  • When implementing a hardware elliptic curve cryptosystem (ECC) module, the efficient design of Modular Inverse (MI) algorithm is especially important since it requires much more computation than other finite field operations in ECC. Among the MI algorithms, binary Right-Shift modular inverse (RS) algorithm has good performance when implemented in hardware, but Montgomery Modular Inverse (MMI) algorithm is not considered in [1, 2]. Since MMI has a similar structure to that of RS, we show that the area-improvement idea that is applied to RS is applicable to MMI, and that we can improve the speed of MMI. We designed area- and speed-improved MMI variants as hardware modules and analyzed their performance.

  • The reason why visual fatigue occurs while watching 3D TV is because the left/right images of the fixed disparity are played. This paper proposes a measuring method of pupil distance and the 3D location of a viewer using stereo camera modules, and a reflection method of the data into 3D TV.

  • Long-term stability of dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) module is critical for the commercialization. We investigated the effect of sealing technology on the long-term stability of the $10cm{\times}11cm$ sized DSSC modules. We applied the concept of secondary sealing to the module and then performed several stability tests such as humidity cycle, 1 sun light soaking and outdoor stability tests. The enhanced stability was confirmed for the DSSC module employing optimized sealing materials and architectures.

  • Recently PDA(Personal Digital Assistance) can be purchased at a lower cost than ever before. Therefore, it can be effectively used in various ways such as a personal information management system and wireless mobile internet application. Manufacturers of PDA try to develope various application modules for its extensive utilizations. In this work, a CF typed GPS and data logger module for PDA is designed. It can give us valuable informations about the precise position of measuring site and corresponding sensor values. The proposed CF module can make it possible for PDA to be used as a hand-held measurement device.

  • In this paper, we introduce the concept and construction of a web-based bidirectional remote laboratory system. In this configuration, students build and test circuits using internet at home, and the circuit components and experimental equipments at the school are interconnected following student's design. This means that it is possible to choose components, build circuits, connect experiment equipments, control the equipment. and receive measurement results at home in real-time. Labview and Java are used to control this system efficiently and to provide user-friendly environments. Computer-based function generator, DMM, and oscilloscope are used and switch module is used to change interconnections. It was found that a system adopting computer-based instruments, which include PXI/CompactPCI modules and PC plug-in board, provide better performance than that adopting stand-alone instruments connected with GPIB. It is believed that, if this system is installed, the real experiments, not the virtual experiments based on simulation, can be done at home effectively, resulting in revolutional change in engineering education.

  • In RF application of resonator, cylinerical and transmission line(TRL) type are used generally, especially in ceramic modules the latter is used widely, TRL type resonators are used in VCO and RF filters etc.. TRL type resonators are divided stripline and microstripline and their characteristics depend on that of conductor and dielectric materials. In this study, the effect of material properties on the stripline resonator is measured and analyzed. Besides, the optimum design rule of resonator is presented.

  • Stator tooth segmentation and back-iron segmentation is key solution to easing the burden of manufacturing process of permanent magnet synchronous motor. The purpose of this paper is the design and characteristic analysis of permanent magnet synchronous motor having the segmented phase modular stators. Using by two-dimensional finite element method, the static/no-load characteristic analysis of the permanent magnet synchronous motor is performed. The analysis has been performed considering the additional air gaps between stator modules. The analysis results were experimentally verified, and the validity of the proposed analysis method and feasibility of the machine was confirmed.

  • As microelectronics technology continues to progress, there is also a continuous demand on highly integration and miniaturization of systems. For example, it is desirable to package several integrated circuits together in multilayer structure, such as multichip modules, to achieve higher levels of compactness and higher performance. Passive components (i.e., capacitors, resistors, and inductors) are very important fort many MCM applications. In addition, the low-temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) process has considerable potential for embedding passive components in a small area at a low cost. In this paper, we investigate a method of statistically modeling integrated passive devices from just a small number of test structures. A set of LTCC inductors is fabricated and their scattering parameters (s-parameters) are measured for a range of frequencies from 50MHz to 5GHz. An accurate model for each test structure is obtained by using a building block based modeling methodology and circuit parameter optimization using the HSPICE circuit simulator.
