The Effects of Working Environments and Psychological Empowerment of the Employed People with Mental Illness on Job Satisfaction (취업정신장애인의 작업환경과 심리적 임파워먼트가 직무만족에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine how working environments and psychological empowerment of the employed people with mental illness influencing their job satisfaction. This research was conducted with 326 the employed people with mental illness working for the competitive employment. The result of study appeared their job satisfaction was estimated in order of psychological empowerment, supervisor's support, participative climate, and compensation system. This research has its meaning in that it dealt with psychological work environments taking into consideration characteristics of the people with mental illness for the first time. And this research was significant in demonstrating that the concept of psychological empowerment is the most important notion to explain job satisfaction of the people with mental illness as well as general workers.

  • Purpose This study exploratory investigated the effects of the fit between forms of knowledge management(KM) strategy and types of information technology(IT) capability on the kinds of innovations such as product and process innovations. In this study, the openness of innovations that affects the innovations of a firm is considered. Design/methodology/approach For this empirical study, 104 manufacturing firms' data were finally collected through field survey. For the analysis of the data, cluster analysis and multiple regression analysis were employed. Findings This study demonstrated that when a system-oriented KM strategy is adopted, IT flexibility, which supports the implementation of a system-oriented strategy, is highly employed and utilized. It was also found that under a dynamic KM strategy, both IT integration and IT flexibility are highly employed. For the innovation of a firm, it was found that when a system-oriented strategy is employed and the flexibility of IT is highly adopted, the levels of product innovation are enhanced. Under a dynamic strategy, when the degrees of IT integration and IT flexibility are high, high levels of product and process innovations were empirically found. The impact of innovation openness on the innovations of a firm were partially demonstrated. Finally, the positive impact of the innovations on the improvement of performance in manufacturing firms were demonstrated.

Association Between Work Status and the Use of Healthcare Services Among Women in the Republic of Korea

  • Introduction: Previous studies on occupational health focussed predominately on the occurrence of occupational diseases. Relatively few studies have measured how employment is associated with the use of healthcare services. This study investigates the association between employment and the extent and range of healthcare use, such as medical expenditures, of women in South Korea. Methods: We analyze data of the Korean Health Panel, an ongoing longitudinal national representative survey, from 2008 to 2017, to identify the status of economic activity of women by year and age group. We estimate the association between female employment status and medical expenditures by using random effect panel Tobit models. Furthermore, we investigate the association between employment status and the range of healthcare services in biomedicine and traditional Korean medicine (KM) by conducting conditional fixed-effects logistic regression analyses. Results: For women aged between 25 and 65 in 2017, the majority of them were employed or self-employed. (The proportion of employment of self-employment equals 64.80%). In addition, working women spent 11.6% less on healthcare than nonworking women, and self-employment lowered the healthcare expenditure by 13.1%. Neither work nor the type of work is related to the types and range of healthcare service use. Being employed or self-employed is negatively associated with women's expenditure on healthcare. Conclusions: The findings show that employment is associated with less spending on healthcare. They imply that employment has a positive impact on women's health.

A Study on the Satisfaction with Tax Agency Services for Self-Employed North Korean Defectors in the Era of Digital Transformatio (디지털 전환 시대 북한이탈주민 자영업자의 세무대리서비스 만족도에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, as part of an effort to help North Korean defectors adapt to South Korean society in the era of digital transformation, we attempted to analyze factors that affect North Korean defectors' satisfaction with self-employed tax agency services. The research method was analyzed using exploratory factor analysis and structural equation techniques using the LISREL statistical package. The research results are summarized as follows. First, the factors affecting the satisfaction of North Korean defector self-employed tax agency service users were identified as tax accountant characteristics and user characteristics. Second, for self-employed North Korean defectors in South Korean society, improving user characteristics is important in the initial settlement stage, strengthening tax accountant characteristics along with user characteristics is important in the mid-term settlement stage, and only strengthening tax accountant characteristics is significant in the long term. These research results are interpreted as having a great influence on the lifestyle and culture of North Korean society where North Korean defectors lived.

