Objective: Elevated cholesterol levels contribute to changes of the arterial endothelial permeability. Hyperlipidemia promotes atherosclerosis and is associated with an increased risk of stroke incidence. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of having a history of hyperlipidemia prior to a stroke incidence on postural balance, anticipatory dynamic postural control, gait endurance and gait performance in individuals with hemiparetic stroke. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: Fifty-two adults who were diagnosed with stroke 6 months ago or more were enrolled in this study. They were divided into two different groups according to hyperlipidemia history before stroke. All participants were assessed with the Activities-specific into Balance Confidence (ABC) scale, Berg Balance scale (BBS), Dynamic Gait Index (DGI), Timed Up and Go test (TUG), and the 6-minute walk test (6MWT). An independent t-test was used to analyze the difference between the hyperlipidemia group and non-hyperlipidemia group. Results: After analysis, the BBS, TUG, and 6MWT scores were significantly different between the hyperlipidemia and non-hyperlipidemia group, but not the ABC and DGI scores. Conclusions: The results of this study show that having a history of hyperlipidemia before stroke affects static and dynamic postural balance performance, anticipatory dynamic postural balance, and gait endurance in individuals with chronic hemiparetic stroke. Based on the results of this study, we also suggest treatment for hyperlipidemia should be implemented throughout the therapeutic interventions, such as pharmacological or exercise programs, in order to restore the physical function of stroke survivors.

This study was conducted to compare the muscle strength, muscle power, and H/Q ratio according to energy system contribution in athletes participating in various sports. Subjects of the study were assigned into an Anaerobic Exercise Group (AEG, n=60; Short-Distance, Weight Lifting, Jumping, Throwing, Bowling, Golf) and an Endurance Exercise Group (EEG, n=60; Modern Pentathlon, Field Hockey, Handball, Cycle, Boxing, Rowing) groups. Isokinetic peak torque/body weight% and flexor/extensor ratio at 60, 180 deg/sec of knee extension and flexion were measured using an cybex 770. Data analysis was conducted using an independent t-test and one-way ANOVA. Based on the results of this study, there was higher extension, flexion strength and flexion power in the AEG than the EEG (p<0.05). We also confirmed higher muscle strength and muscle power in short distance and jumping athletes than other athletes participating in other events (p<0.05). However, there was no significant difference within the endurance exercise group. The HS ratio was within a stable range of 50% to 60% in all events. Collectively, the outcomes of this study indicate that routine physiological and performance testing can provide measurable benefits for elite athletes and their coaches.

The study was conducted to analyze the effect of Playing Exercise Program on body composition and physical fitness on mentally handicapped. The subjects participated research were 12 male and 7 female who were mentally handicapped. P.E.P. was applied once a week for 120 minutes in total for 10 weeks. Pre-Post test for body composition (weight, body fat percentage, body fat mass, muscle mass, cell mass) and Physical Fitness (muscular endurance, strength; hand strength, back strength, flexibility; trunk flexion forward) were conducted to analyze the effects. For obtaining the statistics, SPSS 18.0 was used and mean and standard deviation were calculated. T-test was performed to differentiate performance ability and to compare the effect of P.E.P. on body composition and physical fitness for 10 weeks and the statistical level of significance was set to p<.05. The result obtained showed significant difference for only muscle mass in body composition variable. Moreover when analyzing physical fitness variable, there were significant differences in back strength, grasping left and right hand, trunk flexion forward and muscular endurance. Therefore, it can be concluded that the P.E.P. was effective for mentally handicapped. And the program can be utilized as effective energy consumption program and can contribute to preventing adult diseases.
The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of a 10-week body stability exercise program, which was conducted on 24 male football players. The result of the Visual Response Speed Test using BlazePod, showed a significant increase of the upper arms, left foot and right foot for 15 second in number of reactions and reaction time (p<0.001). As a result of evaluating whether or not 7 functional movements were improved in order to evaluate the functional movement screen, Hurdle Step (p=0.001) and Active Straight Leg Rise (p=0.022) movements were significantly improved. significantly improved. As a result of measuring the y-balance Test in order to evaluate the balance ability, composite score(p<0.001) of both sides was significantly improved. The result of evaluating vital capacity, which was conducted to evaluate mobility and muscle endurance, showed a significant improvement in Forced vital capacity(p<0.001) and Forced expiratory volume in 1.0(p=0.003). In conclusion, a 10-week BSE program intervention in high school period, which can most improve the technical fitness necessary for the game in power, agility, leg strength, leg stability, mobility, and muscle endurance, will improve overall technical fitness, prevent football players from being injured and enhance their performance.

