  • Initial stage of emotion has a great influence on building up product image and impression. Because of its influencing effects, measuring initial stage of emotion has potential to be a key factor for designers and marketers to achieve a distinct product concept. While many researchers have studied this topic with the emotion measurement method in product use stage, there are very few cases specialized in the initial stage of emotion. Even though present emotion measurement methods have difficulties to derive accurate user's initial stage of emotion, most case of initial emotion study applies these defective methods. The purpose of this study is to develop initial stage of emotion measurement method and apply this method to real product context. In the design of the initial stage of emotion measurement method, noticeable characteristics of initial stage of emotion were explored and initial emotion measurement framework was presented. Based on this framework, Initial Emotion Measurement System(IEMS) was suggested. This method collects user's eye movement, behavior and verbal data accurately and objectively.

  • We cannot express emotions correctly with only speech because it is hard to estimate the kind, size, amount of emotions. Hamlet who is a protagonist in 'Hamlet' of Shakespeare has emotions which cannot be expressed within only speech because he is in various dramatic situations. So we supposed an artificial emotion, instead of expressing emotion with speech, expressing and visualizing current emotions with color and location. And we visualized emotions of characters in 'Hamlet' with the artificial emotion. We designed the artificial emotion to four steps considering peculiarities of emotion. First, the artificial emotion analyzes inputted emotional stimulus as relationship between causes and effects and analyzes its kinds and amounts. Second, we suppose Emotion Graph Unit to express generating, maintaining, decaying of analyzed one emotional stimuli which is outputted by first step, according to characteristic. Third, using Emotion Graph Unit, we suppose Emotion Graph that expresses continual same emotional stimulus. And we make Emotion Graph at each emotions, managing generation and decay of emotion individually. Last, we suppose Emotion Field can express current combined value of Emotion Graph according to co-relation of various emotions, and visualize current emotion by a color and a location in Emotion Field. We adjusted the artificial emotion to the play 'Hamlet' to test and visualize changes of emotion of Hamlet and his mother, Gertrude.

  • We define a 'dominant emotion' as acting dominantly for unit time, and propose methodology to extract dominant emotion in a literature automatically. Due to the nature of the Korean language, it is able to be changed or reversed owns meanings as desinence. But it might be possible to extract a dominant emotion in a text has a small quantity like a fiction or an essay. A process to extract a dominant emotion in a literature is as follows. At first, extract morphemes in a whole text. And dispart words having emotional meaning as matching emotion terms database. Map disported terms to a affective circumplex model and matching it with basic emotion. Finally, analyze dominant emotion according to matched basic emotion. And we adjust our methodology to two literature; modem fiction 'A lucky day' by Jingeon, Hyun and essay 'An old man who shave a bat' by Woyoung, Yun. • There are numerous emotions in the human world. Human expresses and recognizes their emotion using various channels. The example is an eye, nose and mouse. Particularly, in the emotion recognition from facial expression they can perform the very flexible and robust emotion recognition because of utilization of various channels. Hybrid-feature extraction algorithm is based on this human process. It uses the geometrical feature extraction and the color distributed histogram. And then, through the independently parallel learning of the neural-network, input emotion is classified. Also, for the natural classification of the emotion, advancing two-dimensional emotion space is introduced and used in this paper. Advancing twodimensional emotion space performs a flexible and smooth classification of emotion.
