Real-world multimodal lifelog dataset for human behavior study

  • To understand the multilateral characteristics of human behavior and physiological markers related to physical, emotional, and environmental states, extensive lifelog data collection in a real-world environment is essential. Here, we propose a data collection method using multimodal mobile sensing and present a long-term dataset from 22 subjects and 616 days of experimental sessions. The dataset contains over 10 000 hours of data, including physiological, data such as photoplethysmography, electrodermal activity, and skin temperature in addition to the multivariate behavioral data. Furthermore, it consists of 10 372 user labels with emotional states and 590 days of sleep quality data. To demonstrate feasibility, human activity recognition was applied on the sensor data using a convolutional neural network-based deep learning model with 92.78% recognition accuracy. From the activity recognition result, we extracted the daily behavior pattern and discovered five representative models by applying spectral clustering. This demonstrates that the dataset contributed toward understanding human behavior using multimodal data accumulated throughout daily lives under natural conditions.

Work-Family Conflict and Counterproductive Behavior of Employees in Workplaces in China: Polynomial Regression and Response Surface Analysis

  • This study investigates the complex mechanism of work-family conflict affecting counterproductive behavior of employees based on resource conservation theory and 417 valid samples by using polynomial regression and response surface analysis. Counterproductive work behavior refers to any intentional behavior of an individual that has potential harm to the legitimate interests of the organization or its stakeholders. Results show that first, work-to-family conflict (WFC) and family-to-work conflict (FWC) had four matching types. Compared with "high WFC-low FWC," "low WFC-high FWC" and "low WFC-low FWC" matching conditions, the employee self-control resource depletion and counterproductive work behavior (CWB) are at their highest under "high WFC-high FWC" congruence matching condition. Second, the joint effect of WFC and FWC has a U-shaped relationship with counterproductive behavior. Compared with the "high WFC-low FWC" match state, the level of CWB in the "low WFC-high FWC" match state is higher. Third, the depletion of self-control resources played a mediating role in the effect of WFC on counterproductive behavior. Fourth, emotional intelligence moderated the relationship between the congruence of WFC and FWC and self-control resource depletion. Emotional intelligence was higher, and the positive relationship between the congruence of WFC and FWC and self-control resource depletion was weaker.

Marketer Generated Content on Social Media: How to Support Corporate Online Distribution

  • Purpose: More and more marketers use social media platforms to create and spread information called Marketer Generated Content (MGC) to inform consumers of products. MGC often embeds product purchase links, thus directing consumers to online distribution channels for online purchases. This study examined the effect of social media MGC on consumers' willingness to buy online in the anchor of consumers' perspective to answer the question of "how social media generated content support corporate online distribution". Research design, data, and methodology: According to the means-end-chain theory, we introduce perceived value and continuous following intention as chain mediators to explain the mechanism of MGC influence on consumers' online purchase intention and consider product type to discuss boundary conditions. Two experiments were designed to test hypothesizes. Results and Conclusion: First, emotional MGC (vs. informational MGC) has lower (higher) perceived utility (hedonic) value. Second, perceived value has a significant mediate role in the effect of MGC on continuous following intention. Third, perceived value and continuous following intention significantly and sequentially mediated the effect of MGC on online purchase intention. Through the sequential mediations of perceived utility value and continuous following intention, Informational MGC of search products significantly increase online purchase intentions. Another parallel sequential mediation, including perceived hedonic, emotional MGC of experience products, partially enhanced online purchase intentions. Finally, this study gives implications for how corporates can use social media MGC to promote product sales online.

An Experimental Study to Determine Proper Lighting Conditions in Powder Rooms

  • In this study, a mock powder room was installed with variable LED lighting environments in order to conduct the experiments. The experimental conditions include luminaire type, illuminance ratio, vertical illuminance and color temperatures. The evaluation methods used were the Semantic Differential Method and a subjective evaluation on activities through observation. The SD evaluation result factor analysis categorizes ideas into three factors: brightness, emotion, and glare. The vertical bracket or the combined luminaire (luminous panel+ Vertical bracket) has better brightness than luminous panel. A vertical illuminance of 500lx is not significantly difference as compared to 600lx, allowing 500lx to be considered standard. The emotional atmosphere is evaluated as being better at lower color temperature. The luminous panel is the best for reducing glare while the vertical bracket is the worst. The best conditions differ according to the illuminance ratio of the luminous panel and vertical bracket. In the subjective evaluation (satisfaction with lighting environment, suitability to activity) the combined luminaire and 4000K received the best evaluation.

