  • This study was carried out to help the comprehensive rehabilitation of spinal cord injuries by measuring propulsion force and endurance exerted on wheelchair handrims, and predicting the differences among three different rear axle positions. The BTE (Baltimore Therapeutic Exerciser) work simulator was used on 9 paraplegia to test the force and endurance during wheelchair propulsion. The 141 large wheel of the BTE work simulator and a standard wheelchair with removed handrims were used for simulating wheelchair propulsion. The neurological and demographical characteristics of the patients were collected by personal interviews and direct examinations. The Kruskal-Wallis test was used to compare force and endurance among the groups. The strongest maximum isometric strength was produced when the rear axle of the wheelchair and the acromion process were on the same coronal plane. Although there were no significant differences statistically, moving the rear axle forward did result in greater isotonic strength. The research suggests that better functional activity of persons with paraplegia is possible when the rear axle of the wheelchair is appropriately adjusted.

  • The lightness of components required on marine and shipbuilding industry is requiring high strength of components. In particular, fatigue failure phenomena, which happen in metal, bring on danger in human life and property. Therefore, antifatigue failure technology takes an important part on current industries. In this study, it is investigated about endurance and fatigue crack propagation rate of according to welding methods such as SMAW, FCAW and SAW commonly used for welding structures in present. Endurance limits carried out highly in the order of SMAW, FCAW, SAW and fatigue crack propagation rate out lowly in the order of SMAW, FCAW, SAW. By these results, it is needed to use SMAW welding method for welding structures with small welding capacity and FCAW, SAW methods for large welding structures after consideration about economic gains and operation efficiency of welding. Fatigue crack propagation rate is more affected by strength of welding materials than endurance limit of welding materials according to welding methods.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to verify the impact of the time that the sitting posture is maintained on changes in muscle performance and head alignment. Methods: The subjects of this study were healthy adults aged between 20 and 30 years. Ninety-three subjects participated in this study (male: 57, female: 36). The subjects were divided into a one-hour group, a two-hour group, and a three-hour group. All the subjects adjusted the height of their chair to a comfortable position and then seat for one, two, or over three hours. Both prior to and after the experiment, the muscle performance (muscle strength, endurance, and flexibility) of the subjects was measured. Results: In the 2-hours and 3-hour group, muscle strength, flexibility and endurance reduced significantly before and after the study, and the head alignment significantly changed. Conclusion: Thease findings showed that sitting continuously for longer than two hours decreases muscle strength, endurance, and flexibility. A flexed posture affects the muscle performance of the lumbar region and may result in problematic postures, such as a forward head position.

  • In order to investigate the effect of an 8-week elastic band exercise program according to age on the isokinetic strength and dynamic equilibrium of the knee, 10 women under 49 years old and 10 women over 50 years old were selected. Dynamic equilibrium was measured through Y-Balance test one week before the exercise program, and power and endurance were confirmed by measuring isokinetic muscle strength of the knee. After measurement, small tool exercise was performed for 8 weeks. After 8 weeks of exercise, isokinetic muscle strength and dynamic equilibrium were measured. As a result, isokinetic muscle strength, which checks muscle strength and muscular endurance, increased after measurement than before measurement regardless of age, and dynamic equilibrium increased after measurement rather than before measurement, and the group under 49 years of age was higher than the group over 50 years old. We think that small tool exercise improves isokinetic muscle strength and is effective in neuromuscular development, improving dynamic stability ability, which is an important factor in preventing falls.

  • In this study, it was investigated about endurance limit and fatigue behavior of load carrying fillet welded cruciform joints according to welding methods of SMAW, SAW, MIG and FCAW commonly using for welding structures in present. Endurance limit carried omit highly in the order of SMAW, MIG, SAW, FCAW and fatigue crack propagation ratio carried out lowly in the order of SMAW, MIG, FCAW, SAW. • Purpose : Patients with Parkionson's disease have a temporal and spatial restriction for their's exercise treatment. The aim of this study is to verify the effectiveness of e-exercise program on balance, gait, and endurance ability in people with Parkinson's disease. Methods : Eighteen participants, with Parkinson's disease that ranged from stage to on the Hoehn & Yahr scale, were assigned to two group. Two group were divided into on-line group that exercised in home by computer video, and off-line group that exercised in clinical center. Exercise program that included 3 sections (warm-up, main exercise, cool down)-5 parts(stretch, strength, balance, gait, stretch) was used to train for participants. We used the functional reach test for balance ability, timed up and go test for gait ability, 6 minute walking test for endurance ability. Wilkoxon sign lank tests were used to assess the difference of balance, gait, and endurance ability in pre-and post test each groups. Mann-whitney tests were used to assess the difference of balance, gait, and endurance ability between groups. Results : Wilkoxon sign lank tests revealed that both group were improved the balance, gait and endurance agility by e-exercise program intervention. Mann-whitney tests showed that there were no differences between groups in the variation of balance, gait, endurance ability. Conclusion : We believe that exercise program with on-line(e-exercise program) is an effective intervention for people with Parkinson's disease and is no different than off-line exercise group in the variation of balance, gait, endurance ability.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify cervical stabilized exercise and joint mobilization, the difference between them, and the maximum muscle strength and static muscle endurance of each group after the enforcement to general people. Cervical joint mobilization group refers to interarticular exercise (traction, pressure, glide) using with Kaltenborn technique. 3 classes were divided into 20 people each, cervical joint mobilization and stabilized exercise, and the comparison groups were randomized for the study. Both cervical stabilized exercise and joint mobilization increased maximum muscle strength and static muscle endurance. Patients should be able improve muscle stabilization and deep cervical muscle by using joint mobilization when the patient is unable to exercise on their own.

  • This study evaluated soccer-specific fitness early and late season to check the conditioning status of K3 league soccer players. Evaluation factors included body composition, agility, quickness, endurance and isokinetic limb muscle strength. As a result, the factors that showed improvement in the late season were skeletal muscle mass, agility and quickness, and body composition, endurance and isokinetic limb muscle strength were not different from each other. The factors that showed improvement in the second half of the season are thought to be due to the learning effect of repetitive training, competition participation during the season. Lastly, endurance and lower extremity strength did not show improvement in the second half of the season due to the fact that no specific training was performed during the season. Taken together, it is necessary to periodically check the fitness status of athletes to develop and apply a fitness training program suitable for competition, transition and preparation period.
