A Design of Varactor-Tuned Combline Bandpass Filter Using Coupling Varactor Diode

  • In this paper, a novel varactor-tuned combline bandpass filter is presented. The coupling varactor diode between line elements is introduced to control the passband bandwidth so that the passband bandwidth can be maintained almost constant within the tuning range. The equivalent circuit and design equations are derived, and the optimum design is discussed. A 1.7 GHz, two-pole bandpass filter with a bandwidth of $4.5\%$ was constructed. The absolute passband bandwidth was maintained almost constant within more than 0.4 octave tuning range.

  • This article deals with the analysis of a coupling between stationary Maxwell's equations, the transient state Navier-Stokes and thermal equations. The resolution of these equations is obtained by introducing the magnetic vector potential A, the vorticity ${\xi}$, the stream function ${\psi}$ and the temperature T. The flux density, the electromagnetic thrust, the electric power density, the velocity, the pressure and the temperature are graphically visualized. Also, the influence of the frequency is presented.

  • In this paper we analysis DC bus voltage stress at high line voltage and light load in $S^4$-PFC Isolated AC/DC converter with DC bus voltage feedback using coupling in transformer. In this converter, the principle of operation and the practical problems in the design are considered. Simulation and experimental results are presented to verify the operation and performance of the $S^4$-PFC converter with DC bus voltage feedback. Experimental sets are performed in the conditions; switching frequency 100 kHz, output of 5 V, 60W, and universal line input voltage.

  • In this paper, we developed remote dimming control system of electronic ballast for 400W metal halide lamp. This ballast could limit ignition current and soft start-up technique by the inverter with LCsCp resonance tank. The dimming circuit can dim from 400W to 200W by varying of the inverter switching frequency. The PLM consists of coupling circuit, BPF(Band-Pass Filter), FSK(Frequency Shift Keying) Modem and ${\mu}$-controller(Micro Controller). By coupling electronic ballast with PLM, the system that able to dimming the lamp through PLM is demonstrated by experimental results.

  • There are many antenna array errors. They will distort the array beam pattern and result in an increased sidelobe level. A calibration technique is proposed for correcting the antenna array errors such as mutual coupling and unequal feeder characteristics. These are modeled as a matrix representing the interaction between the radiating elements. The matrix is estimated from the measured array response vectors. The antenna array errors are corrected by modifying the beamforming weight vector. It is verified by the electromagnetic simulation and experiment that the proposed technique reduces the sidelobe level and increases the antenna gain.

  • In this paper, a cross-coupled microstrip combline bandpass filter using stepped-impedance resonators(SIRs) is proposed. In order to improve the selectivity as well as the insertion loss, the SIR configuration is used. The cross coupling is also introduced to enhance the selectivity. The improvement of the insertion loss is demonstrated not only by deriving the quality factor of the SIR but through the measured performances. Both the proposed and the conventional combline bandpass filter with 5 % of fractional bandwidth at 2 GHz were fabricated and tested. Compared to the conventional combline bandpass filter, the proposed one exhibits the improved selectivity as well as the lower insertion loss characteristics.

  • Electronic structures of ordered Fe$_3X (X = Al, Si), and their derivative ternary alloys of Fe_2TX (T = 3d transition metal) have been investigated by using the linearized muffin-tin orbital (LMTO) band method. The role of the coupling between substituted transition metal and its neighbors is investigated by calculating the magnetic moments and local density of states (LDOS). It is shown that it is essential to include the coupling beyond nearest neighbors in obtaining the magnetic moment of Fe alloy. The preferential sites of T impurities in Fe_3X are determined from the total energy calculations. The derivative ternary alloys of Fe_2TX have characteristic electronic structures of semi-metal for Fe_2VAI and (nearly) half-metal for Fe_2TAI (T = Cr, Mn) and Fe_2TSi (T = V, Cr, Mn)

  • We first report the GMR effect of new macroscopic ferrimagnet, Co-TbN. The Co-TbN system demonstrates typical macroscopic ferrimagnet properties which are a magnetic compensation Point and negative giant magnetoresistance (GMR) which is caused by the spin scattering contribution quite different from those of ordinary GMR materials. The Co-TbN system with 32 % TbN composition showed 0.72 % GMR in fields up to 8 kOe at room temperature and 9 % GMR at 250 K in 40 kOe. The GMR effect in the Co-TbN system increases with increasing temperature, which is due to the increase of ferromagnetic alignment of the Co and TbN in a field caused by the decrease of exchange coupling by temperature.

Diversity characteristics of four-element ring slot-based MIMO antenna for sub-6-GHz applications

  • This paper proposes four-ring slot resonator-based MIMO antennas of 75×150 mm2 without and with CSRR structures in the sub-6-GHz range. These orthogonal-fed antennas have shown diverse characteristics with dual polarization. L-shaped parasitic structures have increased the isolation (i.e., >40 dB) in the single-element antenna over the band of 3.4 GHz-3.8 GHz. A set of three CSRR structures in the MIMO antenna reduced the coupling between antenna ports placed in an inline arrangement and enhanced the isolation from 12 dB to 20 dB and the diversity characteristics. The S-parameters of both MIMO antennas are measured and used to evaluate MIMO parameters like ECC, TARC, MEG, and channel capacity loss. The simulation results show the variations in the gain and directivity on exciting linear and dual polarizations. The diversity performance of the reported MIMO antennas is suitable for 5G applications.

  • In this paper, we consider an online compensation algorithm considering the mutual coupling and suggest a new GPS antenna array to apply. To evaluate the anti-jamming performance for the proposed antenna array, ULA and URA, we divide direction finding of multiple jamming signals into environments. 1. there is no mutual coupling. 2. there is mutual coupling but no compensation. 3. mutual coupling is compensated. RMSE analysis showed that the online compensation algorithm works and that peak detection is possible for multiple jamming signals.
