Purpose: To investigate the effect of heel elevation on the radiographic parameters of the forefoot. Materials and Methods: Forty feet in twenty-one adults were studied. Weight bearing dorsoplantar radiograph was taken with the foot on a flat surface and with the heel of the foot elevated by 5cm. Various parameters were measured and compared between the results with and without heel elevation. Result: The hallux valgus angle was increased by $5.0{\pm}3.5$ degrees with heel elevation and the change was statistically significant(p<0.01). There was no statistically significant changes in the other parameters. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that high-heeled shoes might contribute in causing or aggravating the degrees of the hallux valgus.
A wideband beamforming algorithm for estimating the azimuth angle, elevation angle, velocity, and range using a planar phased radar array with antenna switching is proposed. It uses the time-variant steering vector model. Simulation results illustrating the performance of the proposed beamformer are presented.

Background: Ipsilateral pelvic elevation has been reported as a common compensatory movement during side-lying hip abduction. It has been reported that pelvic elevation inhibits sufficient contraction of gluteus medius. However, few studies have identified the effects of controlled pelvic elevation on the trunk and hip muscles. Objective: To examine the effects of controlled pelvic elevation using visual biofeedback on the muscle activity of the trunk and hip muscles. Design: Crossover study. Methods: Twelve healthy males performed side-lying hip abduction exercises with and without visual biofeedback for pelvic elevation. Electromyography (EMG) activities of the gluteus medius, quadratus lumborum, and multifidus were analyzed using a wireless EMG system while the ipsilateral pelvic elevation angle was measured using a motion sensor during side-lying hip abduction exercises. Results: EMG activities of the gluteus medius (p = .002), quadratus lumborum (p = .022), and multifidus (p = .020) were significantly increased and ipsilateral pelvic elevation was significantly decreased (p = .001) during side-lying hip abduction with visual biofeedback compared to without visual biofeedback. Conclusions: The results of this study suggest that the application of biofeedback for pelvic motion could improve the trunk and hip muscle activation pattern and decrease compensatory pelvic motion during side-lying hip abduction exercise.
A computationally efficient algorithm is presented for 3-D near-field source localization using a uniform circular away (UCA). Algebraic relations are demonstrated between the incident angles (elevation angle and azimuth angle) under the far-field assumption and the actual near-field location (range. elevation angle, and azimuth angle). Using these relations as paths to follow to the peak of the 3-D MUSIC spectrum, the proposed algorithm replaces the 3-D search required in the conventional 3-D MUSIC with a 1-D path following after a 2-D initialization. thereby reducing the computational burden.

In this paper, it is represented that equations for design of linear interferometer antenna when the 3 dB beamwidth is only region of interest. Using the equations, relationships between angle measurement ambiguity and element antenna spacings are described. And then, operating frequency, angle measurement accuracy, beamwidth, correct measurement probability are calculated for five antennas interferometer to measure azimuth and elevation angle. The interferometer antenna was designed and fabricated using the calculated parameters. The angle measurement accuracy were $0.01^{\circ}$ and $0.016^{\circ}$ for azimuth and elevation axes with 99 % probability of doing measurements correctly which means that ambiguous solution did not occur more than 1 % of the time. These results validated the equations and design procedures.
Background: We have devised a novel surgical method, termed as temporalis muscle tendonperiosteum (T-P) compound surgical method, by modifying pre-existing techniques. Our method is characterized by elevation of temporalis muscle tendon and the periosteum of the mandibular ramus as a single compound. Here, we describe the concept and clinical outcomes of our method. Methods: We conducted both a cadaveric study and a clinical study. First, we used four human cadavers (two males and two females) to confirm the anatomy of the temporalis muscle tendon and availability of sufficient length extension through the elevation of the T-P compound. Moreover, we obtained measurements of the mouth angle and the philtrum angle from a total of six patients (two males and four females) and compared them between preoperatively and postoperatively. Results: The mean length of the periosteal portion was measured as 2.43± 0.15 cm (range, 2.2-2.6 cm). There was an improvement in the mouth angle postoperatively as compared with preoperatively (7.2°± 3.0° vs. 14.5°± 4.7°, respectively). Moreover, there was also an improvement in the philtrum angle postoperatively as compared with preoperatively (7.2°± 3.4° vs. 17.2°± 6.5°, respectively). Conclusion: Our method is a simple, minimally-invasive modality that is effective in achieving good clinical outcomes. Its advantages include an ability to achieve a firm extension of the temporalis muscle tendon as well as a lack of requirement for a donor site that may cause complications.

