Validation of Availability, Maintainability and Safety for Subway Elevating Equipment (도시철도 승강설비의 가용성, 유지보수성 및 안전성 입증)

  • Purpose: In order to fulfill the RAMS (Reliability Availability Maintainability and Safety) requirements in Korean railway systems, specific target metrics should be measured and met the requirements when ordering a new system. This paper presents a procedure to predict and demonstrate the availability, maintainability and safety of subway elevators, escalators and PSD (platform screen doors) systems. Methods: The system manufacturer predicts availability and maintainability with lab and field tested data. After installation, availability and maintainability are demonstrated based on the actual operational data. The data was collected from the FRACAS (Failure Report and Corrective Action System). Results: Methods and process of assessing and analyzing the availability, maintainability and safety are presented for elevating services and PSD systems. The data obtained through the actual operation of the equipment is analyzed and maintained to predict the RAMS based on the component and system level failure data acquired. Conclusion: This study presented an application using IEC 62278 and operational data which can be used in the design and development stage to achieve the RAMS target value of the subway elevators, escalators and PSD systems.

New Thyroplasty Technique Using Balloon Catheter (풍선도관을 이용한 새로운 갑상성형술의 제안)

  • Background and Objectives: Silicone, Gore- Tex, Gelfoam, Collagen and autologous fat are used for thyroplasty in case of vocal fold paralysis or paresis. These implants have many advantages, such as biocompatibility, low price and easy handling and accessibility. But additional voice modification is impossible using these materials. So, we design new thyroplasty technique, called balloon thyroplasty using Foley catheter. Materal and Methods: The fresh human larynx was dissected in midline posteriorly. Minithyrotomy hole was created using 5mm cutting burr in the midline of thyroid cartilage. Subperichondrial dissection was done using Duckbill elevator up to vocal process. Balloon catheter(1.5cm balloon size) was inserted through the subperichondrial tunnel. The balloon was inflated to medialize the vocal cord. Results: After ballooning, the true vocal cord medialized mimicking thyroplasty. Conclusion: The authors found that Balloon thyroplasty could be a good candidate for vocal fold medialization technique. The technical refinement and in vivo safety are reserved for the ongoing study.

  • Housing is the most important factor for the elderly and the disabled to live safely and independently. If they want to stay in their familiar community as long as possible, to support their stay in their house must be needed. The purpose of this study was to investigate the housing alterations for the elderly and the disabled. To accomplish the purpose of this study, three cases that had altered housing to fit their needs in three countries, were selected. In Korean case of alterations for the disabled, bathroom and kitchen were the altered spaces in the house. But active alterations were not done, because of the limited expense for the alterations and housing ownership, rented. In one case of housing construction for the elderly in Japan, there was no level difference in the interior. Two bedrooms were provided for the husband and the wife, because of the difference of time to bed. The sunroom for enjoying the outside of the nature was provided. In swedish case, due to the supports of the government and local authority, the house was altered at many spaces such as bathroom, kitchen, ramp at the entrance, elevator and so forth. In conclusion, sufficient supports of government and community services can increase the housing quality of people. The ultimate goal of housing alterations must be done not for the elderly and disabled but for all people.

Pitch-axis Maneuver of UAVs by Adaptive Control Approach (무인항공기의 적응제어 법칙을 이용한 피치 기동 연구)

  • This study addresses adaptive control of UAVs(Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) pitch-axis maneuver. The MRAC(Model Referenced Adaptive Control) approach is employed to accommodate uncertainties which are introduced by feedback linearization of pitch attitude control by elevator input. The model uncertainty is handled by adaptation laws which update model parameters while the UAV is under control by the feedback control law. Steady-state pitch attitude achieved by the stabilizing control law is derived to provide insight on the closed-loop behavior of the controlled system. The proposed idea is free of linearization, gain-scheduling procedures, so that one can design high maneuverability of UAVs for pitching motion in the presence of significant model uncertainty.

  • 본 논문은 SLAM 기술로 3D 매핑하고 태양광 발전기 패널 표면의 오염영역을 파악하여 청소하는 자율비행 드론에 대한 연구이다. 본 프로젝트에서 구현된 드론은 SLAM 기술을 활용하여 3D 매핑과 ROS Topic 통신으로 자율비행을 하면서 카메라로 촬영한 영상에서 태양광 발전기 패널을 파악하고 패널에 있는 얇은 먼지막을 프로펠러에 의하여 발생하는 바람으로 제거한다. 그리고 열화상 카메라로 확인된 고오염 또는 고장으로 인한 발열 부분에 페인트 볼을 떨어트려 시각적으로 표시하고 관리자에게 능동적으로 알린다. 이로 인해 제안된 방법에 따라 넓은 영역에 분포된 다수의 태양광 발전기 패널의 오염정도를 쉽게 파악하고 저오염 영역의 즉각적인 청소 및 고오염 영역의 빠른 보고로 인하여 전반적인 태양광 발전 효율을 제고할 수 있으며, 수동으로 이루어지는 인력 관리에 비하여 오염지역 파악 및 제거 시간이 보다 빠르고 정확하게 이루어질 수 있다.

