An Er-doped sulfide fiber was drawn, and its spectroscopic properties were analyzed. Compositions of a 1000 ppmwt Er3+-doped core and an undoped clad were Ge30-Ga1-Asg-S61 and Ge30-As8-S62, in at.%, respectively. Refractive index of the core composition was approximately 0.01 high than that of the clad. In order to enhance the mechanical stability as well as to prevent infiltration of impurity ions such as OH-, an UV-curable polymer was used for the coating. The optical loss of a fiber formed directly from a polymer coated core rod without cladding was ∼15 dB/m at 1.06$\mu\textrm{m}$. In the case of a fiber with core/clad structure, the optical loss was so high that the stimulated emission of erbium fluorescence was not evident. It is believed that presence of inhomogeneous core/clad interface and crystalline aggregates precipitated in the clad region were responsible for the high optical loss. On the other hand, fluorescence characteristics of Er3+ embedded in the core region were more or loss deteriorate compared to fiber preform, which is attributed to the redistribution of the Er ions along with the partial crystallization of the core glass during the fiberization process.
Flue gas recirculation(FGR) is an effective combustion technique for reducing nitrogen oxides(NOx) and is applied in various fields of low-pollution combustion. Continuing the previous study, a numerical analysis was conducted to identify changes of flame characteristics and NOx formation mechanism with applying FGR technique in CH4/air premixed counterflow flames. NOx emitted was divided into four main reaction paths(thermal NO, prompt NO, N2H and N2O), showing relatively the production rate of NO with the recirculation ratio. As a result, thermal NO contributed greatly to the overall NO whereas the effect of N2H was minimal. In addition, emission index of NO was compared as the recirculation ratio increased by modifying the UC San Diego mechanism to examine the contribution of thermal NO.
Fluorescence properties and carbohydrate content were investigated using ultrafiltrated size fractions of dissolved organic matters (DOM) originated from different sources. The materials included a treated sewage, an algal organic matter, and a soil leachate, all of which are major constituents of dissolved organic matter in a typical urban river. Four different size fractions were separated from the three sources of each DOM. The size distribution demonstrated that a higher molecular weight fraction was more present in soil leachate compared to two other source DOMs. A higher content of carbohydrates was observed in the following order - algal DOM > treated sewage > soil leachate. A wide range of specific UV absorbance was observed from size fractions of a single source DOM, indicating that aromatic carbon structures are heterogeneously distributed within one source of DOM. The structural heterogeneity was the most pronounced for the soil leachate. The fluorescence index ($F_{450}/F_{500}$) of the treated sewage was similar to that (2.0) typically obtained from autochthonous DOM, suggesting that the treated sewage exhibited autochthonous organic matter-like properties. No protein-like fluorescence intensities were observed for all of the soil leachate size fractions whereas they were observed with two other source DOMs. Based upon the fluorescence peak ratios from fluorescence excitation-emission matrix (EEM), two discrimination indices could be suggested to distinguish three different source DOMs. It is expected that the suggested discrimination indices will be useful to predict the sources of DOM in a typical urban river affected by treated sewage.

Objectives : To determine the impacts of Diagnosis-Related Groups/Prospective Payment System (DRG/PPS) on the quality of care in cases of Cesarean section and to describe the policy implications for the early stabilization of DRG/PPS in Korea. Methods : Data was collected from the medical records of 380 patients who had undergone Cesarean sections in 40 hospitals participating in the DRG/PPS Demonstration Program since 1999. Cesarean sections were peformed in 122 patients of the FFS(Fee-For-Service) group and 258 patients of the DRG/PPS group. Measurements of quality used included essential tests of pre- and post-operation, and the PPI(Physician Performance Index) score. The PPI was developed by two obstetricians. Results : Univariate analysis demonstrated significant differences in PPI scores according to the payment systems. With respect to the mean of PPI scores, a higher score was found in the DRG/PPS group than in the FFS group. However, the adjusted effect did not show significant differences between the FFS group and the DRG/PPS group. Conclusion : This study suggested that the problem of poor quality may not be related to the implementation of DRG/PPS in Cesarean section. However, this study did not consider the validity and reliability of the process measurement, and it did not exclude the possibility of data emission in medical records.

To fabricate white LED having a high color rendering index value, red color phosphor mixed with the green color phosphor together in the blue chip, namely the blue chips with RG phosphors packaging is most favorable for high power white LEDs. In our previous papers, we reported on successful syntheses of $Sr_{2-}$$Si_5N_8:Eu^{2+}$ and $CaAlSiN_3$ phosphors for red phosphor. In this work, for high power green phosphor, greenemitting ternary nitride $Ba_3Si_6O_{12}N_2:Eu^{2+}$ phosphor was synthesized in a high frequency induction furnace under $N_2$ gas atmosphere at temperatures up to $1400^{\circ}C$ using $EuF_3$ as a raw material for $Eu^{2+}$ dopant. The effects of molar ratio of component and experimental conditions on luminescence property of prepared phosphors have been investigated. The structure and luminescence properties of prepared $Ba_3Si_6O_{12}N_2:Eu^{2+}$ phosphors were investigated by XRD and photoluminescence spectroscopy. The excitation spectra of $Ba_3Si_6O_{12}N_2:Eu^{2+}$ phosphors indicated broad excitation wavelength range of 250 - 500 nm, namely from UV to blue region with distinct enhanced emission spectrum peaking at ${\approx}530nm$.