Building change monitoring based on building detection is one of the most important fields in terms of monitoring artificial structures using high-resolution multi-temporal images such as CAS500-1 and 2, which are scheduled to be launched. However, not only the various shapes and sizes of buildings located on the surface of the Earth, but also the shadows or trees around them make it difficult to detect the buildings accurately. Also, a large number of misdetection are caused by relief displacement according to the azimuth and elevation angles of the platform. In this study, object-based building detection was performed using the azimuth angle of the Sun and the corresponding main direction of shadows to improve the results of building change detection. After that, the platform's azimuth and elevation angles were used to detect changed buildings. The object-based segmentation was performed on a high-resolution imagery, and then shadow objects were classified through the shadow intensity, and feature information such as rectangular fit, Gray-Level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM) homogeneity and area of each object were calculated for building candidate detection. Then, the final buildings were detected using the direction and distance relationship between the center of building candidate object and its shadow according to the azimuth angle of the Sun. A total of three methods were proposed for the building change detection between building objects detected in each image: simple overlay between objects, comparison of the object sizes according to the elevation angle of the platform, and consideration of direction between objects according to the azimuth angle of the platform. In this study, residential area was selected as study area using high-resolution imagery acquired from KOMPSAT-3 and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). Experimental results have shown that F1-scores of building detection results detected using feature information were 0.488 and 0.696 respectively in KOMPSAT-3 image and UAV image, whereas F1-scores of building detection results considering shadows were 0.876 and 0.867, respectively, indicating that the accuracy of building detection method considering shadows is higher. Also among the three proposed building change detection methods, the F1-score of the consideration of direction between objects according to the azimuth angles was the highest at 0.891.
Recently, many high elevation fountain are constructed for the beauty of beach landscape. Typically, a fountain has several nozzles that shoots water upwards or at an angle into the air. But unfortunately, the weather and wind can cause the water soak nearby walkways and pedestrians. Therefore, in this study, a mathematical model of high elevation fountain is suggested to predict the actual travelling distance of water droplet by the wind. To simplify our treatment of the water flow and to avoid issues such as fluid dynamics and surface tension, we have adopted a particle model for the fountain water. The particles are assumed not to interact with each other, and do not deform during their flight through air.
This paper presents a method to overcome the problem of increasing elevation estimation error when estimating elevation in a multipath situation with radar. A multipath situation means that radar reception signals reflected from the same target come from multiple paths. In non-multipath, the monopulse method is accurate. For the opposite case, the least square error method is accurate. In multipath situation and when the elevation angle is very low, a singular occurs where the least square error estimate diverges. This singular was identified based on the propagation factor, and monopulse and least square error estimation methods were selectively used. As a result, we succeeded in increasing the accuracy of elevation estimation. MATLAB simulations were performed to verify the method proposed in this paper.

This Study is about the Axis used for creating forms of interior spaces in representative works of Peter Eisenman architecture. The plans, elevations, photos of interior spaces of his architecture were collected and analysed. In conclusion, the methods using axises were classified in the axises crossing right angle and the rotating axises crossing right angle. The rotating axis were divided into one-angle rotating and multi-angle rotating. The axises were rotated on the plan or rotated on the elevation. The axises crossing right angle were used for dividing, assembling, transforming and composing different proportions of rectangles in interior spaces. The rotating axises crossing right angle were used for creating divers forms such as triangle, quadrilateral, and polygon. The one-angle rotating emphasizes directions of axises in interior spaces. The multi-angle rotating emphasizes decentered directions in interior spaces. The parts created while crossing axises three-dimensionally were opened or filled. The axises were used dynamically and three-dimensionally for diversity of forms in interior spaces of Peter Eisenman architecture.