  • Sprinkler system is the most effective fire suppression with high confidence among active fire extinguishing systems. According to the installation of the related system on buildings, more separation area of fire protection can be considered to the fire protection design, and also lower differential pressure (12.5 Pascal) is permitted on lobby of fire escape stairs and emergency elevator (25 Pascal shall be considered for none sprinkler system) with economic factor. More details will be handled on the related studies.

  • The purpose of the study is to survey the effective methodology of composition and connection for the third pedestrian routes in mixed-use building by case studies. The study is performed as follows: First of all, pedestrian routes are classified into malling route, evacuation route, and the Third route. Secondly, case studies are conducted based on the classification. Thirdly, it is investigated about the composition and connection of the malling and the Third pedestrian route. The investigation is focused on gate, path, central area, vertical circulation(EV and escalator) and the four circulation elements. Finally, the effective methodology is extracted for setting the Third route in mixed-use buildings. The conclusion of the study is as follows: The enhancement of consistency and connection between the main route and the Third route is important for providing convenient paths especially to users who needs shortcut, EV/ES users. Additionally, the connections between EV and gate, between shortcut and EV/ES should be increased to enable users choosing their path as needed.

Integrated control of an air-breathing hypersonic vehicle considering the safety of propulsion system

  • This paper investigates the integrated control of an air-breathing hypersonic vehicle considering the safety of propulsion system under acceleration. First, the vehicle/engine coupling model that contains a control-oriented vehicle model and a quasi-one-dimensional dual-mode scramjet model is established. Next, the coupling process of the integrated control system is introduced in detail. Based on the coupling model, the integrated control framework is studied and an integrated control system including acceleration command generator, vehicle attitude control loop and engine multivariable control loop is discussed. Then, the effectiveness and superiority of the integrated control system are verified through the comparison of normal case and limiting case of an air-breathing hypersonic scramjet coupling model. Finally, the main results show that under normal acceleration case and limiting acceleration case, the integrated control system can track the altitude and speed of the vehicle extremely well and adjust the angle deflection of elevator to offset the thrust moment to maintain the attitude stability of the vehicle, while assigning the two-stage fuel equivalent ratio to meet the thrust performance and safety margin of the engine. Meanwhile, the high-acceleration requirement of the air-breathing hypersonic vehicle makes the propulsion system operating closer to the extreme dangerous conditions. The above contents demonstrate that considering the propulsion system safety will make integrated control system more real and meaningful.

The Influence of Media Advertisements on Forming a Positive Image of Vocational Colleges : A Focus on New Students at K Vocational College in the Jeonbuk (매체별 광고가 전문대학에 대한 긍정적 이미지 형성에 미치는 영향 : 전북지역 K전문대학 신입생을 중심으로)

  • This study aimed to investigate the extent to which media advertisements conducted by vocational colleges (such as SNS, banners, university information boards in high schools, terminal advertisements, local daily newspaper advertisements, and elevator video advertisements) influence the formation of a positive image of the college among incoming students. To this end, a total of 430 freshmen at K Vocational College in Jeonbuk were asked about the frequency of their exposure to the college's media advertisements for each type of media. Additionally, they were asked about the impact these advertisements had on forming a positive image of the college, and the results were analyzed accordingly. The frequency of exposure to the advertisements was measured to verify the exposure effect of the advertisements themselves. To determine the impact of the frequency of exposure to each type of media on the formation of a positive image, correlation analysis and regression analysis were conducted. The key findings are as follows: First, while there were differences in the frequently encountered media among different age groups, banners and SNS advertisements were the most frequently encountered when considering all age groups collectively. Second, regarding the impact of the frequency of exposure to each type of media on the formation of a positive image of the college, elevator advertisements had the most significant effect, followed by banner advertisements. The purpose of this study is to aid in the formulation of the college's promotional strategies, with the expectation that the college will achieve better results through more efficient advertising.

A Study on the Hierarchy and Relationship in Spatial Configuration of Nursing Homes for the Elderly (노인요양시설의 공간구조적 위계 및 연결관계에 관한 연구)

  • As the elderly population are rapidly growing, the elderly who needs special care and nursing homes for them are also growing. However, many nursing homes were planned without considering the hierarchial space organization such as division of housing unit and nursing unit based on the cognitive and behavioral characteristics of the elderly or accessibility and supportiveness of the staff. This study was to examine the hierarchial characteristics in space organization of nursing homes by using Space Syntax. The subjects were 8 nursing homes in Busan. First, spaces in nursing homes were divided into five areas based on the literature review. Then the hierarchy of space organization for the access layer and layers of living floors was grasped by using G-graph. The access layer has a tree-type hierarchical structure and high visuality. Also, average depth of the space was 5. Then the full integration was analyzed. Mobile area, such as elevator, hallways, or living rooms has a high accessibility and the middle corridor type has commonly been characterized. The nursing stations were analyzed through the control degree and it was low in three nursing homes such as B, C, and G. The low clarity was showed in B, D, and F. The low clarity means that it is relatively difficult to recognize the whole space organization of nursing home. Even though the hierarchy of their living floors was tree-type structure with a high visuality, they has a type of grouping spaces around hallways and spreading, or a ring type.