A Descriptive Study of Occupational Health Services in Self-employed Enterprises (Nanoscale Enterprises), Shiraz, Iran

  • Background: This study was conducted with aim of providing an overview of the current status of occupational health services and identifying the most common harmful agents at workplaces of Iranian self-employed enterprises (Nano-Scale Enterprises). Methods: A cross-sectional study was performed among a random sample including 1,758 employees engaging in self-employed enterprises with 5 and less employees. Results: Coverage of occupational health surveillance was very poor, annual health examinations were been conducted only for 64 (3.64%) of males and 31 (1.76%) of females, and occupational health trainings were not included of the services at all. Personal Protective Equipment were available in 462 (26.3%) of the enterprises. only in 0.4% of the enterprises working processes were been equipped by a local exhaust ventilation system. Difficult postures were the most common (81.5%) adverse working conditions. Conclusion: This study revealed a poor level of the implementation of occupational health services in Iranian self-employed enterprises. Based on the findings, providing basic training on the occupational health, more enforcing in conduction of health examinations and providing PPE, and taking appropriate strategies aimed at eliminating or minimizing work environment harmful agents are the major factor that should be considered to improve the level of occupational health services among the studied enterprises.

A Study on the Home Management Behavior in Employed Wives' Families Based on a System's Approach (체계론적 관점에서 본 취업주부가정의 가정관리행동 연구 -갈등 관리 행동을 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study was to provide for the appropriate conflict management strategies to employed wives by investigation casual relations of conflict, resources, home management behavior and managerial satisfaction by applying a system's approach. The data were collected through the questionnaire whose respondent were 388 employed wives. The data were analyzed by various statistical methods such as Frequency, Percentage, ANOVA, F-test, T-test, Pearsons' correlation analysis, Multiple Regression analysis, Path analysys. The results of this study are as follows : 1) Input variables, throughput variables, output variables had differences significantly according to the family life cycle. The employed wives' families which are former term of the family life cycle used more appropriate conflict management strategies than latter term of FLC. That is, the employed wives' families which are former term of FLC had more abundant resources such as cohesive power of family, interaction with relatives, social support, had higher planning score, used more frequent structural management strategies. But, the managerial satisfaction had no differences. 2) For the relation of input variables and throughput variables, the more resources, the lower conflict is the higher planning, implementing score, structural management score. For the relation of throughput variables, the higher planning, implementing, structural management score is the higher managerial satisfaction score. For the relation of input variables and output variables, the more resources, the lower conflict is the higher managerial satisfaction, besides objective and material resource, subjective and psychological resource had influence. 4) among all variables affecting the managerial satisfaction, the commition of housework, cohesive power of family, wives' occupational level had indirect effect on managerial satisfaction through structural managemenet. Only the income had direct effect on managerial satisfaction.

  • The purpose of this paper IS to examine the differences of cognition between self-management and corporation in report and payment of Value Added Tax. And then We want to suggest the policy of improvements to reduce the resistance of tax-payer in V.A.T. Data was collected for 250 firms' samples from the self-employed and corporation in Daegu Seongseo Industry District. The main results of empirical study are as follows. First, Value Added Tax is not fair in all companies. But It couldn't find the differences between self-employed a d corporation in statistical meaning. Second, It was found the cooperatives generally think to pay the taxes in rule, but self-employed not do it in the report and payment of Value Added Tax. But we couldn't find the important differences between self-employed and corporation in statistical meaning. We propose to improve the polices of introduction of tax rates of multiples in the charging and to redesign the definition of a tax-payer of value added tax to reduce the resistance in report and payment.