건설현장 근로자의 안전사고 예방 경험에 대한 근거이론적 연구 (A Grounded Theoretical Study on the Experience of Preventing Safety Accidents of Workers at Construction Sites)

  • The purpose of this study is to find out how construction sites workers experience adaptation processes in relation to the prevention of safety accidents in the workplace through the method of grounded theory. In order to understand the experience of preventing safety accidents of workers at construction sites, a grounded theory analysis method was chosen. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, the first questionnaire was sent to 17 people working in the construction site by e-mail, and the participants of the study were met one by one for in-depth interviews. As a result of this study, the paradigm model of the experience of preventing safety accidents of workers at construction sites was classified into causal conditions, contextual conditions, central phenomena, intervening conditions, action/interactions, and outcomes. The conclusions of this study are as follows. First, forming a safety culture that can improve the safety awareness of construction sites is a priority. Second, it is necessary to improve self-management capabilities so that construction workers can accurately diagnose their current state such as their own body, emotion, and cognition and provide appropriate safety education. Third, providing safety education for construction workers with negative thoughts or distorted beliefs about safety accidents needs to include psychological treatment and counseling, such as methods of emotional purification, methods of relieving and managing stress, and methods of removing trauma.

  • This study analyzed the influence of experiential marketing factors of 3D printing and Internet services on technology acceptance factors and usage intention. Furthermore, we analyzed how the user's innovativeness shows the effect on the intention to use. Data acquired from a total of 518 college students was used for the final analysis, which was perfromed by SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 23.0 programs. The results of this study are as follows. We analyzed the influence of the experiential marketing factors of fashion service utilizing the 3D printing and the Internet of Things on the acceptance of technology and intention to use these technologies. As for 3D printing, first, sensory and behavioral factors are positively related to the acceptance of technology. Second, emotional and cognitive factors have negative effects on all technology acceptance. Third, relational factors did not show a significant influence on several conditions of technology acceptance. Fourth, the effects of technology acceptance on the willingness to use have a positive effect on several conditions factors, except the effort expectation. As for the result concerning the Internet of Things first, behavioral factors have a positive effect on all technology acceptance. Second, emotional factors have a negative effect on all technology acceptance. Third, cognitive factors did not have a significant effect on various conditions and showed negative effects on several factors. Fourth, sensory and relational factors did not affect the acceptance of technology. Fifth, the effects of technology acceptance on the intention to use are affected by several conditions, except for effort expectation. As a result of analyzing the moderating effects of user's innovativeness on the willingness to use, 3D printing did not show any significant effect on innovation. However, the Internet of Things has a significant influence on the user acceptance of technology acceptance.

호스피스 환자들의 언어적·비언어적 표현 증진을 위한음악적 활용 (Use of music to facilitate verbal and nonverbal expression for older adults in the hospice care)

  • 호스피스 환자들은 질병으로 인한 심리 정서적 문제를 동반하는데 이에 대한 적절한 치료적 개입이 이루어지지 않으면 이러한 문제가 신체화 현상으로 나타나면서 삶의 질을 방해하는 요인으로 작용한다. 본 연구는 음악이 부정적인 자기 은폐(self-concealment)를 감소시키고 언어적 비언어적 표현(self-expression)을 촉진시키는 지를 보고자하는 데에 그 목적을 두었다. 호스피스 기관에 있는 전문가들로부터 추천받은 3명의 말기 환자들을 대상으로 4개월간의 음악치료 세션을 실시하였으며, 음악치료는 각 환자들의 상태에 따라 총 9회에서 11회에 걸쳐 진행되었다. 자기은폐척도(Self-Concealment Scale: SCS)와 자기서술문(Personal Descriptive Essays)을 이용하여 음악치료프로그램 사전, 사후 검사를 실행한 후 양적 및 질적 자료를 산출하여 결과를 분석하였다. 연구 결과 다양한 음악적 개입 중에서 특히 노래를 중심으로 구성된 프로그램이 삶과 관련된 여러 가지 주제와 감정적 내용들에 대한 환자들의 반응을 이끌어 내는 데에 효과적임을 보여주었다. 사후 검사에서 환자들의 자기은폐 수준이 낮아졌으며, 자기서술문에서 보고된 자료에는 사실적인 내용 대신 감정적 내용이 증가하였음을 보여주었다. 본 연구는 여러 가지 심리 정서적 어려움을 가지고 있는 말기 환자들에게 감정표현과 의사소통 매개체로서 음악이 효과적이라는 결과를 보여주었다. 또한, 자기감정과의 만남과 이에 대한 표현은 삶의 질을 향상시킨다는 관점에서 감상과 같은 수동적 참여를 기본으로 환자의 활동 수준에 맞추어 음악프로그램을 구성한다면 환자들의 삶의 질을 향상시킬 수 있다는 점을 시사한다.

