The Study on the Effect of Elevator Movement on the Pressure Difference between Vestibule and Living room in High-rise Buildings (초고층 건축물에서 엘리베이터 구동이 부속실과 화재실 간 차압형성에 미치는 영향연구)

  • Recently, there have been a lot of casualties due to fires in high-rise buildings. The toxic gases and smokes generated by fires in high-rise buildings spread rapidly through the elevator shaft and stairwell, due to the stack effect, and can cause critical casualties. To reduce the number of casualties, smoke control systems have been introduced. Smoke control systems play an essential role in preventing the spread of smoke in high-rise buildings and securing the evacuation route. Also, in high-rise buildings, evacuation by an elevator is considered to be indispensable. However, the pressure field in the shaft is strongly disturbed when the elevator is moving and this can affect the performance of the smoke control system. Therefore, in this study, we experimentally and numerically analyzed the effect of elevator movement on the pressure difference between the vestibule and living room by building a model using the sandwich pressurization method based on the performance based design. To consider the leakage areas in high-rise buildings, e.g. the windows, fire door and elevator, the National Fire Safety Codes and area ratio were used. The elevator speed in the model building was varied between 20 m/s and 100 m/s corresponding to a real elevator speed of 7 m/s~17 m/s. As a result, the relationship between the pressure difference and elevator speed was found to be ${\Delta}P=40{\cdot}{\exp}$(-Ves /-104.7)-23.735. This result can be used to take into consideration the effect of elevator movement when designing smoke control systems.

  • Elevator system requires position and speed control at the same time recently. The control device of existing Elevator system making hardware is simplified by using micro-processor that have been developed. In this papers, it consists of contactless logic circuit using miro-processor and digital components. This paper shows that as this system control voltage and frequency using PWM inverter at the same time, speed control is accurate, acceleration and deceleration is soft and passengers can be feel comfortably because speed change is a little during driving.

  • Now there is utilization of elevator increasing continuously, it is one of electrical facilities taking a serious view safety. However, elevator comfortable ride is researched generally Recently aging condition, equipment life, malfunction, other applicancies of power electronics and equipment disturbance effect on power quality and prevention measures are much researches in advanced nation. but awareness is lacking real condition up to now in domestic. Voltage sag, swell, harmonics, surge etc of elevator system is important problem about human safety. and there are many quality compensation to solve these problem of elevator. So to evaluate these problem, in this paper, displayed result through computer simulation for converter of problem, and inverter part by power quality problem in power distribution system.

  • In this paper, a predictive fuzzy control algorithm to supervise the elevator system with plural elevator cars is proposed and its performance is evaluated. Elevator group controller must decide the service elevator for a registered hall call to satisfy the multiple control objects. The proposed group control algorithm ensures the efficient operations of the group cars and provides the improved level of service, coping with multiple control objects and uncertainty of system state. The feasibility of the proposed control algorithm is evaluated by simulation on computer.

  • Top-down construction is a useful method of utilizing the working space, economic benefits and shorten the construction period. Precision construction of the elevator core is very important for safety of the top-down structure. In this study, the layout system for the field-BIM(Building Information Modeling) was used to precisely construct the elevator core in the basement and the ground. Through the layout system, it was possible to process the construction status, review the design results and construction errors, and confirm whether there is or not within the construction error range for elevator installation.

  • Recently, the elevator industry in Korea has been divided into the high speed elevator market and medium-low speed elevator market, and SMEs are making rapid progress in the medium-low speed fields. Usually, since the elevator manufacturer receives an order for installation after the construction of the building structure, it is necessary to promptly create a optimal elevator model and layout drawing in an earlier stage of sales activity due to the limited time to elevator installation. This study analyzes the sale and design works of the elevator SMEs, examines the areas that can be efficiently improved, and integrates the preceding our studies from the viewpoint of efficiency improvements at sales and design business process in the elevator industry. After that, we proposed an integrated framework of sales and design process for the elevator SMEs industry, and developed a prototype software system for automating the creation of optimal elevator model, layout drawing of elevator and BOM(Bill Of Material) list.

  • To operate a large structure or a high-rise building, elevator is essential. Nevertheless, elevator breakdowns or accidents have been consistently reported. When the accidents are not serious, the records are not reported and cumulated in the Korea Elevator Safety Agency. Additionally, in case of replacement or repair of the parts of elevator, conflicts about the person responsible for the expense of the replacement or repair are frequently occurred. However the record of accidents is not decreasing and the conflict about the fund of elevator repair is serious. So, it is needed to reduce the elevator accidents or malfunction, the operation stop of the elevator, the conflict between building owners and users. Therefore, in this study, the elevator maintenance procedures during defect liability period, the notification procedure in case of breakdown or accident elevator, the direction of elevator maintenance contracts, the direction of the elevator inspection were suggested.

  • In recent years, the government's urban housing expansion policy has resulted in increased construction and remodeling work of residential houses and apartments, causing more industrial accidents at elevator installation sites. Typically, accidents occur during the installation and dismantling of work scaffolds inside the hoistways or using non-standardized work scaffolds due to their structural instability. In view of this, the present study deals with the development of a standardized elevator system scaffolding that can be safely installed outside the hoistway, securing the work platform inside the hoistway. An improved version of the scaffolding system eliminates the need to enter the hoistway for the scaffolding installation, thereby preventing accidents.

  • This paper suggests a preceding study to introduce implementing problems and improving direction when commercializing a ropeless elevator. In this study, the implementation of the study of pilot systems in order to produce the ropeless elevator and also build a linear velocity sensor, this system is applied to the speed control experiment was investigated through testing. Speed control test is carried out in all track including a curved section. This study verified the feasibility of the ropeless elevator and its drive controller is good enough to be accepted. This study also extracted many more problems that still need to be improved in the future for commercializing such as the sensor, high-performance controller, precision structures, safety devices, efficiency improvements and so on.

  • This paper proposes an initial rotor position detecting algorithm of a PM synchronous motor using an incremental encoder. The proposed algorithm estimates the phase offset between the rotor magnetic flux and the Z-pulse of the incremental encoder by applying six aligning mode current control. The absolute rotor position for driving a PM synchronous motor is calculated by using the phase offset of the Z pulse and A, B pulse signals of the encoder. The PMSM drives based on the estimated rotor position is applied to the elevator door system. The door length is measured on line at first setup of the elevator. The speed control for open, close, and reopen of the elevator door is also presented and the proposed algorithm for the elevator door system is verified by experiment.
