  • The way we work is changing significantly with the rapid development of digitaltechnology, and paper documents are being replaced by electronic documents. However, in accordance with the Enforcement Decree and Enforcement Regulation of the Environmental Impact Assessment Act, the environmental impact assessment report must submit a set number of paper reports to organizations related to the project, and about 42 years have passed since it was submitted as a paperreport. In 2022, the National Institute of Ecology introduced a system to review paperreports as electronic documents in line with the trend of digital transformation. The cost reduction and carbon emission reduction effects of electronic document review were analyzed for 1,398 environmental impact assessments submitted and reviewed in 2022. In addition, a satisfaction survey was conducted targeting type 1 environmental impact assessment companies that were directly affected, and a total of 134 people responded. As a result of analyzing the effect of reviewing electronic documents, costs are reduced by a total of 101,424,900 won per year and carbon emissions are reduced by about 59.7 tons. As a result of the satisfaction survey, 94.8% of the respondents said electronic documentreview was very helpful, and 4.5% said it was helpful. The effectiveness of electronic documentreview was high, with 94.8% of respondents saying it was helpful in economic terms and 91.8% saying it was helpful in reducing work hours. If electronic documents are reviewed through the revisions to the Enforcement Decree and Enforcement Regulation of the Environmental Impact Assessment Act, the implementation of electronic document review is expected to have a ripple effect across the country, not only reducing costs and carbon emissions, but also reducing administrative time and saving storage space. Rapid changes in law and administration are needed to adapt to the digital transformation era.

  • To classify desired and undesired documents on the web according to each user's view, FOCUS (Fuzzy dOCUment ordering System) is developed based on fuzzy concept extraction, fuzzy fish eye matching, and fuzzy selection. Experiments are done using the concept-system-dictionary by EDR (Electronic Dictionary Research Institute) including 140,000 words and web-based documents related to movie.

또한 EDI(Electronic data Interchange)에서도 XML을 사용한 문서 교환이 활발하게 이용되고 있다.

  • Electronic record types are becoming diverse, and "composite electronic records," which are made up of various types of electronic records associated with functionality or user interaction that does not exist in current electronic document formats, are increasing. To ensure a continuous access to composite electronic records, metadata construction is a prerequisite for electronic records archiving. In this paper, we propose a metadata that can support archiving of composite electronic records associated with interactive functionality. The common elements were derived from an analysis of both domestic and international file format registry projects, and metadata elements related to functional requirements were identified from the analysis of the records on nursing education e-learning contents. We proposed the metadata elements for archiving composite electronic records, which consist of 25 high-level elements and 138 subelements.

  • As XBRL applications for sharing the contents and semantics of business reports get activated, it is increasingly necessary to reuse components systematically by the standardization in the national level. The current standardization of Korean electronic documents follows the "Guideline for XML Documents Development", which aims to maximize the reusability of components by providing a business library as well as the UN/CEFACT core components methodology. XBRL takes the same approach with the standardization of electronic documents in that their components (concepts and their structures) are defined using XSD. In XBRL, however, concept are restricted to specific types and diverse relationship types can be defined for associating the concepts to themselves and other additional information. As a result, there are some issues that may not be solved by just applying the guideline to XBRL. This paper presents a basic method for applying the methodology to XBRL applications in order to realize the systematic reusing and standardization of XBRL documents in the national level. For case analysis, FSS (Financial Supervisory Service) income statement is employed to demonstrate the possibility of the method.

  • With the growth of World Wide Web, multimedia electronic documents have been frequently used in a lot of applications. Especially, digital libraries tliat deal with huge and various multimedia electronic documents need to support efficient searcli techniques and systematical management techniques. In this paper, we suggest an extended Dublin Core metadata to store and search the multimedia electronic documents managed at digital libraries. We also design a document database schema based on the extended Dublin Core metadata and implement a svstem, called xD-MMS which manages the multimedia electronic documents.

  • This paper addresses issues related to the design of an interface supporting fine grained interaction with documents, focusing on a particular type of scholarly documents, journal articles. In order to make a usable interface we need to understand user behaviors as well as technologies that present new possibilities of enhancing user experience. This paper reviews studies along three dimensions : user information behavior in searching/using documents, new conceptual/technical models for electronic documents, and interaction mechanisms. Putting together the understanding of users and enabling technologies, requirements and considerations in developing systems with granular interactions are discussed in the conclusion.

  • When migrate electronic records, the validation of the required metadata in electronic records and verified with the metadata in the document are also important. This paper presents a method and implements a tool to extract data from files in various formats and use them to validate metadata associated with the files in electronic records. Compared to other metadata extraction tools, especially developed in foreign countries, the standard form of documents used in Korean government is taken into account and metadata is extracted from the content of files. The tool compares the extracted data to encapsulated metadata for validation.