Energy intake and snack choice by the meal patterns of employed people

  • The aim of this study was to provide descriptive information on meal and snack patterns and to investigate snacks in relation to energy intake and food choice according to the meal patterns of employed people in Korea. 683 employed people (292 males, 391 females) were interviewed to collect one day dietary data by using 24-h dietary recall. A recorded day was divided into 3 meal and 3 snack periods by the respondent's criteria and the time of consumption. To analyze the eating pattern participants were divided as the more frequent snack eaters (MFSE) and the less frequent snack eaters (LFSE). They were also categorized into 6 groups according to the frequency of all eating occasions. The common meal pattern in nearly half of the subjects (47.6%) was composed of three meals plus one or two snacks per day. A trend of an increasing the number of snacks in between main meals emerges, although the conventional meal pattern is still retained in most employed Korean adults. Women, aged 30-39, and urban residents, had a higher number of being MFSE than LFSE. Increasing eating occasions was associated with higher energy, protein, and carbohydrate intakes, with the exception of fat intakes. 16.8% of the total daily energy intake came from snack consumption, while the 3 main meals contributed 83.2%. Energy and macronutrient intakes from snacks in the MFSE were significantly higher than the LFSE. Instant coffee was the most popular snack in the morning and afternoon, whereas heavy snacks and alcohol were more frequently consumed by both of the meal skipper groups ($\leq$2M+2,3S and $\leq$2M+0,1S) in the evening. In conclusion, meal pattern is changing to reflect an increase of more snacks between the three main meals. Meal and snack patterns may be markers for the energy and macronutrient intakes of employed people in Korea.

Expenditures on Market Substitutes for Housework: Dual-Income and Single-Income Households (맞벌이가계와 비맞벌이가계의 가사노동 시장대체지출비 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of wife's employment status on the household expenditures of timesaving market substitutes for houseworks. Seven expenditure categories were considered such as food away from home, convenient/prepared food, housing care service, clothing care service, childcare, supplemental education, and domestic services. The data were taken from 1999 Family Expenditure Survey by National Statistical Office. The sample consisted of 29,963 households with 33.2% dual-income households. The average monthly expenditure for food away from home was 127,795 won for dual-income households, while 103.100 won for single-income households. The expenditure for childcare of dual-income households was over six times of single-income households'. Dual-income households spent over ten times of single-income households for domestic services. For most expenditure categories, households with wife working at white-color jobs spent more than other dual-income households. After being other household characteristics to be constant, wife's occupation had found to be related with the household expenditures for most market substitutes. For the expenditures on both food away from home and childcare, employed-wife households with any kind of jobs were found to have higher possibility to spend and to be spent more than non-employed-wife households. The households with wife employed at white-color jobs spent more on clothing care service and domestic services than the households with the not working. Employed-wife households had higher possibility to spend on supplemental education, but they did not spend more on the expenditure, compared to nonemployed-wife households.

Income and Financial Assets by Occupation - A Comparision of Salary Earner and Self-Employed Households - (봉급생활자 가구와 자영업자 가구의 소득과 금융자산 비교 분석)

  • This study was to compare the income and financial assets of the Salary Earner and those of Self-Employed households. The data was drawn from the Korean Household Panel Study(KHPS) that was surveyed by Daewoo in 1995. The major findings were as follows: 1. All households were holding salary/business income, and the average of salary/business income of Salary earner household and Self-employed household were found to be 1,580,000 won and 2.050,000 won respectively. 2. Households were holding saving accounts most in both groups. 3. The yearly financial income, yearly immovable property income, and the yearly annuity income were correlated with yearly subsidiary income. The yearly financial income were correlated with the yearly annuity and yield from bonds. There were negative relationships between the yearly annuity and yield from bonds. The yearly miscellaneous income was correlated with the yearly yield from stock. There were negative relationships between the yield from stock and bonds in Salary-Earner households. 4. The yearly subsidiary income and yield from bonds were correlated with monthly business income. The yearly annuity and yearly total amounts of saving accounts were correlated with yearly subsidy income. The immovable property, the yearly yield from stock and bonds were correlated with the yearly financial income. The yearly yield from stock and bonds were correlated with the immovable property and the yearly annuity income. The yearly misellaneous and total amounts of saving accounts were correlated with the yearly yield from stock and bonds. The Yearly yield from stock was correlated with yield from bonds in Self-Employed households. (Koran J of Human Ecology 2(l) : 1-11, 1999)
