  • Recently, the environmental conservation has been emphasized over the world. Building industry should carefully reflected the development focused on the economic aspect as well as the environmental considerations. Therefore, it requires the technology development to mitigate the environmental pollution through the reducement of the energy and resources usage amount over the building life cycle. For these, it should be required to set up the analysis methodology to grasp the amount of the environmental pollution and energy and resources in each step of building life cycle. In this paper, it aimed at preparing the analysis process and analyzing the embodied energy and $CO_2$ and $SO_x$ emission according to the building work, field work, mechanical and electrical work on the new building and remodelling, utilizing the inventory analysis which is one of the LCA process.

Current Status of Passive Solar Building Applications in the Republic of Korea

  • In the past few years, the subject of passive heating has been the major area of our concern due to the specific climate conditions prevailing in our region. More recently, however, other important issues such as retrofitting, passive cooling, optimized integration of conservation and passive solar, and daylighting have emerged as the areas of frequent discussions. KIER, the sole R&D organization in solar energy technologies, has accomplished significant results in passive building designs and actual demonstrations of experimental passive buildings. As a result of such endeavor by KIER, the passive solar buildings have been very well received by the Korean public. The current number of passive solar buildings in Korea is well over 1,600 (as of Dec. 1986). In this paper, broad aspects of the present status of passive solar technology utilization in Korea are presented.

고밀도 내부부하 중심 건물의 에너지 절약적 공조방식에 대한 연구 (Viability of HVAC System for Energy Conservation in High Density Internal-load Dominated Buildings)

  • With the advancement of technology, the density of IT equipment, heat load and power consumption continue to increase in high density internal-load dominated buildings as datacenters. To improve the HVAC system's energy performance and efficiency, there is a need to find methods of using outside air. Through cooling tower control that is based on outside wet-bulb temperature, the water-side economizer made it possible to achieve a maximum energy performance improvement of about 16.6% over the basic chilled water system, whereas the air-side economizer, through control based on outdoor air enthalpy, made it possible to achieve about 42.4% improvement.

Genetic diversity, structure analysis and relationship in soybean mutants as revealed by TRAP marker

  • Mutation breeding by radiation is useful for improving various crop species. Up to now, a total of 170 soybean mutant varieties have been released in the world, which is the second most registered varieties after rice. Despite the economic importance of soybean, there have been no TRAP marker system studies on genetic relationships between/among mutant lines. To develop a strategy of Mutant Diversity Pool (MDP) conservation, a study on the genetic diversity of 210 soybean mutant lines (8 cultivars and 202 mutants) was performed through a TRAP analysis. Sixteen primer combinations amplified a total of 551 fragments. The highest (84.00%) and lowest (32.35%) polymorphism levels were obtained with primers MIR157B + Ga5 and B14G14B + Ga3, respectively. The mean PIC values 0.15 varied among the primer combination ranging from 0.07 in B14G14B + Sal2 to 0.23 in MIR157B + Sa4. Phylogenetic, principal component analysis (PCA) and structure analysis indicated that the 210 lines belong to four groups based on the 16 combination TRAP markers. AMOVA showed 21.0% and 79.0% variations among and within the population, respectively. Overall, the genetic similarity of each cultivar and its mutants were higher than within other mutant populations. Our results suggest that the TRAP marker system may be useful for assessing the genetic diversity among soybean mutants and help to improve our knowledge of soybean mutation breeding.

  • 에너지가 국가경쟁력의 중요 원동력이 됨에 따라 정부 각 부처 민간에 이르기까지 에너지를 절감하고자 노력하고 있다. 본 연구는 편복도형 아파트 출입 개방부에 대해서 창호를 설치하여 복도부분의 창이 있을 때와 없을 때를 구분하여 에너지소요량을 비교하고 평가하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이런 개선과정에 대해 에너지 사용실태를 조사하고 개선 전, 후를 시뮬레이션통해 에너지소요량을 비교하고 분석하여 정부의 그린리모델링 사업 방향에 조금이나마 도움이 되었으면 한다.

High-Performance Buildings 구현을 위한 신기술 연구 동향 및 에너지 절감 효과 평가 (Review of New Technologies' Energy Conservation Rate in High-Performance Buildings)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the energy performance by applying new technologies for passive and active control. Method: We selected new technologies for passive and active control which are based on formal study by analyzing technology applied to the High-Performance Buildings in various countries. Also, we analyzed energy saving potential for each technologies by breakdown the result of the energy saving rates in detail. Result: For the wall and roof insulating methods, preceding studies showed that up to 21% energy could be saved by improving roof insulation and applying proper outside insulation compared to non-insulation. For the windows and glazing system, preceding studies showed that Low-E glazing system could save up to 11% energy compared to single glazing system. Studies about solar and daylighting controls revealed that effective daylighting dimming control could save 13% of energy compared to uncontrolled situation. Studies on DOAS (Dedicated Outdoor Air System) showed that about 23% energy could be saved compared to standard VAV system. Studies on the active chilled beam showed that about 25% energy could be saved compared to standard VAV system and studies of applying UFAD (Under Floor Air Distribution) could consume 31% less energy than applying overhead system.

