Since the introduction of digital broadcasting, an additional advanced service called EPG has been brought to viewers. EPG (Electronic Program Guide) helps people select channels or programs. But existing user Interfaces for EPG are not convenient enough for the viewer. TV is the media anyone can access. Therefore, the 'look and feel' user interface is needed to guide the viewer to select their favorite programs without any difficulties. Generally, TV programs can be categorized by their attributes such as genre, broadcasting hours, and TV ratings. At the present moment, those attributes are not categorized systematically enough for easy program navigation. This paper presents how to organize the attributes of TV programs systematically and offers a user friendly interface to help the viewer access their favorite programs by specifying the values of the attributes in any order comfortable to them.

여러 표준이 존재하는 디지털 방송 환경에서 각 표준별로 Electronic Program Guide(EPG)를 얻기 위한 Program Event에 대한 정보를 포함하는 Table 파싱 기법이 다르다. 이를 해결하고 통합 디지털 방송 환경을 만들기 위해서 XML 파일을 이용한 테이블 통합 파싱 기법을 제안한다.

we analyzed multiple ray tracing in the highly scattering optical transmission(HSOT) polymer plate by means of the Monte carlo simulation. Light transmission behavior in the light guide was simulated by a 3-dimensional ray tracing program considering scattering angle given by the Mie theory and mean free path. To improve the uniformity of the conventional HSOT backlight unit, We employed additionally dot patterns. For the proposed structure, we calculated the light transmission behavior and obtained a bright and uniform backlight unit for a large size LCD panel of more than 12 inch.

국내에서 디지털 방송 상용화에 성공하고 전송 모델 또한 다양화됨에 따라 사용자는 다양한 형식으로 다수의 방송 프로그램을 접할 수 있게 되었다. 이에 대한 효율적인 프로그램 관리를 위한 EPG(Electronic Program Guide) 서비스가 현재 제공되거나 개발 중이다. 지능형 개인화 EPG는 디지털 방송 스트림이 수신되는 환경에서 사용자와 방송 수신기의 지능적인 매개체로서 운영되며 본 연구는 기존 프로그램 정보에 대한 장르를 학습하고 새로운 프로그램 정보가 입력될 경우 올바르게 장르를 분류할 수 있도록 기계학습 기법이 사용되었다.

본격적인 디지털 데이터 방송 시대를 맞이하여 TV는 다양하고 인터랙티브한 서비스의 제공이 가능해 졌다. 디지털 TV의 데이터 서비스는 매우 다양하다. 그 중 Electronic Program Guide(EPG)는 가장 기초가 되는 서비스이다. EPG의 아키텍쳐를 설계하기에 앞서 TV 프로그램에 대한 분류와 데이터 베이스화가 선행되어야 하며 이렇게 만들어진 Program Content Profile(PCP)와 사용자가 설정해 준 후 자동으로 갱신되는 User Preference Profile (UPP)는 EPG 어플리케이션의 스마트 기능 중 하나인 방송 프로그램 추천 기능을 가능케 해주며, 그 외에도 여러 스마트 기능들을 구현하는 중요한 척도이다. 본 논문은 이러한 모든 아키텍쳐를 시험적으로 설계 구현하였으며 그 예를 보여준다.

In this paper, a remote control system called TeleRemote system which can be applied to existing wireless mobile networks or public telephone networks for remote control is designed and implemented. The proposed design employs program technology based on the theory of signal detect control and enables the EPG(Electronic Program Guide) functions such as recording reservation of bidirectional video signals with TV reception card on PC. It can also control recording reservation using remote control program through telecommunication network The PC-EPG system is implemented in Web programs with Server/Clinet architecture and the server system that provides EPG functionalities is in charge of recording reservations and data communications by means of the scheduler program. Data storing to client PCs is performed through TCP/IP and finished by client programs implemented using Visual C++/MFC programs. As remote control system, the developed system can be used for unmanned security system using the Web camera. Building intranet and making connection to internet, the TeleRemote system is believed to create potential for commercial communication system.

