Estimation Model of Energy Expenditure of Working in a Clean Room for Manufacturing Embedded Needles by Ergonomic Programs (인간공학 프로그램에 의한 매선 제작 청정실작업의 에너지소모량 예측 모델)

  • The purpose of this study is to estimate the energy expenditure of working in a clean room for manufacturing embedded needles by ergonomic programs. Embedding needle is one of medical devices and it should be manufactured in a clean room. 3D static strength prediction program was used to analyze the slow movements during embedding needle manufacturing in a clean room. Also the energy expenditure prediction program was used to estimate energy expenditure rates for materials handling tasks to help assure worker safety and health in clean room. The energy expenditures of the tasks were calculated using prediction equations derived from empirical data. The energy expenditure rate of 3.09 kcal/min in a clean room didn't exceed the 3.5 kcal/min action limit guideline for an average 8-hour day set by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). Energy consumption was calculated on the same working conditions as EEPP program, using an average body weight of female 20 years old to 59 years who would be the candidates of the real workers.

The Effect of Auricular Acupuncture Therapy on Blood Pressure (이침시술이 혈압에 미치는 영향)

  • Objectives : Hypertension is very prevalent disease, and causes serious cardiovascular complications. Nowadays optimal hypertension treatment is emphasized to reduce the incidence of cardiovascular complications. Auricular acupuncture therapy is economical, safe and effective. Its clinical application is various, and it can be used to control blood pressure. So The effect of auricular acupuncture therapy was investigated. Daily variation of blood pressure during needle-embedded period and variation of blood pressure by blood pressure classification were observed. Methods : The auricular acupuncture points we used were Gangapjeom (降壓點), Sinmun (神門), Gyogam (交感), Sim(心), and Icheom (耳尖). Auricular acupuncture needles were embedded for three days. Blood pressure was checked four times per day and the mean obtained. Results : The following results were obtained : 1. During needle-embedded period, systolic and diastolic blood pressure decreased. Blood pressure decreased most significantly 2 days after treatment. 2. The change of blood pressure in the higher blood pressure group was more remarkable than that of the lower blood pressure group. Conclusions : Through this research, auricular acupuncture therapy is considered as an effective and safe method to lower blood pressure.

Effect of Heat Treatment on the Mechanical Properties of a Ti-15Mo-3Nb-3Al-0.2Si Alloy (β-type Ti-14Mo-3Nb-3Al-0.2Si 합금의 열처리 조건에 따른 기계적 특성)

  • The mechanical properties of the various heat treatment conditions on Ti-15Mo-3Nb-3Al-0.2Si alloy plates were examined. XRD patterns from the surface of Ti-15Mo-3Nb-3Al-0.2Si were analyzed as a solution-treated Ti alloy has the single-phase ${\beta}$ structure whereas the aged Ti alloys have the ${\beta}$ matrix embedded with ${\alpha}$ needles. High strength (~1500 MPa) with decent ductility (7%) was obtained by the Ti alloy double aged at $300^{\circ}C$ and $520^{\circ}C$ for 8 hours each. The double-aged alloy exhibits the finer structure than the single-aged alloy at $300^{\circ}C$ for 8 hours because of the higher nucleation rate of ${\alpha}$ needles at an initial low aging temperature ($320^{\circ}C$). TEM observation revealed that the fine nanostructure with ${\alpha}$ needles in the ${\beta}$ matrix ensured the excellent mechanical properties in the double aged Ti-15Mo-3Nb-3Al-0.2Si alloy. In the solution treated alloy, the yield drop, stress-serrations and the ductility minimum typically associated with dynamic strain aging can be attributed to the dynamic interaction between dislocations and oxygen atoms. The yield drop and the stress serration were not observed in aged samples because the geometrically introduced dislocations due to phase precipitates suppressed the dynamic strain aging.

Development of Prussian Blue-laden Magnetic Janus Micro-adsorbents for Remediation of Cs+ Ions in Wastewater (프러시안 블루가 함입된 자성 야누스 미세 흡착제 개발 및 이를 이용한 폐수 내 세슘정화)

  • Here, we develop a centrifugal microfluidic reactor with simple, fast, and high-throughput manner for the generation of magnetic Janus micro-adsorbents (MAs). By using the multi-micronozzle consisting of two separate aligned needles and centrifugal tubes, we have synthesized highly monodispersed Prussian blue- and magnetic nanoparticle-laden micro-adsorbents (PB-MNP-MAs). The enhanced cesium (Cs+) adsorption was demonstrated by conducting the adsorption isotherm and kinetics experiment which can be contributed to the porous nature of the Ca-alginate networks with a high surface area of embedded PB nanoparticles, resulting to perform rapid adsorption activity within 10 min. After Cs+ adsorption process, the as-synthesized PB-MNP-MAs were successfully harvested by introducing the external magnetic fields. Therefore, we believe that our findings can be provided new direction towards the development of advanced functional adsorbents in biological and environmental fields.
