As the environmental pollution caused by excessive uses of chemical fertilizers and pesticides is aggravated, organic farming using pasture and livestock manure is gaining an increased necessity. The application rate of the organic farming materials to the field is determined as a function of crops and soil types, weather and cultivation surroundings. When livestock manure is used for organic farming materials, the volatilization of ammonia from field-spread animal manure is a major source of atmospheric pollution and leads to a significant reduction in the fertilizer value of the manure. Therefore, an ammonia emission model should be presented to reduce the ammonia emission and to know appropriate application rate of manure. In this study, the ammonia emission rate from field-applied pig manure is predicted using an artificial neural network (ANN) method, where the Michaelis-Menten equation is employed for the ammonia emission rate model. Two model parameters (total loss of ammonia emission rate and time to reach the half of the total emission rate) of the model are predicted using a feedforward-backpropagation ANN on the basis of the ALFAM (Ammonia Loss from Field-applied Animal Manure) database in Europe. The relative importance among 15 input variables influencing ammonia loss is identified using the weight partitioning method. As a result, the ammonia emission is influenced mush by the weather and the manure state.
The purpose of the study is to propose the concrete and realistic alternative measures for $CO_2$ emission reduction on commercial sector. To achieve the purpose, this study adopted AIM/KOREA simulation model modified from AIM(Asia-Pacific Integrated Model) originally developed by Japan National Environmental Research Institute. The results of simulation demonstrate that the $CO_2$ emission from the commercial sector in 1995 was estimated 864 million TC(tons of carbon); however, according to the base scenario, $CO_2$ emission in 2020 is expected to be increased to 1,872 million TC, which is 2.17 times greater than that in 1995. In order to mitigate the ever-increasing $CO_2$ emission, the results of AIM/KOREA simulations under various scenarios showed that the 30-thousand-won carbon tax scenario does not successfully motivate the selection of advanced technology; however, with the 300-thousand-won carbon tax, a substantial amount of $CO_2$ emission reduction by 1.69 million TC from the BaU((Business-as-Usual)scenario is expected to be achieved by year 2020. Such substantial reduction of $CO_2$ emission under the 300-thoudsand-won carbon tax scenario is due to the introduction of advanced technology, such as use of condensing boilers, forced by heavier carbon tax. Under the scenario that presumes the maximum introduction of gas-burning industrial appliances, an 2.66 million TC of $CO_2$ reduction was expected. The results of this study suggest that the $CO_2$ emission reduction measures can be interpreted in many different views. However, if people and industries are fully aware of the economic benefit of energy saving, a certain level of $CO_2$ reduction by a successful introduction of advanced energy saving technology appears to be achieved without carbon tax or subsidies.

This study was carried out to investigate the relationship between the traffic signal systmes and the air pollutants emitted by the motor vehicles at Kangnam Intersection. One of the most important measures of effectiveness (MOE) in traffic studies is the delay to vehicles in the system. Delay represents indirect costs to the motorist in terms of time loss and a direct cost in terms of fuel consumption during idling. The results of TRANSYT-7F modeling was correlated among delay, fuel consumption and total travel tiem. Air pollutants emission rate can be calculated by the results of modeling and the Korean type emission factor. As expected the highest emissions, for air pollutants, are observed during the morning rush hours (07 : 00-10 : 00). For better results of modeling, the TRANSYT-7F model needs to modify for the Korean type of traffic model. The results of this study indicate that the variation of air pollutants emission rates were closely related to the traffic signal system.

EMI emission characteristics of 42" AC-PDP panel are investigated in this paper. First, EMI emission source was modeled the scan electrode and the sustain electrode to a simple electric and magnetic dipole type radiator. Second, EMI emission source was modeled as reconfigured the scan electrode and the sustain electrode. The primary source of EMI emission was investigated using FEM calculation of the wave impedance and 3 dB beam width. The third. the EMI emission level was estimated using the measured sustain electrode current. Also, EMI emission level of 42" AC-PDP was measured. The results show that the calculated EMI emission level from the simple electric dipole model was shown to agree with that from the corresponding FEM simulation.

Because of variable factors in construction phase, measurement of carbon emission in construction industry is more difficult than in other industries. To enhance accuracy of the measurement, the impact of variable factors must be considered. In this paper, to understand the influence of variable factors in steel erection work, a carbon emission casual map was developed. The map demonstrates that the considerations of variable factors in measurement of carbon emission improves the accuracy. The results of this paper are expected to contribute to development of carbon emission casual map and carbon emission measurement model for the entire construction phase.