Because the Energy Efficiency Design Index(EEDI) came into effect in 2013, it is necessary to develop a new technology to overcome $CO_2$ emission regulations. In structural design viewpoint, lots of researches are carried out to develop eco-friendly and high fuel efficiency ships by weight reduction. By using the automated compartment arrangement system and automated structural design algorithm which were developed by the authors, new researches are performing to combine the above two systems. However, the effect of weight reduction was not significant because structural designs by using these systems for the midship part was carried out only focused on the minimum still water bending moment. In this paper, at first, good compartment arrangements which give the minimum still water bending moment and(or) shear force were chosen by using the automated compartment system. And then, influence of shear force on weight reduction was investigated by using the automated structural design algorithm considering longitudinal strength, local strength and shear strength of longitudinal members in cargo holds. Conclusively, it is necessary to consider the minimum still water bending moment and shear force simultaneously to reduce the weight of mid-sized bulk carrier. Also, good compartment arrangement which gives much more weight reduction compared with existing ship was proposed.
In cold regions, the integrity of the infrastructures built on weak soils can be extensively damaged by weathering actions due to the cyclic freezing and thawing. This damage can be mitigated by exploiting soil stabilization techniques. Generally, ordinary Portland cement (OPC) is the most commonly used binding material for investigating the chemo-hydromechanical behavior. However, due to the environmental issue of OPC producing a significant amount of carbon dioxide emission, calcium sulfoaluminate (CSA) cement can be used as one of the eco-sustainable alternatives. Although recently several studies have examined the strength development of CSA treated sand, no research has been concerned about CSA cement-stabilized sand affected by cyclic freeze and thaw. This study aims to conduct a comprehensive laboratory work to assess the effect of the cyclic freeze-thaw action on strength and durability of CSA cement-treated sand. For this purpose, unconfined compressive strength (UCS) and ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV) tests were performed on the stabilized soil specimens cured for 7 and 14 days which are subjected to 0, 1, 3, 5, and 7 freeze-thaw cycles. The test results show that the strength and durability index of the samples decrease with the increase of the freeze-thaw cycles. The loss of the strength and durability considerably decreases for all soil samples subjected to the freeze-thaw cycles. Overall, the use of CSA as a stabilizer for sandy soils would be an eco-friendly option to achieve sufficient strength and durability against the freeze-thaw action in cold regions.
We present the results of the spectral and temporal analysis of eight X-ray point sources in five nearby (distance < 20 Mpc) galaxies observed with Chandra. For spectral analysis, an absorbed powerlaw and an absorbed diskblackbody were used as empirical models. Six sources were found to be equally fitted by both the models while two sources were better fitted by the powerlaw model. Based on model parameters, we estimate the X-ray luminosity of these sources in the energy range 0.3 - 10.0 keV, to be of the order of ${\sim}10^{39}ergs\;s^{-1}$ except for one source (X-8) with $L_X>10^{40}ergs\;s^{-1}$. Five of these maybe classified as Ultraluminous X-ray sources (ULXs) with powerlaw photon index within the range, ${\Gamma}{\sim}1.63-2.63$ while the inner disk temperature, kT ~ 0.68 - 1.93 keV, when fitted with the disk blackbody model. The black hole masses harboured by the X-ray point sources were estimated using the disk blackbody model to be in the stellar mass range, however, the black hole mass of one source (X-6) lies within the range $68.37M_{\odot}{\leq}M_{BH}{\leq}176.32M_{\odot}$, which at the upper limit comes under the Intermediate mass black hole range. But if the emission is considered to be beamed by a factor ~ 5, the black hole mass reduces to ${\sim}75M_{\odot}$. The timing analysis of these sources does not show the presence of any short term variations in the kiloseconds timescales.
Positron emission tomography (PET) images is affected by acquisition time, short acquisition times results in low gamma counts leading to degradation of image quality by statistical noise. Noise2Void(N2V) is self supervised denoising model that is convolutional neural network (CNN) based deep learning. The purpose of this study is to evaluate denoising performance of N2V for PET image with a short acquisition time. The phantom was scanned as a list mode for 10 min using Biograph mCT40 of PET/CT (Siemens Healthcare, Erlangen, Germany). We compared PET images using NEMA image-quality phantom for standard acquisition time (10 min), short acquisition time (2min) and simulated PET image (S2 min). To evaluate performance of N2V, the peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR), normalized root mean square error (NRMSE), structural similarity index (SSIM) and radio-activity recovery coefficient (RC) were used. The PSNR, NRMSE and SSIM for 2 min and S2 min PET images compared to 10min PET image were 30.983, 33.936, 9.954, 7.609 and 0.916, 0.934 respectively. The RC for spheres with S2 min PET image also met European Association of Nuclear Medicine Research Ltd. (EARL) FDG PET accreditation program. We confirmed generated S2 min PET image from N2V deep learning showed improvement results compared to 2 min PET image and The PET images on visual analysis were also comparable between 10 min and S2 min PET images. In conclusion, noisy PET image by means of short acquisition time using N2V denoising network model can be improved image quality without underestimation of radioactivity.

Natural dyes are more expensive than synthetic dyes and the dyeing process, which is mainly immersion of dye, is complicated. For this reason, relatively small-scale production methods were predominant. However, awareness and interest in environmental sustainability is rising globally, and the use of synthetic dyes causes various environmental problems such as wastewater and CO2 emission, so the consumption of natural dyes is increasing. In addition, interest in digital textile printing, an eco-friendly dyeing method that can produce products of various designs and uses less water, is growing. In this study, natural indigo dye (Indigofera tinctoria) was used as a raw material for Digital Textile Printing ink, and 14C (Biocarbon) present in it was measured to confirm whether it was derived from natural ingredients. The performance was confirmed by testing the pH, viscosity, electrical conductivity, surface tension, and particle size analysis of natural indigo ink. In addition, the performance of natural indigo DTP ink and printing fabric was evaluated by inspecting the change in color fastness and corresponding index substances before and after digital printing with natural indigo DTP ink on textiles. Through this, the possibility of commercialization of DTP ink and printing fabric using natural indigo was confirmed.
