifetimes, but had similar directions. The visible brightening appeared at the jet base before each jet erupted. All the plasma produced by the recurring jets could not overcome the large coronal loops. It seemed that the plasma ejecting from the jet base was confined and guided by preexisting coronal loops, but their directions were not along the paths of the loops. Two of the jets formed crossing structures with the same preexisting filament. We also examined the photospheric magnetic field at the jet base, and observed a visible flux emergence, convergence and cancellation. The four recurring jets all were associated with the impulsive cancellation between two opposite polarities occurring at the jet base during each eruption. In addition, we suggest that the fluxes, flowing out of the active region, might supply the energy for the recurring jets by examining the SDO/Helioseismic and Magnetic Imager (HMI) successive images. The observational results support the magnetic reconnection model of jets.

Recently, the flux community in Korea established a new regional flux network, so-called KoFlux, which will provide an infrastructure for collecting, synthesizing, and analysing long-term measurements of energy and mass exchange between the atmosphere and the various vegetated surfaces. KoFlux requires the collection of long time series of raw data, and a large amount of data are expected to accumulate due to continuous flux observations at each KoFlux sites. Therefore, we need a systematic and efficient tool to manage these raw data. As a part of this effort, a computer program far processing raw data measured from micrometeorological field experiments was developed for the flux community in Korea. In this paper, we introduce this program for processing raw data to estimate fluxes and other turbulent statistics and explain the micrometeolological processes coded in this data-processing program. Also, we show some examples on how to run the program and handle the outputs for the unique purpose of research interest.

Based on in-situ monitoring data produced by National Institute of Meteorological Sciences, we evaluated the performance of Joint UK Land Environment Simulator (JULES) on the surface energy balance for rice-paddy and cropland in Korea with the operational ancillary data used for Unified Model (UM) Local Data Assimilation and Prediction System (LDAPS) (CTL) and the high-resolution ancillary data from external sources (EXP). For these experiments, we employed the one-year (March 2015~February 2016) observations of eddy-covariance fluxes and soil moisture contents from a double-cropping rice-paddy in BoSeong and a cropland in AnDong. On the rice-paddy site the model performed better in the CTL experiment except for the sensible heat flux, and the latent heat flux was underestimated in both of experiments which can be inferred that the model represents flood-irrigated surface poorly. On the cropland site the model performance of the EXP experiment was worse than that of CTL experiment related to unrealistic surface type fractions. The pattern of the modeled soil moisture was similar to the observation but more variable in time. Our results shed a light on that 1) the improvement of land scheme for the flood-irrigated rice-paddy and 2) the construction of appropriate high-resolution ancillary data should be considered in the future research.

Various factors may contribute on the mixing processes in the surf zone formed by irregular waves. The turbulence motion driven by wave breaking may be one of the major causes, the effect due to spatial variation on current velocity be a secondary one, and the additional process may result from the irregular superposition of radiation stresses or wave breaking dissipation incurred by random breaking waves in a broadened surf zone. In the present study a numerical model of spectral waves and induced currents was developed using a superposition technique with ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$ closure for mixing process and applied to a field situation of longshore current generated by spectral waves on a uniform beach. It was found from the application that the surf-zone mixing processes formed by irregular waves can be well described by using ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$ equations if the source of ${\kappa}$ is properly represented. The nonlinear energy transfer was also found to have some influence on the velocity profile of longshore current particularly in very shallow water region near coast.

$Cu(In,Ga)_3Se_5$ (${\beta}-CIGS$) has a band gap of 1.35 eV which is an optimum value for high solar-energy conversion efficiency. However, ${\beta}-CIGS$ film was not well characterized yet due to lower efficiency compared to $Cu(In,Ga)Se_2$ (${\alpha}-CIGS$). In this work, ${\beta}-CIGS$ films were fabricated by a three-stage co-evaporation of elemental sources with various Se fluxes. As the Se flux increased, the crystallinity of ${\beta}-CIGS$ phase was improved from the analysis of Raman spectroscopy and a deep-level defect was reduced from the analysis of photoluminescence spectroscopy. A Se treatment of the ${\beta}-CIGS$ film at $200^{\circ}C$ increased Ga content and decreased Cu content at the surface of the film. With the Se treatment at $200^{\circ}C$, the cell efficiency was greatly improved for the CIGS films prepared with low Se flux due to the increase of short-circuit current and fill factor. It was found that the main reason of performance improvement was lower Cu content at the surface instead of higher Ga content.

Eddy covariance method is widely used in measuring vertical fluxes of mass and energy between the atmosphere and the biosphere. In this method, scalar concentration is measured with either open-path or closed-path sensors. For the latter, fluctuations of scalar concentration are attenuated as the sample travels through a long tube, resulting in flux loss. To quantify this tube attenuation, water vapor concentrations measured with both closed-path and open-path sensors were analyzed. Our statistical analysis showed that the power spectral density obtained from the closed-path sensor was different from that from the open-path sensor in the frequency range of > 0.5 Hz. The loss of water vapor flux due to tube attenuation was < 5% during midday. At nighttime, however, the flux loss increased significantly because of the low wind speeds and the weak turbulence sources. Theoretical calculation for the tube attenuation showed a small bias in high frequency range probably because of the interaction of sticky water vapor with a tube wall.
In this study, impurity effects on diffusive-convection flow fields by physical vapor transport under terrestrial and microgravity conditions were numerically analyzed for the mixture of $Hg_2Cl_2-I_2$ system. The numerical analysis provides the essence of diffusive-convection flow as well as heat and mass transfer in the vapor phase during the physical vapor transport through velocity vector flow fields, streamlines, temperature, and concentration profiles. The total molar fluxes at the crystal regions were found to be much more sensitive to both the gravitational acceleration and the partial pressure of component $I_2$ as an impurity. Our results showed that the solutal effect tended to stabilize the diffusive-convection flow with increasing the partial pressure of component $I_2$. Under microgravity conditions below $10^{-3}g_0$, the flow fields showed a one-dimensional parabolic flow structure indicating a diffusion-dominant mode. In other words, at the gravitational levels less than $10^{-3}g_0$, the effects of convection would be negligible.
The ocean's response to the Pinatubo and 1259 volcanic eruptions was investigated using an ocean general circulation model equipped with an energy balance model. Volcanic eruptions release gases into the atmosphere which increases the aerosol optical depth and acts to reduce the incoming short-wave radiation. For example, there was a huge volcanic eruption (Pinatubo) in 1991 which reduced the global mean radiative forcing by about 3 W $m^{-2}$. Two numerical experiments were simulated. The first experiment features the Pinatubo eruption and the second experiment simulates the much larger volcanic eruption that occurred in 1259 when the radiative forcing was reduced by 7 times compared to the Pinatubo event. With the reduced radiative forcing due to the Pinatubo eruption at about 3 W $m^{-2}$ and 1259 eruption at about 21 W $m^{-2}$, the global mean sea surface temperature (SST) decreased to its lowest in the second year after each event by about $0.4^{\circ}C$ and $1.6^{\circ}C$, respectively. Sea surface salinity (SSS) increased substantially in the northern North Pacific, northern North Atlantic, and the Southern Ocean. The reduced SST together with SSS increased ocean convection, which yielded an increase in North Atlantic Deep Water, Antarctic Bottom Water, and North Pacific Intermediate Water production and their outflows. The increase in overturning circulation eventually increased the pole-ward ocean heat fluxes. In conclusion, huge volcanic eruptions perturb the ocean substantially and their hallmarks last for more than a decade, confirming the importance of volcanic eruptions in illustrating the decadal-climate variability recorded in the paleoclimate proxy data for the past million years.
