Design of Cooperative M-1-1 Protocol Using OFDM to Increase Spectrum Utilization in WSN (무선 센서 네트워크의 주파수 사용 효율성 향상을 위한 OFDM을 사용한 협력적 M-1-1 프로토콜 설계)

  • Conventional wireless sensor network(WSN) has limited power and bandwidth. In order to develop multimedia sensor technology, high data rate communication systems are required. Cooperative communication system can help to decrease power consumption through spatial diversity. In cooperative transmission, one partner node assists one sensor node to transmit their data to destination. Instead of using M partners for M sensor nodes, we propose 1 partner for M sensor nodes. Proposed protocol offers similar diversity order as conventional one with much less bandwidth and hardware. It is able to almost reduce scattered nodes interference using orthogonal sub-carriers. In addition, we examined a power allocation between sensor nodes and relay that optimize the system performance.

Distance Relaying Algorithm Using a DFT-based Modified Phasor Estimation Method (DFT 기반의 개선된 페이저 연산 기법을 적용한 거리계전 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we propose a distance relaying algorithm using a Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT)-based modified phasor estimation method to eliminate the adverse influence of exponentially decaying DC offsets. Most distance relays are based on estimating phasors of the voltage and current signals. A DFT is generally used to calculate the phasor of the fundamental frequency component in digital protective relays. However, the output of the DFT contains an error due to exponentially decaying DC offsets. For this reason, distance relays have a tendency to over-reach or under-reach in the presence of DC offset components in a fault current. Therefore, the decaying DC components should be taken into consideration when calculating the phasor of the fundamental frequency component of a relaying signal. The error due to DC offsets in a DFT is calculated and eliminated using the outputs of an even-sample-set DFT and an odd-sample-set DFT, so that the phasor of the fundamental component can be accurately estimated. The performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated for a-phase to ground faults on a 345 kV, 50 km, simple overhead transmission line. The Electromagnetic Transient Program (EMTP) is used to generate fault signals. The evaluation results indicate that adopting the proposed algorithm in distance relays can effectively suppress the adverse influence of DC offsets.

  • The MIC-NET of 3,010 circuits to process on-line business on post, insurance, finance, electromagnetic wave, and so forth has the problems on spending of bandwidth for the lack of flexibility of leased-line service band. In this paper, it is suggested to establish the efficient 3 steps conversion plan through analysis and comparison with economical efficiency on MIC-NET. The promoting policy proposed in this paper, both MIC and local post office will raise image as financial institute and provide high level service with reliability and security as distinguished government organization.

  • The inrush current of a transformer is a high-magnitude and harmonic-rich current generated when the transformer core is driven into saturation during energizing. The inrush current usually leads to undesirable effects, for example potential damage to the transformer, misoperation of a protective relay, and power quality deterioration in the distribution power system. Inrush current reduction is therefore important for power system operation. In this paper, to reduce the inrush current, the insertion resistance of the Superconducting Fault Current Limiter (SFCL) that is connected in series with the transformer in the distribution system is used. This paper implements the SFCL by using the Electromagnetic Transient Program-Restructured Version (EMTP-RV) to model the SFCL in the distribution system. The simulation results show the beneficial effects of the SFCL for reduction of the inrush current.

  • The harmonic current originated from electric cars will be cause of electromagnetic interference along adjacent communication cables and troubles with signaling. It will also cause overheating in power capacitor and malfuction in protection relay. Therefore, it brought actual measurement of harmonic current by each operation mode. Because the result exceeded the value prescribed by Korea Electric Power Corporation, we constructed facilities reducing harmonic current on overloaded part at each power supply station located in conventional line (Guro, Kyungsan, and Milyang) as an optimal alternative. Then, this study compared and analyzed the reducing effect before and after constructing facility.

  • This paper deals with the on off arc characteristics of electromagnetic relay contacts contaminated by NaCl and $H_2SO_4$. In this paper, I have studied the characteristics of on-off voltage waveform. the contact errosion, contact surface analysis by SEM and EDAX under changed R-L parameter of testing circuit. After considers these result, I have tried to promote the diagnosis method and developed the contacts. As a results, (1) The arc duration and the numbers of arc occurrence characteristics are depended on contamination degree. The contamination degree is high when the arc characteristics is high. (2) Under clean condition, arc occurrence voltage, surge peak voltage, arc duration and the rate of contact errosion is lower than wet condition. (3) Surge peak voltage and arc duration is depended on L parameter. When L is High, the arc characteristics is high.

  • This study evaluated the improvements for circuits of a combat vehicle distribution box to reduce the noise generated in electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing. An analysis of the distribution boxes that failed the standard revealed the conducted noise generated from the converter and semiconductor switching elements on the circuit board. The distribution box transfers power from the generator and battery to the cooling system of a combat vehicle to keep turning the air conditioner on and off. Two methods were proposed to overcome this problem: a passive filter was added to the circuit board for the first method, and the converter and switching elements were replaced with the relays for the second method. Both methods were effective in reducing noise, but a greater improvement was obtained from the second method. The second method was applied to a combat vehicle system and was found to be suitable according to the EMC standards.

  • In the distribution system, there are multiple power protection systems such as circuit breakers at substations, and reclosers, minimum circuit ampacities, fault interrupters on distribution lines. They are widely used to prevent partial outages, cascading power failure or blackout so that other healthy systems could maintain the integrity in case of the instant fault or permanent failure on the power lines. However, when a fault happens, it could cause a major black out due to the lack of the protection cooperation between the protection relay of the circuit breaker at a substation and a protection system on the distribution lines. To achieve the power system integrity better, it is required to develop the circuit breaker which can be operational within 1 cycle(16ms). In this study, the high speed circuit breaker which is filled up with eco-friendly gas is developed. This equipment achieved an excellent test results based on IEC 62271-111 standard. It is respected that this equipment would contribute to prevent the wide area blackout by isolating a fault area quicker and faster.