As exhaust emission standards for new passenger cars amended in 1987 have become more stringent, vehicle manufacturers have employed three-way catalyst in order to meet these requirements. The purpose of this study was to gather informations on new emission control systems in customer use for in-use vehicles from the 1987 through 1992 model years were capable of achieving low exhaust emission levels although high levels do occur due to defects, deterioration or maladjustments with the emission control equipment. The vehicles with closed loop electronic control fuel injection system emitted low exhaust emission, but the carburetor control system equipped vehicles emitted high exhaust emissions and the high mileage vehicles exhibited higher average emissions than low mileage vehicles. It was also found that the useful life of 80, 000km is very important to maintain the low emission levels within customer service period.

The coupled model (SMART) of dynamic meteorology model and particle dispersion model was developed. The numerical experiment on the relationship between change of land use and diffusion behavior in complex terrain was carried out using this model. It tried to investigate the change of particle diffusion behavior and local weather under the condition in which land-land breeze and sea breeze and mountain breeze intermingled. The numerical experiment results are as follows; 1) The more complicated local circulation field of the interaction of sea breeze, mountain breeze and Land -land breeze is formed. Then, the region circulation in which the urbanization is specific by location of the region is strengthened and is weakened. 2) Though in the region with dominant sea breeze, Land-land breeze does not appear directly, the progress of the sea wind to the inland is affected. 3) In the prediction of the air diffusion, emission high quality and accurate information of the emission site are important. That is to say, the dispersion predicting result which emission high quality and small error of the site perfectly vary for Land - land breeze in the effect may be brought about.
For the efficient control of atmospheric quality, it is so important to predict the influence accurately of which the air pollutant emitted into the atmosphere. Atmospheric dispersion model enables to simulate and grasp the atmospheric condition occurred due to the emission of pollutants. The result of model is largely affected by the amount of emission, the characteristics of physical and chemical process, meteorological input data, and the receptor which the concentration is calculated. The aim of this research, therefore, is to suggest more suitable model in Pusan area than other areas by performing TCM2, CDM2.0 and ISCLT2 models. As the basic work for executing the model, we computed the amount of emission of air pollutants in Pusan at 1992 and analyzed the occurrence frequency of atmospheric stability for recent decade(1985~19941, CDM2.0 showed the similar result relatively with observed value in the case of full year(1992), fall and winter, and ISCLT2 brought more suitable result in spring for Pusan area. As the result of this research, in future, it is necessary for us to develop the numerical model considering the topographical characteristics, to select the proper observation site and to increase the observation site for Pusan.

The present study numerically investigates the fuel-air mixing characteristics, flame structure, and pollutant emission inside a double-swirler combustor. A PSR(Perfectly Stirred Reactor) based microstructural model is employed to account for the effects of finite rate chemistry on the flame structure and NO formation. The turbulent combustion model is extended to nonadiabatic flame condition with radiation by introducing an enthalpy variable, and the radiative heat loss is calculated by a local, geometry-independent model. The effects of turbulent fluctuation are taken into account by the joint assumed PDFs. Numerical model is based on the non-orthogonal body-fitted coordinate system and the pressure/velocity coupling is handled by PISO algorithm in context with the finite volume formulation. The present PSR-based turbulent combustion model has been applied to analyze the highly intense turbulent nonpremixed flame field in the double swirler combustor. The detailed discussions were made for the flow structure, combustion effects on flow structure, flame structure, and emission characteristics in the highly intense turbulent swirling flame of the double swirler burner.
The study of Cochlear biomechanics is to clearly define three biomechanical principles of the Cochlea : Activity, Nonlinearity and Feedback. In this article, the Cochlea is linearly and actively modelled in one dimensional time domain. The sharp tunning of the Basilar Membrane displacement is shown when the amplifying activity of hair cells is added to the model. The amplified energy of the travelling displacement wave is emitted throughout the Cochlear fluid, so that the model becomes unstable. A new technique is introduced to reduce strong echos fro the Helicotrema. It makes the model less unstable. Both pure and click tones are used as input stimuli onto the ear durm. When the model is normal, the click response of the model shows that the backward emission of the amplified fluid pressure has mainly the echos from the Helicotrema. However, when the linear and active model is assumed to be abnormal, that is, some of hair cells are damaged not to produce the active process, the effect of the hair cell damage is resulted in the Oto-acoustic emission. The frequency response of the abnormally emitted sound pressure shows that the Oto-acoustic emission has the information about the characteristic frequency of the damaged hair cell. The main aim of this paper is to demonstrate the active biomechanics of the Chchlea in the time domain.