EPG (Electronic Program Guide), which shows the title, broadcasting time, genre, parental rating of a program, is recognized as one of the most successful data service by viewers and broadcasting stations, who want an improved TV watching experience and a more fruitful profit model, respectively. In the circumstance, the request for the development or renewal of EPG frequently occurs and so the developers are looking for ways to improve the efficiency of the EPG development. This paper addresses the need of the developers by devising an EPG feature model based on FODA (Feature-Oriented Domain Analysis) and the testcases of each feature of the model. By utilizing the EPG feature model and the testcases, the tasks of requirement analysing and testcase designing, which are major tasks of the EPG development process, can be improved.

본 논문은 국내의 지상파 디지털 방송 표준인 ATSC표준을 이용하여 디지털 방송 시 제공되는 PSIP (ATSC A/65) 정보를 기반으로 한 전자프로그램가이드를 구현하는 시스템을 제안한다. 이 시스템은 PSIP 파서를 이용하여 방송국으로부터 수신된 MPEG-2 트랜스포트 스트림에서 PSIP 정보를 파싱하고, 이를 토대로 전자프로그램가이드에 필요한 정보를 만들어 DTV에서 보여주게 된다. 일반적으로 방송국으로부터 제공되는 PSIP 정보는 프로그램정보를 비롯하여 다양한 형태로 데이터 방송에 응용될 수 있는 정보를 포함할 수 있는데, 본 논문에서는 임베디드 리눅스 기반의 홈서버 시스템에 적용하여 구현하였다.

본 논문에서는 IP 통신망의 특성을 고려하여 IP 망 기반의 방송 서비스를 위한 효율적인 EPG 데이터 전송 방안을 제안한다. EPG 정보를 사용자 요구 특성을 고려하여 여러 그룹으로 분할하고 이에 대해 OOB 채널을 통한 멀티캐스트 전송 방식과 사용자 별 요구 및 응답 처리를 통한 유니캐스트 전송 방식을 혼합 적용한다. 또한 서비스 요구 상황에 따라 두 방식을 동적으로 선택 및 변경함으로써 EPG 시스템의 서버 자원과 네트워크 대역폭을 효율적으로 활용할 수 있다.

최근 한국정보통신기술협회(TTA)에서는 지상파 DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) ECG(Electronic Content Guide) XML(eXtensible Markup Language) 표준의 제정 및 개정 작업을 완료하였다. 지상파 DMB ECG XML 표준은 종래의 DMB EPG(Electronic Program Guide) 표준에서 제공되었던 서비스를 기능적으로 수용하면서 프로그램내의 특정 세그먼트 단위까지 검색 및 브라우징을 통하여 원하는 콘텐트를 보다 효율적으로 접근, 소비 및 저장이 가능하도록 하는 향상된 서비스를 제공하도록 정의하였다. 또한, 단일 포맷에서 모든 DMB 콘텐트 내용들을 결합하는 DMB AF(ISO/IEC 23000-9:2008; DMB Application Format) 파일 포맷을 포함하고 있다. 한국전자통신연구원에서는 이러한 지상파 DMB ECG XML 표준 및 서비스의 유효성 검증을 위해 메타데이터의 저작 단계에서 전송 및 단말에 이르는 맞춤시청형 방송 시스템을 개발하였다. 이러한 일련의 과정에서 DMB ECG 메타데이터는 맞춤시청형 서비스 제공을 위해 전달되는 핵심 요소로써, 디지털방송 콘텐트에 대한 상세 정보의 기술을 위해 새로운 메타데이터를 생성하거나 기존에 생성된 메타데이터를 재편집하는 과정을 효과적으로 수행하기 위한 메타데이터 저작도구가 필수적으로 필요하다. 본 논문은 사용자 친화적인 DMB ECG 메타데이터 및 DMB AF 저작도구의 개발에 대해 기술한다.