기부 광고 효과에 대한 ERP 연구: 심상과 주의 (An ERP study on charitable donation ad effects: Mental imagery and attention)

  • 기부 광고가 기부의향을 효과적으로 촉진시키기 위해서는 목표 청중이 동정심, 공감이나 심리적 불편감 등의 정서를 느끼도록 하는 전략이 필요한 것으로 알려졌다. 선행연구들은 기부 광고에 의해서 유발되는 정서적 경험에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 요인으로 광고의 언어적 요소인 메시지의 속성(구체성과 정서가)과 그에 따른 심리적 반응(심상 유발과 주의 집중)을 제안한다. 기부 광고를 처리하는 심리적 기제를 이해하기 위해서, 본 연구는 선행 연구들을 근거로 '기부 광고의 메시지 속성 (메시지의 구체성과 정서가) ${\rightarrow}$ 심상 유발과 주의 집중 ${\rightarrow}$ 정서적 경험 ${\rightarrow}$ 기부의향'의 개념적 모형을 제안하였다. 이와 같은 개념적 모형 중 본 연구는 메시지의 구체성과 정서가가 (1) 심상 유발과 주의 집중에 미치는 영향을 ERP로 측정하고, (2) 기부의향에 미치는 영향을 기부의향금액을 측정하여 실증적으로 검증하고자 했다. 그 결과, 구체적인 메시지는 추상적인 메시지에 비해서 심상을 더 유발시키며, 부정적인 메시지는 긍정적인 메시지에 비해서 더 많은 주의를 불러일으키는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 또한 메시지가 구체적이면서 부정적일 경우, 기부희망금액이 가장 높은 것으로 나타났다.

운전 중 돌발 상황과 관련된 인지 처리 및 감정 반응의 피부전도수준 해석 (Analysis of Skin Conductance Level for Cognitional and Emotional Responses associated with Unexpected Situation during Driving)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the skin conductance level (SCL) induced by unexpected situation which reflected the emotional and cognitional responses during driving. The participants included 57 college graduates; 28 males aged $24.5{\pm}1.3$ with $2.3{\pm}1.5$ years of driving experiences and 29 females aged $23.6{\pm}2.6$ with $2.2{\pm}1.7$ years of driving experience. Reaction time of brake, averaged SCL, maximum SCL, and rising time to maximum amplitude were measured. They were analysed according to condition (crash, non-crash) and gender (male, female). The reaction time of brake was more faster and averaged SCL was greater during non-crash condition than during crash condition. There were no significant differences between male and female drivers in the reaction time of brake and averaged SCL whether or not it crash. There were no significant differences between crash and non-crash conditions in the maximum SCL and rising time to maximum amplitude, but there were significant differences between male and female in them. These results support the hypothesis that averaged SCL is more related to cognitional response and maximum SCL and rising time to maximum amplitude are more related to emotional responses.

전국 보건소 비정규직 방문간호사의 고용형태별 직무실태 비교 (Comparison of Working Conditions among Non-regular Visiting Nurses in Public Health Centers based on Their Employment Types)

  • Purpose: This study is to investigate working conditions including job stress among visiting nurses in public health centers in Korea. Methods: An social network based mobile survey was conducted in May 2017 (N=936, response rate: 47.0%). Results: The visiting nurses in this study had their average total career as a nurse is 13.7 years. The 68.3% of them were employed in an indefinite term, 17.0% were hired in a fixed term, and 11.0% came from outsourcing. They responded as high job-stress level including inadequate compensation (71.22/100) and job demands (71.91/100). They experienced down-talk (63.4%), swearwords (32.9%), being made a dirty face (39.9%), sexual jokes (30.8%), or being likened or evaluated with their appearance sexually (14.3%). Among the causes of job related conflicts and discrimination, deprived salary level was the most frequent reason (83.4%). The conflicts and discrimination were incurred by government officers (52.4%). There were no significant differences in overall job stress, emotional labor, organizational commitment, violence, and discrimination experience based on their employment types. Conclusion: The differences in working conditions among the non-regular nurses were trivial, and their overall working conditions were poor. It is necessary to improve non-regular nurses' working conditions in order to make up the limitations of the Korean healthcare system which is centered on hospitals.