Materials as strong as graphite and thermoplastic can be used to produce these composites that include both fiber and filament. Polyamide is a thermoplastic typically used in composites as a matrix. In today's manufacturing process, materials are made more flexible, structurally more vital, and lighter. This paper discusses the production, testing, and structural analysis of a new polyamide/Multi-walled carbon nanotube nanocomposite. This polyamide can be a suitable substitute for other composite materials in the tennis racket frame. By compression polymerization, polyamide was synthesized. The functionalization of Multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) was achieved using sulfuric acid and nitric acid, followed by ultrasonic preparation of nanocomposite materials with weight percentages of 5, 10, and 15. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) confirmed a synthesized nanocomposite structure. Nanocomposites were tested for thermal resistance using the simultaneous thermal analysis (DTA-TG) method. scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis was used to determine pores' size, structure, and surface area. An X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) analysis was used to determine their amorphous nature.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of different types of exercise training on ẞ-Amyloid, Brain-Derived Nerurotrophic Factor(BDNF) and cognitive function in mice with Diabetes Mellitus Group(DM.G). 24 male C57BL/6 mice were randomly assigned to the control (C.G. n = 6) and Diabetes Mellitus Group(DM.G. n = 18) groups. After the Diabetes Mellitus induction period, the DM group was subdivided into DM.G. + sedentary (DM.G., n = 6), DM.G. + endurance exercise (A.G, n = 6), and DM.G. + resistance exercise (R.G., n = 6). The A.G. and R.G performed treadmill and ladder climbing exercises 5 times per week for 8 weeks, respectively. After 8 weeks the results are as follows: ẞ-Amyloid showed higher levels of DM.G. than in A.G., R.G., and C.G., but was not statistically significant(p>.05). BDNF was significantly lower in DM.G. than in C.G., A.G., and R.G.(p <0.05). The Y-maze task performance for cognitive function was significantly lower in DM.G. than in C.G., A.G., and R.G.(p <0.05). These results predict that diabetes can negatively affect ẞ-Amyloid, BDNF and cognitive function. It can also be predicted that low-intensity exercise can positively improve ẞ-Amyloid, BDNF and cognitive function regardless of the type of exercise.
The present study was performed to analyze and review the physical and immune responses to overtraining syndrome in humans. Overreaching refers to the initial phage of overtraining syndrome and has been known as a physical fatigue which is mainly from metabolic imbalance. It has been known that overtraining also results in a loss of adaptability which may lead to an attenuation of exercise performance, sleeping disorder, central fatigue, neurohormonal changes, difficulty recovery to physical stress, and immunological changes. Additionally, overtraining syndrome is characterized by persistent fatigue, poor performance in sport due to the prolonged and strenuous physical training. Also, previous studies reported that endurance athletes experienced a high incidence of URTI during intense training and the post training. And also, high-performance athletes reported that suppression of cell mediated and anti-body mediated immune function. NK cell numbers were also reduced in the period of overtraining syndrome. Major components of prevention and treatment for the overtraining syndrome are screening, education, and detraining. Furthermore, the combination of these prevention and treatment strategies will be much helpful. Therefore, the current review will be helpful for athletes and individuals who are at the risk of overtraining syndrome.
[Purpose] The aim of this review was to discuss the effects of vitamin D on physical performance and musculoskeletal injuries in athletes and provide information on the field applications of vitamin D. [Methods] A systematic review was conducted to identify studies on vitamin D in athletes that assessed serum vitamin D levels, vitamin D and physical performance, vitamin D and musculoskeletal injuries, and practical guidelines for supplementation of vitamin D. [Results] Several studies reported that a high proportion of athletes had vitamin D insufficiency or deficiency. Low serum levels of vitamin D in athletes were more pronounced in winter than in other seasons, and indoor athletes had lower serum vitamin D levels than outdoor athletes. Low vitamin D levels have been demonstrated to have negative effects on muscle strength, power, and endurance; increase stress fractures and other musculoskeletal injuries; and affect acute muscle injuries and inflammation following high-intensity exercises. Therefore, periodic assessment and monitoring of vitamin D levels are necessary in athletes; the recommended serum level of 25(OH)D is > 32 ng/mL and the preferred level is > 40 ng/mL (-1). In those with low levels of vitamin D, exposure to sunlight and an improved diet or supplements may be helpful. Particularly, 2000-6000 IU of supplemental vitamin D3 can be consumed daily. [Conclusion] Vitamin D is a potential nutritional factor that can significantly affect physical performance and musculoskeletal injuries in athletes. The importance and role of vitamin D in athletes should be emphasized, and the current levels of vitamin D should be assessed. Therefore, it is essential to periodically evaluate and monitor serum vitamin D levels in athletes.

The purpose of this study is the effects of 12 weeks complex training using swiss ball and elastic band on senior fitness and sarcopenia index in elderly women. The subject of this study was classified into exercise group (n=13) and control group (n=14). EG were carrier exercise program with swiss-ball and elastic band by 3 times a week, 3sets, RPE 11-13, and 60 minute. Test variables of among this study, senior fitness which is muscle strength, endurance, flexibility and dynamic balance and age-related sarcopenia index were muscle strength, muscle mass and short physical performance battery (SPPB). The results of this study were not significantly improvement at muscle strength, cardiopulmonary and flexibility but dynamic balance was significantly difference. And SPPB were significantly difference. In conclusion, the complex whole body training had positive effects on dynamic balance and SPPB of the elderly women.
With the advent of westernized diet and a lack of exercise, young female college students are paying more attention to their bodyweight and health. Whole-body vibration has been demonstrated to be a suitable training method for improving knee extension maximal strength in young female athletes, as well as the gait performance in elderly women. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of a vertical vibration intervention on the physical fitness and postural balance in young females. Fifty-four young women were recruited; all subjects were randomly assigned to the intervention group and control group. The intervention group underwent vertical vibration with a platform for 12 weeks. The results showed that body mass index and body fat percentage had decreased (P<0.05). In addition, their muscle endurance as indicated by a sit-up test and their flexibility as indicated by a sit-and-reach test were both increased. With regard to postural balance, their 30-second sit-to-stand and timed up and go test results were improved. At the same time, their mean single-leg stance with eyes closed time increased (P<0.05). However, there were no significant differences, meanwhile, for the control group. Overall, the results showed that the whole body vibration (WBV) intervention had some beneficial effects on physical fitness and postural balance in young women.