  • This paper presents conservation of electrical energy in building with harmonics analysis and compensation which occur in electrical system. We use load controlling and management system in order to adjust load factor of system.The maximum demand limiting and controlling are used ,then the system can acquire the prediction and compare it to the maximum demand set point.The electrical signal analysis based on FFT technique. The harmonics are compensated by using harmonic filters.This system consists computer which works as controller, processor , analysis and database unit together with digital power meter in form of multidrop network through serial communication via RS-485.The load control system uses PLC to control load via serial communication RS-485. The A/D converter is used for sampling the electrical signals via parallel port of computer.The harmonic filters are controlled by a computer.The data of measurement such as voltage, current, power, power factor, total harmonic distortion, energy, etc., can be saved as database and analysis. The load factor is adjusted by limiting and controlling maximum demand. The load factor adjustment can reduce the cost of electric consumption and energy generation together with harmonics compensation in order to increase high efficiency of electrical system.

  • The green building is one of biggest factors to go the goal of energy saving and environmental conservation, reduction of energy consumption, friendly energy technology, recycling of resource, and environmental pollution reduction technology. The purpose of these green buildings realized by the energy-saving technology such as the exterior materials or curtain wall system. The curtain wall system is a element that come to insulated portions of building envelope that results in heat loss. The purpose of this paper is to carried out mock-up tests for exterior wall used in autoclaved lightweight concrete panels in green building practices. Mock-up test execute a mixed process between standard test procedure and complex test procedure based on AAMA 501(American Society for Testing and Materials) and ASTM 283, ASTM 330(American Society for Testing and Materials). In results, tests meet the requirements that grant values in steps of procedures provided on ASTM and AAMA. ALC panel is suitable for a exterior wall product to be gratified thermal cycling performance and structural capacity, deflection(H/200) and lateral displacement(H/50), for curtain walls.

집단에너지산업의 국민경제적 파급효과 분석 (The Economic Effects of Integrated-Energy Business : An Input-Output Analysis)

  • 정부는 에너지 절약시책의 일환으로 제1,2차 석유파동 후 1983년에 목동신시가지에 집단에너지 사업을 도입하였다. 이후 집단에너지산업의 공급규모는 꾸준히 증가추세를 보이고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 2009년도 산업연관표에 근거한 투입산출분석을 이용하여 집단에너지산업의 국민경제적 파급효과를 분석하고자 한다. 수요유도형 모형을 이용하여 집단에너지산업에서의 생산 혹은 투자가 다른 산업에 미치는 영향에 대하여 논의한다. 공급유도형 모형을 적용하여 집단에너지산업에서의 공급지장이 다른 산업에 미치는 효과에 대해 살펴본다. 레온티에프 가격모형을 이용하여 집단에너지산업의 가격 변동이 다른 산업의 산출물 가격에 미치는 영향에 대해 검토한다. 특히 집단에너지산업을 중심에 놓고 이를 외생화하여 분석하는 접근방법을 취했다. 분석 결과를 요약하자면, 집단에너지산업은 낮은 생산유발효과, 높은 공급지장효과, 낮은 물가파급효과, 낮은 전방연쇄효과, 낮은 후방연쇄효과를 가진다. 이러한 정량적 정보는 집단에너지산업을 위한 정책결정에 있어서 유용하게 활용될 수 있다.

수질평가지수를 이용한 시화호 내측 및 외측 해역의 시·공간적 수질 변화 평가: 조력발전소 가동에 따른 영향 연구 (Evaluation of Spatial and Temporal Variations of Water Quality in Lake Shihwa and Outer Sea by Using Water Quality Index in Korea: A Case Study of Influence of Tidal Power Plant Operation)

  • 인공호수인 시화호 유역은 우리나라에서 가장 고도로 산업화가 진행되고 있는 지역 중 하나이며 현재 조력발전소 가동으로 인한 수질변화가 예상되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 2011~2012년 동안 총 14회에 거쳐 시화호 내 외측의 투명도, 저층 용존산소 포화도, 용존무기인, 용존무기질소 및 클로로필-a의 조사결과를 개정된 수질평가기준(수질평가지수, WQI)에 적용하여 시화호 주변해역의 시 공간적 수질변화 특성과 조력발전소 가동에 따른 수질개선 효과를 평가하였다. 수질평가지수는 시화호 내측의 산업단지 주변과 외측의 하수처리장 방류구 주변에서 상대적으로 높았으며 각각 시화방조제와 외해역으로 갈수록 감소하는 수평분포 특성을 나타내었다. 시화호 내 외측의 수질은 주로 시화호 유역의 산업지역, 도심지역 및 농촌지역에 산재하는 비점오염유출과 하수처리장 방류에 큰 영향을 받고 있는 것을 알 수 있었다. 시화호 내측 수질평가지수는 2011년 평균 53.0(IV 등급, 나쁨)에서 2012년 평균 42.8(III 등급, 보통)로 큰 폭으로 감소하였다. 조력발전소 가동이 해수교환량을 증가시켜 저층 빈산소 환경이 약화되어 시화호 수질이 크게 개선된 것으로 나타났다. 시화호 외측 수질평가지수는 2011년과 2012년 각각 37.4와 35.3으로 모두 보통(III 등급)의 수질상태를 보여 조력발전소 가동 이후 내측 해수의 외측 방류에 의한 수질 오염은 없는 것으로 판단된다. 그러나 군집분석 결과, 산업단지 주변의 시화호 상류지역은 조력발전소 가동을 통한 수질개선 효과가 미미한 것으로 나타났으며, 강우가 집중되는 여름철에 수질이 악화되고 있어 시화호 전체 수질을 개선시키기 위해서는 하천이나 우수토구를 통한 비점오염물질 관리 및 저감대책이 시급한 것으로 판단된다.
