This paper presents a software for cost-effectiveness evaluation of DSM programs (Dsm-Lite). The presented software can help the users to analyze the energy consumptions and peak reductions of DSM programs, evaluate the cost effectiveness for TRC and RIM, and identify the benefits and the costs for each Test. The Dsm-Lite software can also provide the effective information on avoided costs, electric rates, and rebates by year etc.

The aim of this study to propose an efficient method in selecting the type of new and renewable energy applied in at the planning phase of buildings. This study applied geothermal energy facilities with high adaptability to buildings. This study considered the energy reduction and reduced cost by comparing the values with the energy consumption before applying of geothermal energy facilities. In order to propose more reliable criteria of economic evaluation, maintenance costs reflecting the replacement cycles and initial construction costs by drawings and specifications for installation facilities for practical geothermal energy based on construction statement for life-cycle cost analysis. The results will help to effectively select economic types of facilities for new and renewable energy of the planning phase of buildings.
More people have become interested in hybrid vehicles - which have been heralded as environmentally friendly automobiles - recently as the opening of domestic hybrid vehicle market draws near. Since gasoline, diesel and LPG hybrid vehicles will be produced, a need exists to conduct economic feasibility study of each vehicle type. This research analyzed projected benefits of these hybrid vehicles based on the 1600cc model. There are two categories of benefits: 1) reduced fuel costs for the owners of the vehicles; and 2) reduced environmental pollution cost. We conducted a sensitivity analysis and estimated the domestic consumer fuel costs based on the international oil prices of 100USD, 150USD, and 200USD per barrel. The analysis showed savings of 2 to 4 million Won in fuel cost and 1 to 2 million Won in environmental pollution cost; therefore, the hybrid vehicles are not economically feasible if they are between 3 to 5 million Won more expensive than the conventional internal combustion engine vehicles.
This paper analyses the economics of grid-connected photovoltaic systems. With the 2003 cost of photovoltaic systems, under prevailing capital market conditions, with a system lifetime of 30 years, and under the best climatic conditions, it appears that the cost of production of grid-connected electricity could be of 0.21 US $/kWh, and under medium climatic conditions, European locations, Switzerland, Japan and South Korean could be of 0.28$/kWh. If the lifetime if the system goes up, due to future technological improvements, to a very large value such as 50 years, these costs can be lowered by 10-20%. Competitiveness of grid-connected photovoltaic electricity, while it still cannot be taken for granted, is a possibility, especially if major technological advances further lowers the costs of photo cells and increases their lifetimes.

The solar cells and fuel cells power are being encouraged to reduce the environmental pollution and combat the global warming. And the electric generation hybrid system is usually more reliable and less costly than the systems that use a single source of energy. HOMER provides a platform to design and simulate the power system and then to choose the optimization results. Based on the electricity demand conditions during a year, this paper simulates with the HOMER and performs the monthly average electrical production and the most feasible economical case includes the net present costs and the annualized costs of the hybrid system components.
This study conducted an analysis of economic feasibility with unit generating costs calculated based on scenarios of capacity factors, discount rates, government supporting rates, installation costs. However, It Is clear that few new and renewable energies can meet the tariffs [government purchasing prices] set by the government in light of the current market reality. Without the government support, solar PV is not economically feasible at the tariff of \716.40/kWh. in the case of wind Power, the current tariff of \107.66/kWh is not enough to make it competitive except for a mid- and large-scale wind farm The analysis showed that even small hydro is not economically acceptable at the current tariff of \73.69/kWh.

Biomass is one of the most competitive renewable energy resource and can be used for heating for rural applications. A economic assessment was made of biomass heating, using the tool BIOH2000 from $RETScreen^{\circledR}$ International Clean Energy Decision Support Centre. For a 260kW heating system for 50 farm houses, the assessment showed a very promising results. Internal rate of return was $19.7\%$ and year-to-positive cash flow was 5.1 years. Relative price of biomass over fossil fuel significantly affected the economic feasibility of the project. Heating demand was directly related to annual demand of biomass and economic feasibility. Relative cost of distribution pipe over the total initial costs also affected the economic feasibility of the project. The economic feasibility was expected to be improved by the probable greenhouse emission reduction credit and reduction of initial costs through utilizing existing heating system for peak or back up heating system.

Energy costs for operating and cooling computing resources in Cloud infrastructure have increased significantly up to the point where they would surpass the hardware purchasing costs. Thus, reducing the energy consumption can save a significant amount of management cost. One of major approach is removing hardware over-provisioning. In this paper, we propose a technique that facilitates power saving through reducing resource over provisioning based on virtualization technology. To this end, we use dynamic workload shaping to reschedule and redistribute job requests considering overall power consumption. In this paper, we present our approach to shape workloads dynamically and distribute them on virtual machines and physical machines through virtualization technology. We generated synthetic workload data and evaluated it in simulating and real implementation. Our simulated results demonstrate our approach outperforms to when not using no workload shaping methodology.

We can efficiently collect crops or minerals by operating multi-robot foraging. As foraging spaces become wider, control algorithms demand scalability and reliability. Swarm robotics is a state-of-the-art algorithm on wide foraging spaces due to its advantages, such as self-organization, robustness, and flexibility. However, high initial and operating costs are main barriers in performing multi-robot foraging system. In this paper, we propose a novel method to improve the energy efficiency of the system to reduce operating costs. The idea is to employ a new behavior model regarding role division in concert with the search space division.
The costs of installation, loss, and energy not supplied energy for submarine cable of offshore wind power plant (OWPP) are very high because the level of technology is still in the early stage as well as because of the marine environments. Therefore, reducing the total costs of a grid network for OWPPs is very important for financial feasibility. In particular, it is needed to minimize the project cost for optimizing the grid design and offshore substation location of a OWPP. The suggested method can reduce the total system cost and make it lower compared with existing methods.
