In decode and forward relay systems, choosing the duplex mode is an important factor to the performance. To satisfy the performance requirement, self-interference must be mitigated for the full-duplex relay (FDR), and the resource efficiency must be increased for the half-duplex ratio (HDR). Therefore, if a wise scheme to consider these two factors exists, decode and forward relay systems are used more effectively. This study proposes a new duplex selection scheme for decode and forward relay systems. The proposed duplex selection scheme chooses the better duplex mode according to the channel statistical conditions with optimal power allocation. The simulation results show that the proposed duplex scheme with optimal power allocation has lower outage probability than the FDR and the HDR.
At present. distance relay and ${\Delta}I$ current increment relay are used as primary and secondary protection in the AC feeder system. However. electric railway vehicles according to power electronic's development had developed resistance control, thyristor phase control and PWM control system. and operation of train is increasing in a feeder section. Therefore this paper analyzes the load characteristics and situation of relay's maloperation caused by load current increase, harmonics, regenerative braking current and operation of the different vehicles in same feeder section. Based on this analysis. this paper proposes consideration items for relay correction and advanced adaptive relay that can change operation area according to load current.

Relay technology is becoming more important for mobile communications and wireless internet of things (IoT) networking because of the extended access network coverage range and reliable quality of service (QoS) it can provide at low power consumption levels. Existing mobile multihop relay (MMR) technology uses fixed-point stationary relay stations (RSs) and a divided time-frame (or frequency-band) to support the relay operation. This approach has limitations when a local fixed-point stationary RS does not exist. In addition, since the time-frame (or frequency-band) channel resources are pre-divided for the relay operation, there is no way to achieve high channel utilization using intelligent opportunistic techniques. In this paper, a different approach is considered, where the use of mobile/IoT devices as RSs is considered. In applications that use mobile/IoT devices as relay systems, due to the very limited battery energy of a mobile/IoT device and unequal channel conditions to and from the RS, both minimum energy consumption and QoS support must be considered simultaneously in the selection and configuration of RSs. Therefore, in this paper, a mobile RS is selected and configured with the objective of minimizing power consumption while satisfying end-to-end data rate and bit error rate (BER) requirements. For the RS, both downlink (DL) to the destination system (DS) (i.e., IoT device or user equipment (UE)) and uplink (UL) to the base station (BS) need to be adaptively configured (using adaptive modulation and power control) to minimize power consumption while satisfying the end-to-end QoS constraints. This paper proposes a minimum transmission power consuming RS selection and configuration (MPRSC) scheme, where the RS uses cognitive radio (CR) sub-channels when communicating with the DS, and therefore the scheme is named MPRSC-CR. The proposed MPRSC-CR scheme is activated when a DS moves out of the BS's QoS supportive coverage range. In this case, data transmissions between the RS and BS use the assigned primary channel that the DS had been using, and data transmissions between the RS and DS use CR sub-channels. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed MPRSC-CR scheme extends the coverage range of the BS and minimizes the power consumption of the RS through optimal selection and configuration of a RS.

In this paper, we propose the sub-cell reuse partitioning among relays as an efficient resource reuse scheme in the relay-based OFDMA systems. If the frequency resource is reused among relays aggressively, we can increase the cell throughput. However, the interferences due to the frequency reuse may cause the fairness decrease due to the SINR degradation especially at the edge of RS sub-cells. In this paper, to make the cell throughput and fairness performance improved at the same time, we propose a sub-cell reuse partitioning scheme that divides a relay sub-cell into inner zone for aggressive reuse and outer zone for sparse reuse. The performance of the proposed scheme has been analyzed by computer simulation. We also applied a scheduling algorithm that can work together with the proposed sub-cell reuse partitioning scheme. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can improve both the throughput and the fairness performances. In particular, when the scheduling is applied for the improvement of fairness, it is shown that the throughput performance can be enhanced more efficiently by the proposed scheme.

This paper presents a simple resource allocation scheme for throughput enhancement in relay based orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) cellular systems. The resource allocation schemes, which are based on the optimization problem, have high computational complexity. That is why a searching process is required on the overall allocable resources. Since these schemes should be performed in real time, we propose a simple resource allocation scheme which has very low computational complexity. Firstly, we formulate the optimization problem and draw observations for throughput maximization. Based on observations, we propose a three step allocation scheme that separates the allocable resources into three (i.e. relay, frequency and time). By doing so, the computational complexity can be reduced. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme has near-optimum performance in spite of its low computational complexity.

In this paper, estimation methods of cell searching and DoA (Direction of Arrival) for mobile relay stations with a uniform linear array are proposed. The proposed methods can improve the performance of cell searching and DoA estimation by removing the effect of STOs when there exist symbol timing offsets (STOs) between the signals received from adjacent base stations,. Also, the proposed methods can improve the performance of DoA estimation significantly when there exists Doppler frequency shift caused by movement of the mobile relay station. The performances and computational complexities of the proposed cell searching and DoA methods are evaluated by computer simulation under Mobile WiMAX environments.

Satellite communication is a communication method using a satellite as a repeater communication on the air and have a communication range is wide and is possible to transmit high-speed data, so Satellite communication has been highlighted as the next generation communication. However, because the distance between the ground and the satellite is far away, there is a disadvantage that propagation delay time is very long and packet is damaged. Therefore, this study was applied to Link Relay H-ARQ system in order to complement the damage to the packet. Furthermore, we propose the Modified Link Relay H-ARQ scheme is a new scheme to supplementation the delay time. By applying the Markov channel for implementing a channel of satellite communications, the results of analyzing the performance, when applying the Link Relay HARQ scheme, BER and PER performance was improved, when applying the Modified Link Relay H-ARQ scheme, Throughput performance was confirmed improvement.

The USB-IF has specified a Wireless USB (WUSB) protocol based on UWB for high speed wireless home networks and WPANs. In this paper, firstly, performance degradation due to the Private Distributed Reservation Protocol (DRP) conflict problem caused by devices' mobility is analyzed. And a novel relay transmission protocol combined with Private DRP conflict resolution is proposed to overcome the performance degradation at Private DRP conflicts. In order to give the loser device due to Private DRP conflicts another chance to maintain resources, the proposed relay transmission protocol executed at each device helps the loser device reserve another indirect link maintaining the required resources via a relay node.
